The other DongFang
These are more interesting to me, all they need is for all the plastic and decals to be removed. They need a round standard headlight, better meter cluster and a piece to cover were the fairing married to the gas tank and set of mirrors

They are also manufactured by Donfang…
This model offered by Xinling Motorcycle has the 250cc rebel type engine, but it has the same tank and as you can see the bike looks better without all the bullshit. The model is very common and is sold under many brand names.

A meter set, headlight and mounting bracket and tank cover is all is needed.

Re: The other DongFang
MJH - where do you long-time members buy your parts online. My scooter eats illumination lights, i.e., speedometer, fuel, tach gauges. I even went to the 5 volt rather than the installed 3 volt. However, after taking the damn dash off a gazillion times, the fuel, speedometer, tach needles no longer work. I ordered an entire new assembly. This could get interesting.

Re: The other DongFang
I have never had to buy any parts, only oil filters.
Is it vibrating? Is the cluster vibrating allot? When you ride it put your hand on it and see if it is vibrating. Vibrations can break the filaments in the bulbs.

Re: The other DongFang
MJH - I think the electrical/fuse system is hosed up. The gas seal inside the bulbs (Chinese installed) gets a leak and the bulb turns silver/cloudy. I think I'm good to go now. Thanks.

Re: The other DongFang
MJH - Actually the needles themselves no longer move. I guess I can't get them to seat anymore.

Re: The other DongFang
All the parts and related document in a database, then track each for failure. Send that information back to the factory to address.
A customer should be able to go online and see all related documents, schematics, wring diagrams, parts lists all linked to a VIN that defines a specific model in or as part of a specific production run.
Then as a part fails it records that as a metric (a measurement as a percentage of the total) over time.
From the date of registration to the end of use, what failed, then the goal is to make the number of failures zero for as long as possible.

Re: The other DongFang
They should offer a standard version instead of the $1,700.00 race bike. They could offer it for $1,599.00

The chrome part on the tank should be satin black and the forks need sleeves.

Re: The other DongFang
They also could bring over this dual sport bike as well.

Re: The other DongFang
I like the idea of all of the bikes sharing one engine and as many parts as possible.
They need to keep the prices down and improve the interface to the customer online for parts ordering.
The SR-X is all they need for a sports bike.
They can or could expand the offering of the 250 models.
If they had a good online parts ordering systems then could reduce the phone calls. If they track part failures and send that back to the factory for resolutions then they could end up with a decent offering that sells well.

Re: The other DongFang
This could also be brought over with a 250, lose the decals and add a front disk.
http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/y...50cc_250cc.jpg
They should try to keep the prices under $2,000.00, that being the total cost to the customer after delivery.

Re: The other DongFang
Keeping prices down keeps the volume of sales up, more offerings increases the customer base, not everyone desires the same style bike.

Re: The other DongFang
MJH, that is my exact cluster. Thanks. I ordered it. We shall see what we shall see. Thanks again.

Re: The other DongFang
MJH, I paid $1,100 and change for my 150cc mystery scooter. That included shipping from CA to my door in AZ.

Re: The other DongFang
Yeah they are amazingly low cost…but since factory workers in China only earn on average $200.00 a month and most actually live in factory housing, like a dormitory. Many are also from rural areas and have limited benefits as they are classified as rural and do not have the same rights as others that are classified as urban …most of the profit is concentrated into the hands of a few.
But many of those people may feel today is better then yesterday for them…for now, eventually they will likely get sick of working so much and getting so little?
That little issue is behind all these low cost products and also part of the reason they often break.
