Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
I did'nt want to take of the tank yet. I'll try the wiggle. From seeing what I can it all need to be recoverd anyway. There is a plastic cover that fits over the harness end leaving all the plug connections exposed to the full brunt of forward motion. So I guess it looks like sooner rather than later.
I wasn't shure where the flasher was. I figured ther or in that plastic can under the seat. both are jamed packed.
Thanks

It seems pretty sturdy and comfortable for the small amount of time I rode on it. I weigh 180 and the spring shock supported me fine over some pretty good bumps.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Bob, Thanks for the picts of the seat, everyone now and in the future will appreciate seeing it. Tons better looking than our BMW type rubber one. As far as your carb crank breather. Get any carb breather off ebay that is 42 mm as yours will have the hole in it, heres the one I got its about 8 bucks plus they have the original style on fleabay also: http://www.ebay.com/itm/300727369576...84.m1497.l2648
Original: http://www.ebay.com/itm/42MM-PRO-Sta...34de3d&vxp=mtr
then just take the crank case hose and termanate it with any style of air breather filter you can get at any auto store. I would not want my crank breather going directly in the carb. not sure what they were thinking with this solution. Your jets could get contaminated with sludge and clogged not to mention other potential minor issues like oil in your carb. You could check out my photo album or skullworkz posts to see what we did. EPA crap, thinking they were going to burn off excess oil and fumes. besides the carb is sucking air and will potentally suck a bunch of oil right into your carb on a hot day on a hard run when your oil is thin and hot.:confused1:

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
You're Welcome, Pics show I've got a lot more cleaning to do. Thanks for the tips on the breather I'll check ot the links.
Don't hesitate to offer any more advice as I can use all I can get.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Bob: Sweet Bike! I love the new seat and gas tank. Th flasher is in the fake oil can under the seat. My bike started doing the same thing with the turn lights staying on but not flashing, there was a short in the flasher when I wiggled the wires on the flasher they started working. I went to the auto store and got a generic flasher and took the circuit board out of it and saudered it in replacement of the stock one just using the stock flasher housing. They work fine now but flash twice as fast, I don't mind though I figure I'm more visible that way, try wiggling the wires on the flasher and see if that makes them come on.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
I looked in the can. on mine the starter relay is the first thing you see and it's pretty easy to fool with. the rest of the stuff is in there pretty tight. Is this the way yours is? I can't really tell from looing in there where the flasher is. Should I take the whole can off and remove all the parts?
-
Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Mine has a foam or rubber piece with cutouts to hold the different electronic parts, the flasher was just a small black round piece about the size of a normal car flasher but instead of prongs to plug it in directly to a fuse panel it had wires running off it, it looks cramped in there but everything should slide out and stay in place and slide back in pretty easy.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Thanks Babyswiss, mine has what looks like a bracket holding things together that's integral to the can mounting bracket. I think I will find out what's in side it this week end. I work 2/8's and 2/12's with three days off. Along with a off grid solar project I've got going I'll have plenty to keep me busy for awhile looks like.
Thanks again Goodbar, have an air filter coming. Can get a crank case breather from work. I'll post picks when I get that done.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
I tried wiggling wires and that didn't seem to go anywhere so I pulled apart the stuff in the oil can. I found that all the components were snugly fixed in a rubber holder. I found the flasher and it is getting 12v, so I think the relay itself is bad. I found one on the net that has the same wire colors and same plug only white instead of red, the little rubber clip will come off, so I'm going to gamble the 12 bucks and order one. Thanks again Babyswiss for the location.
The certificate of origin came with the bike and the dealer said to just fill in his name. Is this all you need to get it registered. He said he was sending the title but I don't think he has a clue.
I looked for the part at scooter depot but they don't have a parts page. When I did call them before they didn't know if the bike had a kick start so that tells what they know about what they are selling.

Not sure about your state but here in illinois i had to mail that copy that you got back to the dealer from who i made the purchase. They are supposed to mail me back a copy that the DMV will accept and issue me a plate for.
The last email the dealer i got mine from reads like this:
"I received the paperwork that you sent in on January 29, 2012. However, what you sent me is called a factory shipping copy. It is not the actual paperwork that is required to be submitted for registration. I have requested that paperwork from the manufacturer on your behalf. Once it arrives to my office, I will process it, and mail it out to you immediately."
People have said that this process takes around 6 weeks, so thats how long i will wait before enlisting help from my credit card. This is why I bought in January to possibly ride by July. Good thing your on it cause it may take some time to work out.

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
First thing i did this morning after recovering from last nights drinking was to get out to the bike. I re wired the battery. Opened the fuel line, then choked it. and for what seemed like 15 minutes took 4-6 minutes trying to get the bike started. In the Instrument/ Speedo I seen a low battery icon appear. After getting high from the gas fumes I realized that engine kill switch was in off position. Duh!!!!!!!
81 Degrees here seems like a perfect day for a bike ride.
But i have to ask a question. On the right side underneath the engine kill switch is a Control that shows "from Right to Left" Dot, 2Lights, One light. Any idea what that is?

Re: Dong Fang DF 250 RTB Bobber Information
Crelow: That control is the inactive light switch that the bikes have, sounds like other parts of the world allow you to manually turn you lights on and off or just your parking lights on and whatever, i dont think that switch does anything on our bikes.

That's funny because I also went out clubbing last night. Felt it when I woke up LOL. Some Sun and Air cleared the cobwebs in my brain though. Nice day to ride. It felt good.
And I did the kill switch mistake when I first started it. I think it was on KILL by default from the factory.
But wouldnt ya know it something broke. My horn didnt work. So I spent $7 for a decent one on ebay. Think it's made in France so it should be better than the chinese one that came stock. It seems that for the life of this bike, all the replacement parts I got of ebay so it will enventually be an ebay bike.
I didnt know the guage had a low battery warning on it. Dont think mine has that and it's the 2010 model. I did notice a small spider inside my guage though. Kind of creeped me out and I have no idea how it got in there. Maybe that's an omen?

Correct. There is a section in this thread on how to rewire it to work. I personally am too afraid to take my gas tank off to do it though. If it aint broke, dont fix it.

Didn't you know, you should never choke your dongfang early in the morning after a night out parting......

I finally got my stripped out clutch lever fixed with steel inserts. They barley had room to fit. I never noticed before but the back plate has an up - down position, and i suspect that when i changed my handlebars to drag style i inadvertently put the plate on upside down and stripped the lever out quite easily since it doesn't fit exactly right that way.Attachment 10239Attachment 10240

Attachment 10241Attachment 10242Also removed the air injection smog pump equipment and installed the home-made engine block off plate, and carb vacuum block which came from autozone. Too cold outside to wash it, but hopefully soon.

What does a carb vacuum block do?

Keeps the carb from sucking in to much air and causing rough running.
