Yeah the DMV here wouldn't take it either so no temp tag. Should have the certificate of origin back from Great Sports pretty quick though. Good news is the lady at DMV ran the the vin and it doesn't look like I'll have a problem registering the bike once I have the proper paperwork in hand.

This was the place that Scooter depot told me to contact when i called them about replacement pads, becasue scooter depot did not have stock yet. They keep saying 3 weeks...

Dude.. Houston can rain every day with out any warning.. but glad to here you ride every day.I ride every day also.. rain or shine.. prefer the shine of course.. but around here ya never know..you could be in Meyerland without rain, then hit the Galleria and it is a downpour... what ya gonna do.. I just get wet. I only have 4500 plus on mine.. but only got it in August of last year, and had a few weeks here and there of down time due to parts replacements from scooter depot.(gas tank leaking took almost a month to get the new one),had the sproket bolts snap, down for about two weeks. timje adds up I guess.. but all is good. Haven't been riding at all this week.. family out of town, got a chance to drive the van and enjoy some AC for a change in this heat, but will probably ride thursday and friday.....ect...

The weather app on my iPhone helps me with the metropolitan area and rainfall. I've had the same problems as you, gas tank just wouldn't stop leaking no matter how many times I patch it, sprocket bolts snapped, my starter solenoid/rectifier went out, and my chain/chain adjuster snapped yesterday on the freeway. I bought this bike to save me money, it's not doing its job if I have to buy a new part for it every week D:

Do not get frustrated.. remember this,it is a chinese bike.Inferior metalogy, you get what you pay for. still it is way less than anything else on the road. I never let the down time get to me.. I just fix it with better quality stuff. i used grade 8 bolts and made my own sprocket studs..I am gonna replace the tank with something off the internett that i found as soon as I get the cash together.. looks better then the stock one. I changed the headlamp to a car headlamp with high beams.. cause I could not for the life of me find a bulb to replace the one the bike came with. easy fixes are what this bike is about.. also remebr.. every other bike on the road no matter what they cost.. have similar issues.. I talk to guys every day that ride daily.. and they always have something that goes wrong and needs to be fixed. I love this bike.. wouldn't change it for anything.. it just needs to be caressed ..I ride therefore I am.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Now my wife on the other hand.. eveytime I have an issue she seems to go to the snotty side of her complection. I have made her understand that no matter what.. please keep that feeling to herself. I just do not want to feel it. So the last time I was off it for the sprocket...she looked at me.. and just smiled. I knew what she meant.. but at least I didn't get an earful. lol...Besides, part of my enhjoyement is messing around with the bike.. although I would rather work on upgrades and changes.. these setbacks truly become just that.. an upgrade or change. Fun to do, and I get so much pleasure from an onlooker, or someone who stops and gawls at it then askes me what is it.. or says wow that is a sweet ride. Make sall the work pay off and makes me feel good.

Sure was, Yamaha xs650 tank, sits lower on the frame so it's a lot more flush, 3 gallon capacity.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Next three days will be taking a road trip with 18 Harley guys. Couple hundred miles to a lodge. Fishing, poker & beer.
They like the DF! I hope my upper speed won't be an issue. Other than winds, perfect weather. Glad I have the pony bags & a break down fishing gear. Let you know Monday how the DF does.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Newbie to biking question.
I have a new tank lined up for the df , it has 2 built in petcocks that are vacuum operated. Can i plumb them in to the df and get the to operate, or should i just set them on prime and run them into the df petcock?
Cheers

If you removed the air induction system (that lets air into the exhaust valve area) you will have a vacuum take off point available on the carb, to connect your vacuum petcock to.
My Yamaha 250 has a triple tap on the carb, for fuel pump, vacuum petcock and (disconnected) air induction. So.. you should have enough vacuum to operate dual petcocks.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Road trip with Harley guys was great. Was able to keep up.
Issue half way home. Ground wire worked loose earlier, battery went dead. Push starting worked only for short distance.
Ended up sitting in a cornfield 5 hrs. before friend brought my trailer. Had a flask & soduko puzzles to pass the time.
Going to recharge battery & establish what's wrong.

Ok, at least you didn't starve to death. So don't tell me you didn't peel one of the ears of corn off and chew on it. lol. I would have.
:taz:
A bro of mine said he spotted a df250rtb up in Michigan on I 75. I'd almost bet it was one of you, (us). lol.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Well good news for those of us in SC. The bike was easy and simple to register. The only problem I had was with Great Sports and their stupid sales receipt that had the wrong info on it and they refused to fix. Luckily for me the DMV lady ask her supervisor and he went ahead and accepted it. A word of caution I would never buy from Great Sports again or saferwholesale.com. All these idiots had to do was fax over the right paperwork to the DMV and they refused too. Instead they wanted me to email them copies of paperwork they already should have had and wanted me to send the certificate of origin back to them.

Question? I've noticed on some of the bikes here they have a smaller front brake disk. Being all manufactured in 2010, shouldn't they all be the same? My front disk is identical to the rear disk?

Corn looked pretty bad (drought). I don't believe I drank that much vodka straight in my life (no water, just a flask)
Wasn't me in Mich. We were down state Illinois.
Still charging, lithium charger only a 2Amp

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
My brake wires came off at the rear brake connection. The battery was giving 12 volts, but the ignition was only making the solenoid click. I have some fun ahead of me figuring this one out. I hope it's not the solenoid since it may be a hassle getting one of those. Thankfully (?) I broke my foot so I won't be able to ride for awhile. Pitiful, I'm sure.
-
Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
12 V solen only clicking - bad battery , I had very same issue , Barnone told me replace battery , I argued saying it had 12 V and fully charged on charger , but was indeed it
battery can read full power even if the amps it pushs out couldnt turn an unloaded starter : \
its easy to test , jump the bike from car battery , if it starts its the battery
my rear brake wires broke to , I soldered spearker terminals yes normal stereo speaker terminals to the wires and it allows simple plug/unplugging (you might need clean off old pre-existing solder on brake plug itself though)
and my disks are identical
-
Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
I have another battery so I'll try that tomorrow. Hopefully that is it. Speaker terminals sounds like a good idea. I'll definitely have to clean the solder off because it's still there. I wouldn't mind this being an easy fix. Thanks for the info, Dan.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Bikes don't have starter solenoids per say, like an auto does.We have the better and easier to deal with starter relay. If the relay is clicking when the start button is pushed then the relay is working.Pull the starter and see if it will run being powered directly from a car battery.I have has starter clutches lock up and destroy the starter's internals.
