One of the most popular images I have posted is that of the Heiwa based on the CMX250.
A multiplicity of manufactures offer a version of the HONDA and kits are available to turn the CMX either a used one or a Chinese version of one into a bobber.
http://bluecollarbobbers.com/web/ima...rebel_info.jpg
1) replicate the kits…consider Vietnam for manufacturing the parts.
2) order some stock versions of the Chinese CMX convert them offer them and the kits.
Not as cool as the Heiwa that has a custom frame but it offers an option on a very mundane bike and livens it up. Plus there are a bunch of the CMX250 clones and originals floating around. You could certainly beat blue collar bobber prices.

Seriously if you’re in china and contracting then why not sell some molded plastic kits made to customize a early model ninja250?

http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/y...ked_ninja5.jpg
I am pretty sure that from 1988-2007 the biggest seller was the EX250 outselling every other single model motorcycle in the USA.
Its not only the Ninja that some would like to de-fair there are also a bunch of others like the Lifan LF200-B that has a common frame used on many Chinese bikes,
http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/y...aked_1_001.jpg
like the Jinlun 250, offered online for sale.
http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/y...jl250p_002.jpg
Jinlun has the CMX250 engine in it, that also leads into selling those engines as replacement engines. They all seem to share common mounting points on many bikes that frame is taking everything from a water cooled NX-250 engines to a the CMX250 twin to a variety of singles cylinder engines the LF200B is a 200cc engine. They may all share mounting points on the common frame.
Gear clusters, headlights mounting instructions…plastic body kits, all the parts to convert these bikes into something more palatable and get rid of these outrageous plastic shrouds. Often the models share parts documenting them and supplying them for specific models drives the sales of them.
Here are three models a Tank Khaos, sold in the USA and is still being sold online, A Lifan LF200III and a un-faired version with the CMX250 twin.

MJH,
What do all these pictures of bikes that you keep posting have to do with CCW? Just wondering.....
Here is the thing if the parts are available online and entering a VIN number pulled up a schematic with a list of all related parts and also offered a custom command button…then opened as in clicking on that would offer another list or kit to alter the bikes…I think that people that have these or see them for sale used online would get active?
The Lifan GS200 is being offered online and for about $1,600.00...the last bike shares the same frame as it, taking off the fairing requires a headlight and gauge cluster, a cover for were the tank met the fairing, handle bars and mirrors…packages could be different and even could offer engine up grades or engine replacements, different rims and tires, exhausts, fenders…
Once its all documented then models could be ordered from the OEM less all the added parts that make them custom. The parts added here at a dealer or an assembly center. If the parts are sourced from outside china then it reduces the chances of seeing the exact same models coming through as imports from another supplier.
Since none of the OEM have rock solid support in the USA logically you could offer that for them, that being part support all that is required is they adhere to a set method of documentation. None of these manufactures will ever be selling there entire line in the USA or other developed markets, they typically only offer a small line and seems that consistent documentation and parts support is nothing more then due diligence. Schematics, parts books and servicing manuals, does not seem that difficult.
The documentation services become more and more relevant if and when the technology advances, its needed at the onset as in place within degrees as when the brand names become respected. That allows a mechanic easy access to what is needed to troubleshoot or make repairs.
An academics or a trade school could be aligned on that and offer documentation services and product support training. That and part support all developed within such an environment as a trade school. That could also be aligned with a design research and development center as well as international business process management.
It’s complicated, however there is a giant mall located in southeast Cleveland and it’s the home of PSI and the mall was recently purchased by a developer. It's all about expanding CCW and a brainstorm of how to do it.
The region is in flux with a change in government and budget reviews and all sorts of alternate funding models and grants flying around, the area is hot for development and education and job creation are criteria for getting access to start-up funds.
Aligning with the PSI school and also local education institutes and think tanks could happen, the casino that is opening has to allocate 50M to the state and the state has to use those funds for education and job creation.
The new county executive is offering a budget cut and in that a redirect of 10% of sales taxes into economic development…that’s $1M each year to spend on ventures that develop economic drivers.
RTA the local transit authority is evaluating extending an existing commuter rail line to the mall site. That criteria for funding is that of demonstrating a potential for economic development.
It's all a blueprint for global logistics, importing and selling, distribution, warehousing…can be linked to the educational institution that already exists in the area, a campus that could draw people into it.
Keep in mind the owner of the company CCW is an adjunct professor at the Cleveland Institute of Art, his department is that of industrial design. He is surrounded by intellectuals?
http://www.psi-now.com/
Here is how the power sports institute operates…it attract it’s students nationally they can get in on a Pell Grant (fully federally funded) and often live in or on campus in dormitory style housing. These students usually look for part time work while attending.
If a distributor was located on campus they could hire out of the student body and ideally the school would offer training on the distributors products.
They eventually graduate and many may end up working for dealers some may even eventually open up their own dealerships?
However that is not enough, funding or access to funding should also be to establish and industrial design school. Then that also in alignment with a school for global business process management. LOL some of the student of that could intern in a Chinese factory. Maybe those could be Chinese students that come here originally to attend college, this city and it’s universities already attract Chinese students.
I would not make assumptions about the Chinese and adaptability or the percentages with them in current generations that can speak English and how many desire studying abroad.
Research development and designing and also global economics and related business processes.
I would like to see an educational institution that brought all level of the value chain under one common campus that actually had real business models within it. They say that people that cannot teach and those that can do…I’d like to find some people that can do both, teach and manage, learn and work, in real business models all at once. Its not communism its communal though, living and working on or in a campus, certainly would be cost effective and likely fun for those that would have an interest.
They say it's really difficult to make anything happen in the USA…I'd like to just see an abandoned mall come back to life. I’d like to see something impressive instead of depressing.
MJH,
I got this friend who tells you how to build a atomic clock when you ask him the time.
A nice little pointed point…
It’s a long and winding road and if the journey is to long for you then do not take it, the road was not created just for you, maybe the road is for someone that’s up for the journey.
If something is too much or does not interest me…I skip it.
I am just playing on the side…I often tell people that if something is interesting and applies to their individual interests by all mean take it, it’s free. Its just a scratch pad for me and obviously I am not getting paid to do it, If I was it be more metered and polished.
I had a friend that called me the other day and said the mall got sold, he said “I remember what you wrote and that you would try to get it developed”. He said also he was glad to see I was actively instigating again and the community will only benefit for that. I responded with that is very faltering and that I appreciated him calling.
I surround myself with good friends that have value….but I also say friends are something we have in grade school.
falteringpresent participle of fal·ter (Verb)
1. Start to lose strength or momentum: "her smile faltered"; "his faltering career".
2. Speak or move in a hesitant or unsteady manner.
BTW, This is a China moto site and not a let's save Cleveland and buy a shopping center site.
It’s not about buying a mall it is more about leasing low cost space next to a national Powersoprt training center. They also offer curriculum on inventory management.
Buy the way your not responsible for content on the site, the administration can delete the thread and all its content if they like and even ban me…I would not loose sleep over it.
I cannot approach the powers that be it is not my business, but I can keep them aware of what is happening and call for relative alignments. In an attempt to make it all happen….but obviously nobody would be more surprised then me if it did.
All humans falter, I would suggest that Scott take his bikes over to the school and show them off, then ask the owner if they are interested in building a monster. I am sure that Neil Bernstein would find it fascinating.
MJH thats great and all but I can assume that most of us are enthusiasts. we will ride and wrench our vehicles sometimes someone else's but thats it. We like the product and what they can do, but all this other stuff is just a bit much
If most people work on their own bikes then why are the service bays in most dealers filled with bikes. I avoid assumptions except one in this case and that’s the owner of the company gets to read it and thinks about it.
The Mall is a now a business incubator….your welcome Cleveland.
I am already past my allotted time on this….12 months…went four months over yikes…but then again the broken wrist limited me and what other things I can do…
Seriously I am done….it's all out there I really have nothing left to add.
I will leave the photos bucket up though...
the ccw misfits is identical with cpi sells years ago.

Jers,
Oh no, the misfit is a total new design from CCW like the heist which was not a copy of the hardknock.
"Scott Colosimo tells us these are intended to boost dealer inventories here as model development of new models like the CCW Misfit cafe racer and Hooligun... "
Does not matter it’s a cool bike.
I have a suggestion for the Hooligun….get rid of the plastic make it look more like the Hyosung Karion.

i like ccw but are the bikes are really their original design as they said? since the misfits are not out yet in the u.s. market, we have a cpi motorcycle dealer here have identical to it way back.

Here's my reply Jers

This is an interesting thread? Seems to be some strong opinions regarding various companies, espcially CCW. I can only comment about my experience which was great. The VP Brett, has emailed me numerous time as I explored the various makes. Once I decided to go with CCW, Brett knew I was looking to customize and lead me to Tow Weaver, who tricked out the carb, exhaust and various components. After receiving my ride several people from the company contacted me to make sure I was satisfied. The service and support has been exceptional. That is worth a lot to me. It was the determining factor in going with CCW. I am sure there are several great china bikes out there, I just like to know I have support.
The master minds at CCW are designing new models for us…I hope they can go the distance, to be candid, that will be in their ability to keep sales going and in that reinvest that revenue into bringing new products to the market.
CCW has access to other partners now, they seem to have some connections with Galaxy (Yinhe) and in that access to their models with the 223cc engine. That OHC engine offers more horsepower and torque then the current OHV they are utilizing in their current US offerings.
When will the USA get this new model….
http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/y...1114123223.jpg
I suppose it is when they get an EPA approved version of the CB250 (223cc) engine.
It would also be good to offer some color options.
http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/y...4123048219.jpg
http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/y...4123217157.jpg
It would also be good to offer full gauges, that including a gear position indicator. It is a good feature to offer to new riders, which is a prevalent part of the entry level market, that being new riders. I also think it keeps strain on the engine down, reducing the likelihood of premature shifting as well as unnecessary down shifting.
MJH true more options would be nice but you need to plan a growth of a business. Expansion to fast could be more detrimental to them. They have the right mindset introducing a strong, good quality product with excellent service is the key. Know and stick with your projected audience.
sometimes its more than more horsepower, the power plant that is currently used is tried and true. The motor that can be used in versatile applications that offer different experiences to the different customers.
CCW looks to have a bright future and continues to improve the current lines while researching and developing new product lines
To borrow some ideas from the Greetings from Chongqing thread, CCW is doing precisely what the big Chinese brands refuse to do, or are incapable of doing because they are owned by state bureaucrats and communists: Using Chinese manufacturing efficiencies and international marketing and brand development techniques to make and sell bikes that people drool over and desire, and buy.
And they are getting a $1000 premium over the very similar Dongfang models, precisely because they give a shit about their customers and give great service.
cheers!
The images are off the Somoto website,
"SOMOTO has partnered with the Haojin Group to leverage their professional manufacturing capabilities and marketing abilities. We also have design and engineering resources in the US and Europe to stay ahead of new market trends and leading industry developments. We are dedicated to R&D, and developing world class motorcycles for an international market."
"SOMOTO and its USA partner CCW successful Participated in the biggest Motor show in North American--2011 Indianapolis show. At this show, some new brand models have been showed such as CLASSIC, GRX, VEGO etc...."
I am so sure nobody else notices this stuff but me….
The SOMOTO GRX is a Jinan Qingqi Model, it even in this image has a 249cc version of the Suzuki engine and has an oil cooler on it.
http://www.somoto.cn/UploadFiles/20121014225859763.jpg
However the specifications as for engine options, at first glance, appears to be two Suzuki engines; the 124cc and 199cc and then the last option is a 230cc, which is likely a 223cc. The specification of the engine with 12kw@7500 make it likely the CB250 OHC and all are OHC engines.
As for engines none of the Chinese engines are anything to write home about…but they do have a few interesting engines in mass production as options, which could also be called “drop dead reliable”. The NX250 was in its original form consider not only a good engine, but actually a great engine.
Horsepower and torque do matters, reliability matters too, so does the price, its all relative.
Mechanical engineering is a steep curve, China lacks good technical training they likely have lots of engineers however not enough technicians. That is because they push the students to the top and seek high levels of theoretical problem solving. They need to encourage and develop technical schools to get or raise the support systems to higher standards.
I see that Haojin has contracted with Delphi to develop EFI systems, but they offer no products with EFI, is that because they have no ability to support it.
That’s important because the lion share of the market is china and even small percentages of total sales in China represent huge sales numbers compared to other global markets.
In china the industry needs to embrace technical training and in that they have to convince some of the young people that it is not that important to go to the best college and pursue the highest degree, it may be better to be involved in a technical trade program and one that leads to internships in factories that eventually lead them into becoming service managers in dealerships.
A good service manager knows all his products, not only the mechanical aspects they also understand the support system, how to troubleshoot and also how to document within it, they also know how to quickly identify parts and source them as well. They do because they get formal training on the system that is designed and managed through and as part of engineering.
Technical training can be brand specific as engineers develop new products, they simultaneously develop curriculum, for production as well as field support. In that it is an industry in itself, its education and what is missing in part in the society and in this industry.
Here is a link from Visionary Motorsport Canada, they offer some documentation and parts for the CCW product line.
http://shopping.netsuite.com/s.nl/c....gory.195437/.f
seems the CCW is not resting on their laurels.
