pulse adrenaline 150cc big bore kit fitted
hi guys, as you may have seen ive been pestering about the kit,
i finally ordered one off ebay and with the help of my mate (who happens to be a very good part time bike mechanic) we fitted the kit today,
the first thing i did was to paint the barrel black so that it didnt stand out so much when it was fitted.
it only really took around 2 hours to go from rolling the bike in to rolling it back out again, everything went smoothly and there were no problems.
i rode the bike home afterwards, i cant abuse it yet as it needs to run/bed in again but initial feelings are very good, there is much more torque than i was expecting, :icon10:
here are a couple of pictures from the build and a short video i took of it running, apologies for the sound quality, i do not have a proper camera only iphone4.

Re: pulse adrenaline 150cc big bore kit fitted
a couple of things i forgot to mention, i changed the pilot jet to 17.5 and the main jet to 115.
also about a week after the kit arrived, fedex sent me a bill for £15, aparently import duty and administration charges, cheeky fuckers (pardon my french)!

Re: pulse adrenaline 150cc big bore kit fitted
I'm ordering mine soon, I can't wait to fit it :3
You should grind off the 147cc mark if you aren't going to declare this to your insurer and/or you are still on a CBT as I'm pretty sure that this invalidates your tax and insurance otherwise. I was looking into breaking in procedures today and a lot of sources say that you should push it a little bit and bring the revs up quite high as the piston rings will seat better.
Where did you get the pilot jet from?
-
Re: pulse adrenaline 150cc big bore kit fitted
Jet came from eBay, if I can find the link I'll post it here,
I did think about ditching the markings, may still do if I decide I like the performance

Re: pulse adrenaline 150cc big bore kit fitted
should be a minimum of 500 miles to run it in properly excessive revs during this stage with cause it have a increased friction that will make the cylinder wall more scored than if it was looked after during the 500 miles a engine that isnt run in might be 1-2mph quicker but then its life is signifcantly reduced some say up to 10,000miles less in a car engine by not running it in carefully

Re: pulse adrenaline 150cc big bore kit fitted
I've always broken stuff in gently, the original piston had hardly any marks at all on it, and the cylinder bore was unmarked, 700km of very gentle varied engine speeds, then 4000km of quite hard use, plenty of full throttle and 9000rpm and more!

Ah that makes more sence actually I'd rather an engine to last longer I suppose.

Disaster about 62mm mod http://www.motorfans.com.cn/bbs/t_17307341_1.htm
"barrel" modded locally / Piston from "net" seller. The conclusion in that thread IS something done wrong locally for the barrel
-
Re: pulse adrenaline 150cc big bore kit fitted
What?!
I can't translate, is that the same as my kit?
-
Re: pulse adrenaline 150cc big bore kit fitted
You got the eBay one didn't you? You can see in the pictures that the cam chain tentioner hole is a different shape so you must have a different one.
-
Re: pulse adrenaline 150cc big bore kit fitted
Yeah, it's not quite the same, oddly it looks as though the mating surface is machined flush with the casting where the head sits, my barrel was machined so there is a raised section,
The barrel in the picture still has the port for the air injection, what bike is it off, I'm on my iPhone and can't translate the page?
-
Re: pulse adrenaline 150cc big bore kit fitted
The f***ed barrel is from a Suzuki EN125 machined "locally" in Guangdong. The cylinder is for a type of mini van aka "462" http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=14580014296
Translate NOT always works for pages in forum (contains dialect/ typo/ slang etc...). The "UID: 217223 / EN?? / "piggy" avatar) analyzes what's the cause. Discuss with mate (part time bike mechanic) for more dtails after the ??? translate result.

There's also safer mod: Con rod (15mm hole) + WY125 +0.5 (ie. 57mm) piston

62mm kit is from China no matter u buy from fleabay or taobao.com via agent . It uses a flat-top "14mm pin" 62mm ( Non-std for this size ie Difficult to find ) piston
Fleabay 's picture are the older type. Barrel made by ??? brand / Rings are ??? made
taobao had 2 types Modded EN125 which stamped as 12? http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=13696883910 OR 14? http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=13385655225& (Once upon a time Suzuki makes a 62mm 150 in Taiwan http://blog.xuite.net/ranbon3/twblog/138738404) Barrel is for that model. Trimmed ONLY & cylinder is 100% from factory unlike the moded EN which WiLL had diaster as #8 if u're lucky, (Unheard from this seller so far)

I'm in the middle of fitting mine now; I've had a lot fo trouble with a stuck cylinder head nut so it's taken me a couple of days. I ordered this one http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=13385655225& and I used the taobao agent taobaonow which are very good; they will accept paypal if you ask them nicely and they give 40% disscounts on ems shipping which only took about 2 weeks to arrive. The big bore kit it's self is pretty easy to fit since our engine is of a simple design (the top end anyway). In addition to the big bore kit you will need a good quality socket set, RTV sealant/instant gasket, torque wrench (10 - 80nm), needle nose pliers (for the piston pin retainer clips), solvent to remove old gasket residue, rubber mallet (to safely break components free) and the haynes manual for chinses motorcycles which will tell you everything you need to know about fitting it.
Oh yeah and don't bother with the race/performance CDI; they don't work.

Re: pulse adrenaline 150cc big bore kit fitted
Thanks but when I click the link it just a bunch of sqaures, a pic of the big bore kit and more sqaures ? Is it meant to be like that lol

Re: pulse adrenaline 150cc big bore kit fitted
Oh thats because you don't have chinese characters availiable on your computer, you may be able to copy the squares into google translate. When translated the english is so broken it's really hard to understand but the listing dosen't give any details on how to fit it or anything.
Basically it says:
When breaking in the new piston stay below 40mph for 600 miles
The piston supplied has a flat top (which is what you need), not domed
(something about an oil passage)
The kit is "racing class quality" (apparently)
kit includes a cylinder block, piston, piston rings, piston pin, retainer rings, gaskets
The heat sink is larger than the origional for better cooling
The kit's bore size is 62mm, the origional 125cc cylinder is 57mm
The pin diamater is 14mm
The seller sells 2 different versions of the cylinder; the cheaper one has 147cc stamped on it and needs to be grinded off, the more expensive one has 124cc on it as it is a bored out 124cc cylinder and the heat sink is the same size as the origional cylinder (I think), but as humanbeing said the more expensive one has been known to shatter and wreck the engine.

Re: pulse adrenaline 150cc big bore kit fitted
Arrrrrg I finally got the bloody thing on after hours and hours of trying. If I had some better quality tools this would have been 10 times easier. So far it seems good; I've been for a little test drive and it feels like it has some more power than before, I can actually crusie at around 25mph in 5th gear now. I'm going to try and break it in as soon as possible so that I can see what it can really do.

De-cat is more useful than CDI mod.
This http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=10286665697 Denso (w/o rev limits, More aggressive curve ) is the prefect match in theory BUT it's age ...
4-curve http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=9153886492
If u're crazy about this topic, why NOT use a "programmable" & create ur own curve/ spark strength ... http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=7580391030

Re: pulse adrenaline 150cc big bore kit fitted
offtheclockuk what performance changes did you notice after you installed the big bore kit in terms of top speed? I've not tested mine fully but I can only manage about 55mph at wot. I don't know if I need to change the gearing or jetting.
-
Re: pulse adrenaline 150cc big bore kit fitted
Plenty more torque came as a result of the mod, I've done about 1000k on it now, so it's pretty much run in, I went next size up on the pilot jet and 112.5 on the main, I think probably I could go up one again for the main jet it tails off around 60-65 mph,
The rear sprocket it pretty much shot after 5300km, when I order a replacement I'm going to get a new one with 2 teeth less to further reduce the need to suffer high revs just to cruise along
-
Re: pulse adrenaline 150cc big bore kit fitted
Yeah I've pretty much got the same results as you, the top speed should be a fair bit more though, I could pretty much hold 70mph with my 125cc cylinder. I think I need to change the jetting a little more and fit my 17 tooth sprocket and see how that goes.

Re: pulse adrenaline 150cc big bore kit fitted
Hi offtheclockuk.
I'm thinking of doing this to my Apache 2010 plate. It needs some TLC so I'm thinking of doing all this too.
Could you help me out in terms of which one you ordered (link if you could please!) And any advice or do's/donts. And from what I've read there doesn't seem to be any top end speed increase at all?
Basically, is it worth doing? Thanks in advance buddy.

Kit from here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SUZUKI-GS1...item1e73652bde ask for the flat piston. Also ask if you can get a spare set of gaskets and piston rings since if you need them in the future they will be a pain to get.
Get your self a good socket set and a Haynes manual for chinese motorcycles, follow the manual and double check everything and you will be fine.
It's been about 5 or 6 months since I installed my big bore kit and I think it was worth it. I think I have gained a lot of low end power but not much power in the high rmps because the chlinder head, cam and carb can't cope with the extra 20% of airflow needed, because of this I am now unable to go above 8.5k rpms and going from 7k to 8.5k is slow. Fitting a 17 tooth front sprocket did help with this since I can do 70mph at about 7200 rpm whereas before it would have required maybe 8000 or more. I also upgraded my carb to a 26mm which gave me a gain in top speed of about 5mph on average. I have a camshaft from the 200cc version of my engine which I can't be arsed to install but I think it will help with the lack of power at high rpms once fitted. Boring out the carb boot that sits between the carb and the cylinder head to 26mm should help too.

Re: pulse adrenaline 150cc big bore kit fitted
So far I have not had a chance to lay hands on these Suzuki based engines, and I'd like to know this: is it possible to increase displacement of 125 cc engine to 200 cc, using parts (crankshaft, piston, cylinder, head...) from the same Suzuki based 200 cc engine?

Thanks Spencer, very helpful. Would i need anything else other than that kit and spare gaskets and piston rings etc, just fit and go? No upjetting or anything? And where can i get a new carb and new 'boot' (im thinking of an inlet manifold? Same thing?)
