Yes, they were VERY on top of things. It took them about a week or so to get me my shipping info. If you have an issue contact them, they had a great customer service when I ordered from them. And, flatering will get you everywhere when it comes to customer service. I ALWAYS told them they were doing a great job and I got my bike quickly and on time.
Goodbar, I'll get some better pics for you soon

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Thanks for the info Goodbar and Skullwork. I wasn't able to find those SinCity bars on ebay but I am sure I can find them somewhere. I am only 5'7" and about 168 lbs. I am trying to figure out how I would set up the bike before I even order it. I have told my wife on multiple occasions that I want this bike for my 40th birthday in July. I am even going to pay for half! What sprocket do you guys suggest I use given my weight? Roads are flat here (NY).

Make sure you can get it legal in NY before you purchase! For some reason I think I read somewhere in this thread that NY was a tough state to legalize this bike. I'm 180lbs and I'm running the 35t with a 108 main jet and a 40 low jet (going to install my 42 soon) and I love it!
This is the bar I am riding http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-black-Mo...09c78a&vxp=mtr
I'm 5'10" and I have to lean into these bars, but thats what I was looking for. This sets you on the bike like a newer chopper would, kinda stretched out.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Here is a link to the bars that i bought:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ls_o02_s00_i00
i believe they are the same as the ebay link posted but cost a few dollars less.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Sivilized: Too bad you have till wait till July! Id move my birthday to May 1st if I was you! By getting the bars first you then have to get the bike to go with them. Any bars are better than the factory ones. Layed out or leaned in you will be happy with the new bars. Pick up some grade 8 allen bolts for the new bars. At 14 dollars you could have a change of bars monthy.
at 168lbs you could do a 33 sprocket but 35 as most do is a nice in between. At only 30 bucks for one... you can also go to a 33 later.

he's not starting the bidding that low anymore though.....bidding starts @ $15.75 with $13.80 ship.......still cheaper on amazon even if you are the only ebay bidder. Sorry but i like amazon better when i have issues.
After reading your earlier post about safer, i called them up. They said my bike shipped already and they are supposed to email me the tracking info today.
thanks

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Attn senior members, I have a question. While I was swapping out my electrical box I noticed that there were an extra set of hot and ground wires without a place to plug them in. Any ideas?

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Skullworkz, did you use a lift gate service or just muscle it off of the truck? Also was any cheap tools included?
thanks

I just muscled it off with 2 of my buddies. It's not really that heavy, even with the metal crate. I used 2 small furniture dollys from harbor freight ($8 each) to move it from the street to the garage. There were not any tools and if there were I would have tossed them in the garbage anyway. Tell me, would YOU use cheap chinese tools on your new bike? I would imagine that those tools are the same quality as the tools you can buy at family dollar.

Yep, that is the way to go. Got mine in TX and although the seller seems to have zero after the sale support I am greatful I did not have to hasstle with the TT&L.
Great mods here. Still owe a bit on my bike since I used my CC but it will be paid off early Feb!
Noticed the exhaust pipe starting to rust a bit but to be expected. I have a fix for that I think. Too damn cold to ride today but I started my bike and let it idle a bit just to charge the battery and to listen to the engine run. How strange am I right? LOL.
Was thinking about the braided stuff myself but wonder how long it would last. Looks damn good though. Keep those mods coming. This thread is worth its weight in gold!

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Just purchased the leather for a custom tank cover. I will be working on that for the next few days. Will post pics when completed.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
I read earlier in this post about a law preventing us from registering this bike in the 5 boroughs of New York. But I live on Long Island which is not in the boroughs. I could have sworn that someone on this forum has one of these registered in New York. I guess I could always buy a frame and title from an old bike and title it as something else. That's what the guys from Kikker say to do with their bikes.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Well now I see what happened to Gardo...
http://www.motorcycleforum.com/showthread.php?t=107533
Guess I won't be getting one now :(

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
However...Aboshi said you can register it in NY, but he never tried because the bike had problems. Ugh, what to do?
-
Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
gardo had his issues and was the only on these boards that did.Not sure why.. do not seem to understand fully. But I will say,I had no trouble at all reg-in the bike, and I now have almost 8000 miles on it and not a single problem. I maintain it, and it rides great.I have had small issues ,but remember you get whhat you pay for, and the upgrades I made on it seem to do the job. some of the issues were my fault, only through ignorance of the part in question. But it is all good now.I wouldn't trade it in for anything. It is my daily rider when the weather is good, and i ride everywhere around the city as much as I can..cause I like it.I get alot of peeps given me the thumbs up on her as well. Yeah it is always good to do your research before you buy, and i hope that just cause one person seemed to have an issue with the DMV doesn't discourage you about the bike itself. Good luck and hope you can ride soon.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
I met Gardo at the PIT booth at last year's Dealer Expo, or maybe the year before. I thought he worked for them in some capacity. Seems like a nice guy. I wish him well if he's left our little group.
Now on to why I logged on. I got an email from Sunny about what I'll refer to as the Second Generation Bubba. I'm sorry I can't copy and paste the photos but I'm sure they'll show up on the web site once the old inventory is gone.
Major changes I can spot:
-Black Springer Front end
-Black (10"ish) Z-bar handlebars
-Fuel tank appears to be more of a Sportster shape - Nice
-A proper solo seat, smooth upholstered black vinyl
-Upgraded brakes F&R (no details given)
Wholesale cost has gone up so expect the street price to be a few hundred $$$ more that last Summer's price.
/M
[EDIT: I just noticed that there is no front fender on the springer. That may cause some legality issues in some areas.]

Hello all, I am lurking on this thread right now because it is my hopper that I will be able to get the Df bobber. I live on Jacksonville, fl, and registration is my number one concern. My big question is why not register one self as a bike builder?

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Here is a link to scooter depot for the new look..
http://www.scooterdepot.us/250cc-ape...kes-p-731.html
Nice stuff there.. I may have to look into maybe a second bike.. or perhaps see if I can buy the parts to upgrade mine this way from them.
-
Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
To be honest, I am not fan of the springer front end look. It seems they only have 4 regular RTB's left and in blue only. Someone could probably make an offer and get one even cheaper.
-
Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
There are actually two new versions of the bike..one with the springer and one with drag bars, both limited to 95 made, and both 2012 releases. I kinda like the springer look, but not the bars on that bike. The seat looks good too..but again, I bought my bike to make the changes to it that I wanted..and buying one done to me isn't as fun. but still cool. I think they will sell all of them one way or another..and I am glad to see that they have done two other versions with upgrades on them.
-
Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Ahh, you mean this one: http://www.scooterdepot.us/250cc-spo...kes-p-731.html
Ya I like that one better, but still, not worth the extra $500 bucks when a set of bars like that costs about $30.00 shipped. I am going to look more into NY DMV and figure it out.
-
Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
i like the changes made to the new bikes but personally not near worth the extra $$ especially compared to the older version current price. Some people might not like the fact that they only come in black. im just glad i got my order in before the cheap ones were gone. they can send me any color and i'll be happy as hell.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
First Off Welcome Bikerfool, hope you get your DF more choices now. I dont believe anyone couldnt get their bike reged in Fla but I could be wrong. Chime in here. I like the springer have the regular front end, you have a choice now both ways, NOTE:the springer also has no front fender. Like the seat. I see they plumbed the crankcase breather into the carb now, reversed the brake calipers and added a thin rear fender brace. They also added vibration bar ends and got rid of oil tank reflector and other little things. Similar Springer front ends are worth 500 new,
-I just added my new seat springs by CNC machining a new 1/8 aluim pan bracket that just bolted on with existing 4 bolts so it fits into the exising seat bracket. Then just added 2 cotter studs in the pan and two for the bottom that are a drilled
and tighten type.
Ill post picts of the new seat pan this week as my bud wants one.
-Also added a very thin polished aluim plate and side beads to cover the downtube area that has those big welds. Just attched with 3M outdoor mounting tape.
- Added smooth rivet look caps into the hex head handlebar risers. They can be pryed out easy enough if needed. These clean up the look.
- re-plumbed the SAi valve so it has a breather instead of the plastic fake breather ( just for looks mainly.) Attachment 9867 Attachment 9869Attachment 9870
- Added a Brass Vintage Motorcycle Fire extinguisher also today, polished it up and made a lable on my vinyl printer and adobe.
I will post a pict of the seat spring. I still have the mono spring also being used, works great and will handle my 190 pounds now with ease and I like the look of the chrome springs

The problem with the non registration states is that the DF250 is NOT c.a.r.b. compliant. (it is an emissions thing) My state started this requirement in 2008 and the Dong Fang is not on the approved "list".
