Hello everyone, i have read all 70 pages of this thread and i have to say WOW. Great info. I just ordered mine 3 days ago and i cant wait for it to come in. I have been riding motorcycles most of my life, dirt, street, trackdays even race schools. I have owned countless bikes but for what ever reason i am most excited to get this one. I guess it is because i have only had enduro super motos and street bikes and this will be my first custom looking bike with forward controls. I had a bunch of mods that i already knew i wanted to do to it like brag bar, new mirrors, carb jets and sprocket swap, But not knowing were to buy all those things i was going to wait to get the bike. Since reading this forum all of my Qs and concerns have been discussed so thanks to all. I do have one Q, what width Drag bar do i need? they told be it was a 1 1/4 bar but that doesn't sound right to me.
Reporon: Any issues with registering your Dong Fang in MN? I live down near the Twin Cities and am thinking of buying one.
AKAsam.
Welcome to the mad house.
When you say drag bar are you talking about handlebars? If so then they are 7/8" in diameter. The width will be up to you. Some like 30" and I have 32" width.
Thank you, by the way after reading these 70 pages of this thread i feel like i know you well. You are a very valuable resource to this thread.
AKA,
Your welcome. I really enjoy riding my DF here in the mountains of NC.

Another dump run.
what all would need to be done to do an engine swap on this bad boy. It would be nice to have a 450, 500 or even a 650.
That's a cool photo. Vince, have you added any mods to your DF?
John,
No mods lately. Just been riding her along with my other bikes. Great riding here in the mountains of NC.
I feel the that the mods that I have done that are necessary are:
main jet to a 100 for high end, washer under the needle for mid range
smaller rear sprocket to improve top end speed and make first gear more useable
Also did some other not so necessary mods:
baffle in muffler to tone her down a bit
tool roll under the headlight
side saddlebag for rain gear, tire plug kit, and bicycle pump
increased preload in seat for my 215 lbs
removed SAI to cleanup and decrease engine heat a bit.
changed the handlebars and mirrors
added filter to crankcase breather.

This is my DF250 I got yesterday in flat black. Runs great so far. Not gonna do too many mods right away. It rides nice, sounds good, and looks different than most things out there. Would recommend one to anyone that can turn a wrench and likes this style of bike.
