JK3 Rutts hutt started the bike nite on Wed again, trying to see if I can get the guys from PIT to come up with a few of the bikes and ride in :riding:
kev, tom is a great guy in person. Knows his stuff he does

Tom is great even not in person!
He had drilled out a pilot and sent it up to me. Was too big, fouled plugs and idle was crap. No big deal I figured he'd give it another shot. Nope. He says send me the carb to mod for regular Keihin pilots.
CCW + PIT +The Weave =
i know Kevin, I really need to take another ride down there. I smell a road trip soon. :riding: Need to figure out what day i can take off of work :naughty:
Ok the bike has well over 400 miles on her so I did an Oil change, chain lube and tightened her out took her on a ride for better than 1.5 hrs and on the way home she sputters and dies on me on the local highway at my exit:eek2:
So i went from 60 -65 mph to sputter sputter dead. I coasted her to the shoulder and was wondering what the hell. Lucky for me I'm a quarter mile off the exit. So as I'm checking the bike I realize I dont her the swish swish of the gas tank. :confused1:
Yes ladies and gentlemen I am a dumb ass  I checked everything else but the gas before my ride. I switched it over to the reserve and started her up after a few. and on she went and right to a gas station we stopped.
Yup thats my dummy move of the day.
Todays lesson: Check the Gas!
this has been your PSA of the day
A shot from the Laughlin River Run yesterday in Laughlin, NV. CCW had a booth at the event!

I am commuting daily on my Heist and just broke 500miles...
See I'm jealous the tolls into NYC and Parking alone would kill me commuting daily, and I'm not about to leave my Widow on the street for 9 hrs in that hell hole. Saw a bike get knocked over by a Merc backing into a spot. the guy gets out looks at his bumper then Walks away. not even a "let me straighten the bike". If it wasn't for a college of mine I would've brained him on the spot and used him for a puck.
Rant over...
Anyhow I wish man, but as it is I'm looking at 3 days more rain and chilly in the low 60's down to the 40's at night
Lol Gardo on the gas thing! On the fancy bikes with fuel injection you get a low fuel light like your car, what fun is that!
Anyway, I went to PIT an Saturday and met all the guys. Just really awesome down to earth guys plugging away in their shop. Brett was awesome showing me around the operation they have going on and took the time to answer all of my questions.
I took the "land shark" Heist for a test ride and blasted around the shop for about 10 laps. The bikes look good, nice clean welds and good fit and finish. The steering is a little heavy at slow speeds but once you get moving I think the raked out front end is beneficial to such a light bike at higher speeds. Brakes felt solid and smooth, not spongy or too hard, basically no surprises. Got her into 3rd gear and the shifting was very positive and smooth, neutral is extremely thin and hard to find but that will probably come with more time once you get the quirks figured out. She felt just like I thought a 250 would, peppy, gets you going nicely, not much torque but hey its a 250. The seat on this particular bike was completely bottomed out and had no travel at all so anything resembling springs would be a bonus. The exhaust sounded really good in person and took me for surprise, not tinny and had a good tone. This particular bike was well tuned and ran great right off the bat with little to no choke during warm up. I think they are really getting the carb mods down with a re-jet, accellorator pump tweek in combo with their exhaust/chop mod. Being a bobber I absolutely have to have a kick start but unfortunately with the stock pipe it will never work unless they come up with some crazy extension to the shaft or how the kicker swivels out. It would also be nice if the US bikes had a regular MPH indicator. Just a note guys on your mileage, for some reason I thought they said the odometer is in KPH not MPH so you may want to re-calculate your mileage.
All in all a very good experience and a nice little bike, I'm pretty much sold.
Good stuff JK3, good report. i Tweaked the seat springs on my ride for a bit more travel. as far as MPH v KPH My Km is 732.8 which gets me at 455 miles in less than 10 days. But you are right on the speedo. looking to swap it out eventually
Well hope you enjoy it and would love to go out for a ride when you do :riding:
