I don't think I'll mess with the motor much as it looks pretty good the way it is. Wish it had a kickstart though.
Be prepared to go to Columbia to reg your bike. The local DMVs may tell you that the bike manufacture is not registered with the federal motor vehicle department or some crap to that effect. Before I attempted to order one,I hit the DMV with the info that Barnone posted and it was a bust for me.Not the first episode I have had with the DMV refusing to reg a bike.It can be reg'd as a custom kit bike.I have my DMV nightmare posted on another forum of when I tried to reg a Suzuki I bought in NC.Almost went to jail over that fiasco.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Thanks for the heads up ben2go. I guess if I have to go to columbia I'll take 76 the whole way a break the motor in that way. I tell you it was a pain in the ass trying to find someone to work with my finance company. Had the loan company waiting to cut the check for one place and they never would call me back. Went thru a couple more before finally getting someone who was willing to work with me.

I'm concerned regarding your 'Dealer', not in my Joliet phone book. Give me the address and I'll do a visit for you.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
another word of caution: google "great sports joliet il" and the first two hits are ripoff/scam reports.
good luck with it.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Their website is actually called saferwholesale.com. Looks like they are located at 2108 Mcdonough St. They have a map on their site to that address and they come up on a search from yahoo local. So far they seem to have really good customer service. I appreciate the run by though if its not out of your way. I also saw a couple of bikes listed by them on the local craigslist there in Joliet.

I went down to a 33t. I was assuming the broken sprocket studs where due to the 45t since it has more leverage and torque, as well as a possible combination of the snap ring failing.. I've been inspecting my stud bolts after ever trip and I don't see anything fouling up, but it's a good thing you found some stock replacement parts :]

Yeah I read through those reports. With the amount of customers they say they handle I didn't really see anything that would scare me off too much. Its the same with sunny sports Inc. If you google them. Same ripoff reports come up for them too. I read through those and they were about the same general kind of complaints and I have read on this forum and others have had great dealings with sunny sports. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll have a good experience.

OK, as long as you've done your homework....
Looking forward to reading about your experience with the bike and mods!

Will check them out by tomorrow worst case.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Question - anyone ever replaced turn signals on their bike? Looking for something smaller, more old school - maybe with red lenses at the rear...? (...but that will still survive sitting on a hard tail over rough roads)

Happy to report they are real. Not really a dealer, just a sales outlet. No bobbers on the floor, lots of scotters.

Thanks GUN ROD! Makes me feel a lot better. I buy online all the time but I've never dropped two grand online before. They told me the bobber would ship from Cali.

If it is being shipped from Ca., it is comming from Scooter Depo. They do you right. My front tire started leaking air. With only six days on the warenty left they sent me a new rim, tire, and the brake disk fully assembled. All I had to do was change it out. "Ha". Now I have a spare tire and possibly a spare rim if I can figure out why it leaks at the spokes. I think the difference is who you deal with. Since I bought mine directly from Scooter Depot, that's who I talk to. If you buy from anyone else you have to go through them. That's ok. But add another week to delivery time.
BTW. The DF250RTB "Rocks"
OLd school or what?

Does it really take 10 to 15 business days for delivery? Why so long? Shouldn't take anymore than 5 days. I order crap from Cali all the time and it's never taken me 3 weeks to get anything.

The trucking company waits until they have a full load for their cross country trip. That is how the cost is held down. If only one bike was shipped, the cost would be triple what you are paying.
When I sold Mine the new owner paid double, what you are paying.

Makes since. Guess I'll just have to be patient.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information

(EDIT) welding it broke it /cries off to autoparts store to buy a $10 horn
air temperature makes huge diff on bike performance , at 100+ degrees I find it difficult to pass 70MPH indicated , but temp drops 15 degrees and I get an additional 10 mph out of her

Yep. I've noticed that too. Not only the temp., but the humidity makes a big difference also. Something came loose in my exhaust. Rattles a bit. So I got to try and get what ever it is out of there this weekend. Hope it does not change the sound or affect the performance. I put a Nautilus airhorn on mine. Loud it is. lol.

You will need a pair of aviator sunglasses to get the Erik Estrada thing going... although I don't think you'll be able to chase anything with the DF... maybe a cyclist... or a suspect jogger at best :riding:

:lol8:  :naughty:
I have a friend in Arkansas that took one of those state highway patrolmen stickers they give you when you donate to the "cause".
He pasted it to the front of his helmet and never had a problem until he crossed the state line into Texas. Paid his fine and got back across the state line. lol. It was a hand made helmet and to tell the truth it did look like a motorcycle cop helmet. He probably could have fought it in court. You want to play ? Sometimes it is best to just pay. :mwink:

How good are the frames on these bikes? Could I stuff a bigger engine in there if the mood strikes later on down the line?

I looked at one with the thought of stuffing one of my Ptwin GS500 engines in there. There is not enough room.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Has anyone come up with a part number or something comparable to the brake pads for this bike.I have been looking and cannot come up with anything. So once again I ask.. if anyone knows if the parts for the CW HEist are interchangable with this DF Bobber. I noticed on go karts USA that they have lots of parts available for the Heist, a bit pricey for the stuff and they will only sell based on a minium purchase order.. which i avaoid.. so I am looking else where for these pads... this is something I think everyone should think about...
