JH600 and JH600 B fuel consumtion
Hey Guys and Gals,
So I have been running around on my new JH600B for a few days now... luv'n it right now. I plan on going to the Su Zhou tank testing ground in the near future.
So I went out to day and skipped work to do a full day riding the Jailiing and see how she (JH600B code named "Chan Chu") handles on the 318 and off road. I also went to check the actual distance I could cover before needing to refuel. I am astonished to see a return of only about 190-200 kms before the fuel bars drop to the last one:eek2:
Thats just better then my HD 883R (peanut tank 12.5L). Hell my CJ will get 200-250 and we all no how "efficient" they are(the CJ's have 21L tank with 18L usable).... But before I start coming to any conclusion I want to here from the rest of the the JH600 community....
What are you guys getting? I am specifically interested in the B guys chiming in, but the two wheelers info would be great for comparison ...
Re: JH600 and JH600 B fuel consumtion
I guess no one checks the message boards during the xmas and western new year holiday.... Okay.... Bump!
Re: JH600 and JH600 B fuel consumtion
I fill up between 180 and 200 km on my 2 wheel JH600. I try not to let it get down past the second bar. I do not like to walk.
Re: JH600 and JH600 B fuel consumtion
I also fill up my 2009 JH600 pretty regularly. The best I get is about 4.2 liters/100km (or 55 miles per gallon to my fellow murricans). The worst is 5 l/100km or 47 mpg.
Given that the tank holds 19.5 liters (I've measured), I don't get nervous till my trip meter shows 350km since the last fill-up, even if I'm down to no bars on the gauge. That's a fair piece of distance.
cheers.
Re: JH600 and JH600 B fuel consumtion
So I guess I should hope for around 250-300 on a B if I really ride economical ..... not so great... I read on an early Jialing ad somewhere that the two wheel 600 could get 450kms at 80kph.... guess they revised that... I was hoping to squeeze out at least 380-400 :pigsfly2::pigsfly2:but that not going to happen.... Now where did I put that jerry can????:eek2:
Re: JH600 and JH600 B fuel consumtion
Where are the "b" guys... they have yet to chime in????

Hi from Beijing
"B" owners are few and far between - foreign "B" owners are as rare as a foreigner in China in 1970. I own both the 2 wheel JH600 and the 3 wheel "B" and am apparently the only foreign JH600 owner in Beijing. When I showed up for a JH600 run (all Chinese) with my "B" ... the mouths dropped. This is probably why you've not had much action on this thread.
Anyways, I haven't really checked the mileage, but I think I do better. I'll check it out over the coming weeks and let you know.
A belated merry xmas & HNY to all ... and an apology for disappearing off this site for a while ... family & business matters.
Cheers
Richard

I am working on having an Aluminum aux tank made up to fit the bottom of the sidecar trunk, which is a sort of wierd palce anyway.... fit up 12v self contained fuel put and I guess I am in business for those really long hauls... Like the highway cutting throught the dessert in XingJiang:riding:
Re: JH600 and JH600 B fuel consumtion
hello shanghaifingers, my JH600B (which you've seen during our last trip with H-D to Anji ) usually refuel at 200km, when the the fuel bars turns to the last one. Don't worry, with this last fuel bar, you can continue running another 50km. And if the fuel bar disappears, that means already 250km+, then the fuel alarm light will turn on in yellow, but you can still running about 10km to 20 km. My experience is based on 97 octane fuel, a ECU of 2008 and driving style never below 5000 rpm.
please check my 2 year's ago artical at: http://www.cj750lm.com/thread-23106-1-3.html , anyway pay attention not to try the longest steep slope there, cause our Jialing baby needs rpm (at least 4000) to exert her strength.

Wait a minute, i know that place! It's the tank testing grounds near suzhou! Damn, now i miss suzhou... Nice thread nostalgie, thanks for sharing.

By the way 8L/100km is roughly what i get on my CJ as well if anyone cares.
Re: JH600 and JH600 B fuel consumtion
"Wait a minute" is right ...
Isn't China the best place on earth for amazing one's friends with ... "and now for something completely different" ...
Where else can one zip around a tank testing ground on a military sidecar ... for fun?
Of course, as we all know, nobody back home actually believes our stories about what life is really like here.
Cool link nostalgie, thanks!
Re: JH600 and JH600 B fuel consumtion
cool picture! hahaha, wonderful experience there!
8L/100km was true, driving at 3rd speed at 6000rpm as a tractor from Suzhou to Shanghai, serving for a engine broken down Changjiang sidecar at 1st speed plus its 100kg+ rider .
As a result, my JH600B sounds like a 100K km+ one, but still works great!

Ditto with my JH600A (2-wheel) ... easily get 350 kms out of it.
I've now run several full tanks through my "B" (3-wheel) and I do about 250 kms before I start thinking about filling up. I hit 300 kms once, and it was 115 rmb to fill with 93 (usually 90 or 100 rmb). When I ride with CJs, they usually do two fill-ups for my one.
My 1600cc Victory sucks the gas like no tomorrow, but my little 125s ... I keep wondering if the gas gauge works because they always seems "full". And the 40 rmb fill is refreshing when they do finally get down.
Re: JH600 and JH600 B fuel consumtion
You can easily do 400 km on the JH600 on a full tank of gas, I even just did 60 km on reserve (from the moment the light on the dashboard started blinking) before my bike got crated and put on the truck and it still wasn't empty.
You shouldn't really pay to much attention to those bars on the display. You can have 5 bars, but mostly the gas stations only fill up to 4 bars. Bar 4 and 5 disappear in no time!
I drained the gas tank once, when I suspected to have some water in my fuel. Display showed 2 bars, I forgot exactly how much I took out. But 5 x 2L bottle of coke for sure (+ perhaps another half bottle) + a bit at the bottom of the tank + a bit spilled (in my face, on my hands and the floor). So easily still 11 Liters in the gas tank, while it only showed 2/5 bars.
Re: JH600 and JH600 B fuel consumtion
A 650cc single should get between 4 and 5 litres per 100 kilometres, depending on riding speed and conditions. At a constant 80 km/h it should get around 3.8-39 l/100 km. With several BMW F650 Funduros we achieved between 4.25 and 5.26 l/100 km. The latter figure running it at 140-160 km/h. On those bikes 165 km/h was absolutely flat out (laying on the fuel tank). The Jialing 600 (which has some styling cues from the Funduro) should be able to do 160, although there would not be too many places in China you'd do that. The Funduro was really nice to ride between 100 and 120 km/h and at those speeds it would easily do 300 km before refuelling. It had a 17 litre tank and we often put 14.5 litres in at 300 km (4.8 litres/100 km).
How are people lking the Jialing?

surprise - surprise.... countless posts and threads about the Jialing JH600 bikes (solo / sidecar) via: Advanced Search
Re: JH600 and JH600 B fuel consumtion
The posts telling people to use the search function are now more annoying than posts that precede them.
Plus Rewi just posted a bunch of useful and relevant info, do we really need to shit on him for asking if people like the bike?

mate, not pi@@ing on anyones parade, got time ~ feel free to copy and paste all the Jialing solo / sidecar bike info once again for the lazy people or the ones that do not understand how the the search function works and while your at it, do the same for license plates / driving license / etc. as exactly the same annoying questions pop up over and over and over again...
have a nice weekend, wherever you are......
Re: JH600 and JH600 B fuel consumtion
Thanks Felix for taking care!
