Re: Steve's CFMoto 650 NK(春风 650 NK)
Yeah, by law to get the Lams bike registered as a normal non restricted is difficult, but lets be honest, no one wants to actually go through that process, we all in Australia just want to unlock the power we paid for.... Difference between this bike and others is how they retard the power, most other bikes on the market are simply a stop put either on the throttle body or on the throttle itself, so all you need to do is remove this device but you will quickly be caught and fined by police because they can check this. If the CF moto 650NK can be unlocked it will be extremely popular for new riders in Australia because police would have no way to know this "unlock" has been done :)
I think depending on how it effects the warranty I will just get intake and exhaust done, take it to a dyno and get it tuned, I assume that process would "unlock" it.

Good time to launch a fresh thread on how to do this, given the numbers of 650NKs that apparently are being sold into Oz.
- Are these all retarded LAMS bikes?
- How long do you have to wear the retarded L on your forehead before you become a proper legal rider?
- Once you are no longer a learner, why on earth would it not be permitted to legally unretard your retarded bike?
- Is there any channel for legal grievances regarding stuff like this?
I like the idea of civil disobedience! Unretard those 650NKs! See what happens!
cheers

Hi jeff
Yes it all come down to someone with a laptop pluged into you ECU to unlock it the same way as cars are "CHIP" you need to take the bike or just the ECU box to people who does this type of work and get them to have a look you could even have a hidden switch put in place so you could switch it back to normal if got stop by the police we used to do this with car mileage back in the UK because the resection are software based you can do so much more and when you have it all sorted out it could be a good money earner for you to reprogram other CF MOTO bikes
Try these guys

I been looking myself, and found the mounting hardware for a bike stand specific to the 650TR, but am currently looking for a stand that is known to fit the 650TR (CF650-2). So far all the Taobao sellers I've contacted selling bike stands have no idea whether stands they sell (or what stand) will fit.
Still looking...

Hello,
I haven't really looked into the centre stand mount issue. Thing is, I'll most likely not service the bike myself, and the dealer has this paddock-like thing you put sportbikes on. So far no need for it. But I somehow guess (and by guess I mean guess :)) that TR's centre stand might fit. Will probably require some additional work on it, though.

Hello, Brad
Problem here - these sliders were specifically made for CFMoto 650 NK. Mounting brackets included. They are being made by some local Chinese dude in his workshop - it's not a major manufacturer or anything. As such, they do not have any part number or any ID whatsoever. I got them from taobao.com (Chinese eBay equivalent). No idea about the colour options though - I never asked the seller. Even worse - now that I tried to find them on taobao.com again, it appears the link was taken down :(

Here's some for sale on Taobao
seller 1
seller 2
there are other sellers on Taobao with these same items so they likely are sourcing from the same supplier...

Re: Steve's CFMoto 650 NK(春风 650 NK)
I just got a set of these for my black/red 650nk
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/251284852...84.m1497.l2649
that said the Aussie version (or at least mine??) has a horn where you guys are mounting yours and we have a welded plate just above it with a hole for sliders. you can see it here:

Stupid question though. I cannot find and English manual and... I have NO IDEA how to lift the seats??? I need to get to the tool kit so I can adjust my pre-load!

The 650TR has the mounting tabs pre-welded on the underside of the swingarm both sides, to accept the fitting of the "mounting posts" for the bike/motorcycle stand... the "mounting posts" are needed to be purchased separately and are available on Taobao for between 元20-70 per pair. Unsure if the 650NK has these mount tabs or not, as I can't recall seeing them when I had the preproduction prototype 650NK back in 2011.
A centre stand is not something that can be easily fitted to the 650 due to both the placement of the muffler collector box, and the inherent design of the engine being a stressed member of the frame. Meaning there is no frame bosses running under the engine that could be used to mount a centre stand. Therefore the bike/motorcycle stand like those used on MotoGP, SBK bikes and even in the CFMoto company showroom in Hangzhou seem like the only method of getting/having the bike parked in a true vertical position. At home in my garage, I park my 650TR on side stand with a brick under it - with just a little off centre left lean. Bought an extra side stand and having that lengthened, so I can replace both the standard stand and the brick. When the weather cools I'll look at investigating and experimenting on possible methods to fabricate/fit a centre stand.

What brand and part number for the bike stand? Or if it is a no-name brand, can you supply some info such as width and height etc or even a link online?
Many thanks in advance...

Most bike stands can be adjusted for different width...

Yes, my bike stand it can be adjusted and fit in any bike. I buy it here, in Argentina, it was made here too.

Hi all, if I could slightly hijack Steve's thread again, since it seems to attract the most NK riders...
My bike is running beautifully, when it starts... From the very first day I was getting ECU error lights, usually 5 long and between 3 and 5 short. This happens only when the bike is cold and results in the fuel pump not priming. U can hear the click on and click off, but the pump doesn't cut on.
Usually it'll start up after 20 minutes or so of trying, but it is less than ideal. Given that it is intermittent, I suspect a bad camshaft position sensor or the ECU itself, which seems more likely. The coil warning (5/5) makes no sense as it functions well once it gets going and coils either fail or function. Anyone have experience with something like this?
I also have the GPS security module installed, which can disable the ignition under some circumstances, but again, it only happens when I haven't ridden for a few days.
Went down to the garage last night to fire it up and take my wife out for her first ride and it wouldn't start. Grrrr.

Re: Steve's CFMoto 650 NK(春风 650 NK)
I will try to give you a more mature reply then the previous one:
Try to measure / or just replace in case you can't measure, the fuel relais.
Relais sometimes go bad, specially if low quality internals are used.
They still click (that's what you hear) but they do not really connect any more, not allowing current to flow to your start motor.
If it is not the relais, you got to dig a bit deeper.
I know that e.g. Ducati's and many alarm systems don't match well, might be the case for your NK as well.
-
Re: Steve's CFMoto 650 NK(春风 650 NK)
Thanks for that! Do you happen to know what the standard resistance is for those relays? I don't see anything in my manual about that and I'll be honest about electricity not really being my strong point...
-
Re: Steve's CFMoto 650 NK(春风 650 NK)
You being in Shanghai; by far the easiest way is to buy and replace one.
They hardly cost anything, and you will know immediately.
If the problem persists, you got to give a bit more details on the 20 min start process.
Remote diagnostics is difficult, but not always impossible.

Re: Steve's CFMoto 650 NK(春风 650 NK)
Yeah, for sure. That's why I was asking about the rating, so I could go pick up a spare on the way home from work ;-)
Basically, if the bike is not ridden for more than 2 or 3 days, when I go to start it this is the sequence:
1. Ignition on, all battery lights check out
2. Arm the kill switch
3. ECU light comes on for the check phase and I hear the relay click
4. Check light goes out and I hear the relay click again
5. Hit the starter and it turns over, but no combustion
6. Kill switch off
7. Ignition off, remove the key
8. Smoke a cigarette and curse
9. Try again.
After a few cycles, I usually hear the relay click, then the fuel pump priming (about a 1 second motor hum). Then it starts no problem. I've tried the following:
1. Disconnect and reconnect the ECU
2. Checked all cables from o2 sensor, sidestand sensor, coils etc.
3. Fiddled with connections around fuel pump
4. Shake the bike around to set off the GPS alarm, then reset it with my phone
None of these things seems to have a direct result. It just seems to decide it wants to start eventually. Thanks for this, by the way!
-
Re: Steve's CFMoto 650 NK(春风 650 NK)
I dont know what they are rated, they should be basically all the same (higher amp).
Any headlight relay or start motor relay will do.
They just allow 12V through (direct from your battery to your pump) if they are powered (by your ECU signal).
Your sequense confirms to me to start with suspecting the relais, if not, then pump.
I don't think it is ECU related, seems you get the signals on the right time / location.
E.

Re: Steve's CFMoto 650 NK(春风 650 NK)
Good call, thanks again! I'll pick up a new relay on the way home, plug it in and let you know the outcome!
-
So, turns out it was a faulty connector to the fuel pump. One of the little blade connectors worked loose somehow. Not sure why it would sometimes start - maybe my fiddling around somehow knocked it back into place. The blades were so loose you could just slide them out of the connector with no effort.
Thanks for the help though, at least I know how to test a relay now :-)
-
Re: Steve's CFMoto 650 NK(春风 650 NK)
themicah, no worries about hijacking the thread :)
Tell you what - I haven't ridden my bike for a couple of weeks. Then I'd try to start it - unsuccessfully.
1. Ignition on, dials lights on.
2. Relay click, no pump whirring.
3. Repeat.
Fuel pump connector problem :)
So thanks lots, cheers!
Ride safe :)
-
Haha! Good to hear the hijacking served a purpose other than my own! I guess it's worth noting to all potential 650nk owners that this forehead slapper of a problem isn't so uncommon. I wish I had a garage, I'd put together my own set of connectors and require all those bits after seeing how poorly this one was assembled. Disappointing, but good to know it wasn't something more major, like the ECU or the fuel pump.
Next mission for me is a modded faring that lets me access the coolant fill spout without removing the damned faring first... Extras are cheap on Taobao, and that'll be a good project until this damned furnace of a summer shuts down.
-
Re: Steve's CFMoto 650 NK(春风 650 NK)
make sure you take lots of pics when doing the fairing mod :) I'll most likely need it as well :)
Speaking of which, themicah, how's the bike in this weather? I mean, +40 and all...
The reason I ask - I'm in Nanjing, that is very near Shanghai and we have pretty similar weather over here. I got a couple of bikes to choose from and I noticed I tend to pick my wife's Suzuki EN-150 over my CFMoto more and more often.
The bike doesn't overheat, just feels not right in this scorching heat.
What do you say?
Cheers!
