They are 5.5" on the center width which don't clear by much.
EDIT: Just got back from a ride with the new bars and they fit me much better that the drag bars.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Update - So i just called Scooterdepot and they are on with the NJ DMV and the Chinese manufacturer to get this squared away. Looks like a paper work error. I should be getting another call later on with more information. Lets hope for a good and quick resolution.

You are the first one to register this bike in NJ like I was in FL so maybe this is to be expected. Hopefully it will work out for you.
I mean the bike is in the national database. Bureaucrats like to make a mountain out of a mole hill.

Although that sux I am happy you are going to get a full refund!
I would def get a CCW bike, you can get it from http://pitmotorsltd.com/
I spoke with them a few weeks ago and they are good people, also your not too far from their location and they will hand deliver it to your door if you want =)
They will also let you go there and tool around on it to make sure you like it.
On a side note I called countyimports but yet again today...
After speaking to their accounting dept. The lady tells me that she has not got a tracking # from the manufacture!!?? Now thats hard to believe when they claim that they stock these bikes in their warehouse, so I guess they lie about that. They must get drop shipping done from scooterdepot, and scooterdepot just hasn't given them they tracking # yet so I am waiting on a phone call. I just hope I dont run into the same issue as you because I would have just got a CCW for all this trouble and time, even thought it costs a little bit more $. The CCw has a longer rake then the dong fang and looks to be more polished (better parts) but is has the same motor and wheels.

Strange call but I am glad that you are getting a full refund from scooter depot. I wonder what the issue is with NJ and is it only with NJ?

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
I'm pretty sure they jazzed up the bike when going in for EPA inspection, but right after it passed they had to put on the cheap parts again to make it profitable. I know it took CCW guys 10 months to go through their inspections, and if you look at their bike it shows! Hands down their bike is clearly made with better parts. They also own 1/3 of the factory where they are having their bikes produced so they have an American on hand there doing QC at all times.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Aboshi and anyone else who bought this bike - REFUSE DELIVERY and GET your MONEY BACK!!!! The DF250RTB is not legal in the states NY,NJ, and PA you will not be able to reg the bike.
i sent P.I.T motorsltd a Message and Bret called me right back. guess what guys the DF250RTB is an illegal copy of the CCW Heist. there is a cease and desist against the manufacturer of the DF250RTB The bikes are in the country illegally.
I must say in speaking with Brett, he saw this posting and was real forth coming about the Heist gave me their WMI and confirmed that the Bike is legal in all 50 states.
We were on the phone for a good 40 minutes and is looking to help me out and offered to assist with getting the DF250RTB shipped back.
these are classy guys and I will take them up on the offer to check out the facility and the bikes and even offed to buy me a hoggie (sub or grinder depending on your area)
just because of his call I may be going with this bike.
Now the fight to get my money back from Scooterdepot
i will most likely head down on Friday and keep you guys informed

jape,
I already posted the warning about the DF250RTB on Chinariders.
However the bike is in the fed database of legal bikes.
The DF250RTB is not an illegal copy of the Heist. Take a look at the two bikes and you will see that there are many differences. Don't believe all that the salesman tells you.
Take what the Heist people say about their bike with a grain of salt.
I asked them to correct their misleading statement about their engine being 250cc on their blog and they deleted my message. It's a 229cc 167FMM engine as identified in the Cycle World article.
-
Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
barnone he was forthcoming about the engine being a 229cc with me on the phone. PIT is the actual national distributor of the Bike. I'm going down on Friday with my brother to get a feel for things. Will be letting you guys know more
the listing on the registry is an old listing that is no longer valid

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Gordo,
I sent a email to the guy that I bought my bobber from to warn him about the registration problem in NJ,NY, and PA. Interested to hear his response.
-
Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Gordo:
What did they say the reason it cant be regged in NY, NJ ,PA for?
I just got off the phone with the manager (Justin) from countyimports and told him whats going on and told him to turn the truck around because I am not going to accept delivery. He assures me that I will be able to register here in NY and he has no idea on what the issue would be, so he is going to call the head DVM in Albany tomorrow and get back to me. I still don't trust it because if you couldn't get it regged in NJ there is no way in hell I am going to be able to reg it in NY. The manager of countyimports also said that NY was never an issue but NJ, and PA have been problem states... I don't believe that what so ever. meah this is starting to piss me off :P

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Gordo,
You can probably get a pallet at a Harley or Japanese bike dealer. I've done that in the past to ship a bike.
-
Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Or maybe the one it came in is in the shed?:icon10:

Built one with Some 2×4x8 & 2×3×8 studs I had when I Renovated the house & built the new kitchen. Pallet is built, I Bike is Secured, Gas drained, battery popped, & pegs Mirrors all boxed up. Now all I need to do is shrink wrap and say bye-bye
They are supposedly picking up the bike tomorrow between 12-6.
Jape that pallet was dead upon arrival LoL

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Unfortunate but at least they are saying they will refund your money, I will have to completely double check details before I buy. There is a Heist dealer about a hour from me, I might have to at least give a peak over see what they are asking and how it might feel. Im hoping to get 1500 for my sled and trailer to offset most of the cost but if I end up going with the Heist may take longer.
Barnone, mx-motorsports, have you heard anything about them, they are in miami with a showroom and warehouse carrying the dong fang, their price is a little higher then scooter depot and say they will beat any price by 10% not much of a deal breaker for me but if all that be true I might use them.
-
Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
ok got confirmation the bike is getting picked up after 6pm EST was up till almost 3am building, securing and breaking down the bike for shipment. Its all wrapped in pretty green shrink wrap (It is St. Patrick's day after all) and waiting to go.
So I had filled the tank last Saturday they stated it has a 3.8Gal tank but I had gotten just over 2 gal when i emptied it.
Another thing I just noticed was that most places are advertising it as a soft tail style when in fact its a rigid.
Maybe I'm just feeling bitter and picky but this really has left a bad taste in my mouth for buying a motorcycle off the internet.
No more catalog shopping for motorcycles online LoL
All in all though it hasn't dissuaded me from Chinese Bikes I'll just ned to be a bit more thorough when looking to buy one

the WMI is the 3 digit manufacture identification code the the states use to track vehicle manufacturers and registration.
What i found out that the reg is only good for a year and that the manufacturers need to reup every year to stay in good standing

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Ok so here is the run down on what I have been doing all day long.
I called the tech services for DMV here in NY. after about 30 mins. of explaining whats going on the guy wanted to look up the model # because he couldn't find
Dong Fang or DongFang anywhere in his database. He then looked up DF250RTB and the second he brought that up went WHOOOH Yeah thats an illegal manufacture and you wont be able to register or title that bike here, but then he said he really cant tell me any more without a VIN # then he can truly tell if it is an illegal manufacture or not. I wont have my create here till the 24th so unless Gordo wants to PM me his VIN I'll have to wait. I was also on the phone with Justin from countyimports again today and let him know what DMV said, He was like thats total bullshit because he has been on the phone with the manufacture all day today looking in to this and hes telling me DF250RTB is not even the model # and its not registered under Dong Fang so there was no way that the guy from DMV could be correct. He had also said how did this guy from DMV look anything up without the VIN... He had also told me that people have registered this bike here in NY so it shouldn't be an issue but hes still talking with the manufacture to get everything sorted out. Justin also said the bike is in rout but is something becomes and issue he will turn the truck around. So now I will just have to hold my breath and wait for this thing to get here, and then wait nearly another week to get the MSO and see if I can get this thing registered...
So maybe with barnone's bike, Florida got it right and put in the correct manufactures name.
*edit*
Oh and my handle bars just came in =)

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Well they just picked up the bike and its on it way back to CA either way all the EPA tags say DONGFANG there is something not right about the whole thing. Did the guy from county Imports give you the correct model/make of the bike and who it is regged under

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
No he didn't, I am going to call him again tomorrow and get more details.

See if he has the manufacturers correct WMI code its the first 3 characters of the Vin# for manufacturers the one I have is LXD for the dong fang.
Now if he stated that NY is BSing you I'd question it all the tags on the bike state that ningbo donfang is the manufacturer of the bike the model number on the vin tag is DF250rtb i have pics to prove it
the engine family is ADFGC .229MMA
