Rieju marathon PRP 125 SM
I know its not a Chinese motorcycle but felt I should share what mods have been done and what will be done soon. A small ride review atm I've only ridden 80 miles on her since picking her up on Thursday the best new that the standard inox exhaust was too restrictive so a nice free DEP race exhaust will be fitted at no cost saving me £186 + labour. The bike has been partially deristricted at the CDI to counteract the over restrictive exhaust it does 75mph. I did test the bike with the CDI restrictor in it was stuck to 45mph showing how much the exhaust was impeding progress when it should be doing 73mph with the restriction.
there is still a restriction to be taken out in the airfilter but i'll get that taken out once iv done 500 kilometers as the manual suggests for a first service at which point the bike should be producing 21bhp as Rieju say it's capable of.
In terms of ride comfort on the bike its a huge improvement on my Yamaha jog RR 50cc scooter which had a comfy seat but the suspension absorbed nothing whereas its the reverse on the Rieju amazing marzocchi USD forks and Gas rear damper only down side is the seat is like sitting on a wooden plank painful after a long ride no problems so far. I'm really surprised by how well its put together the small fuel tank Is a pain. one other mod that's more for my taste than performance is the side stand was modified to stay down when the weight of the bike is taken off as standard it just flicks up which i would of found too easy to engange when trying to stand her up. Tyres fitted are Sava's a slovenian brand grippy even in the pouring rain
Once I have had Patricia Run in the new exhaust fitted and air filter fully unrestricted i'll have to hit the nice twisties near my house properly.

Re: Rieju marathon PRP 125 SM
Your attachments are not showing up, they have to be on the internet to link to them.
You also may consider editing your content its kind of hard to read.
The web page was created by an English teacher living in China at the time….it’s not really for Chinese motorcycles actually more to offer a place for English language support those ridding in china.
I’d like to see what you did and how you did it….but it’s currently showing up as a jumble of text.

Re: Rieju marathon PRP 125 SM
here you go the pictures that should of shown up and yeah i should write abit less but thats just how i get my point across in as descriptive form as possible 18 years of living in the UK put to good use lol
Attachment 4272hopefully it should show how the CDI is unrestricted by a simple wire
Attachment 4271the standard INOX finish Exhaust
Attachment 4273and heres the DEP exhaust im getting free flowing with no catalytic converter in it ;)
hope this explains it abit more than just my words

Re: Rieju marathon PRP 125 SM
That’s awfully easy….I am curious what was the rev limit on that bike?
-
Re: Rieju marathon PRP 125 SM
yh its easy thats why the deristriction is free of charge to those who have run the engine in and got a full license, im not too sure about the rev limit as the digital dash does not have a rev counter

Re: Rieju marathon PRP 125 SM
decided to do abit more snooping around my bike after doing a full clean after getting proper dirty yesterday in the rain abit of polish and some chain lubing needed
Attachment 4301seat removedAttachment 4300this shows how compact everything is under the seat
Attachment 4303Attachment 4302this is the air filter restrictor nice and easy to remove
Attachment 4299for the time being iv put it back in as im still running her in and dont want to void my 2 years warranty but i did test patricia without it in crisper throttle responce and the sound is amplified even more it should be another 2-3 weeks before i ahve the 500kms done and dusted will have new exhaust and full deristricted by then can't wait for that plus the fact i can drift her round roundabouts now will be even more possible when she is at full power
-
Re: Rieju marathon PRP 125 SM
I get it that one wire must be just so it qualifies as a beginner bike, it should still have a maximum rev limit or you could blow the engine. Without the beginner limiter on it the power to weight ratio must be too high to qualify it as a beginner bike. That's a good way to get around that….no need to get another bike once you test past beginner, you just take off the governor.
Nice looking bike….

Re: Rieju marathon PRP 125 SM
they do sell a competition model with proper enduro tyres for racing they call it the competizion version it has fully adjustible USD forks twin radiator set up and a Leo Vince exhaust as standard for more power they sell this as 125 but there is a 200cc which is actually a malossi 183cc kit on the 125 engine which looks identical in terms of the grafix but comes with same parts as my bike.
Attachment 4307heres the full Rieju Marathon Pro Competizion 125 its not surprising that Rieju have become such a dominent force in motocross and six days events in the lower leagues with there low prices and amazing parts

Re: Rieju marathon PRP 125 SM
got a good call today that the exhaust has arrived and could be fitted at 2pm got a few snaps before and after fitting and a few of the dealership PBmotorcycles
Attachment 4322just had to grab a snap next to a Vespa GTS Super 300 love these scooters 90mph on a scooter where do i sign up
Attachment 4324once i got to the dealership i was instantly shown my free race exhaust so light
Attachment 4323Attachment 4320i had to wait a while whislt other bikes were getting built/ serviced so i had a quick stroll throught he dealership and saw these two Baoaotian Monza 125's look lovely in my opinion some classic italian styling with a few chinese details added for example that little black part right in front of the engine has some detailing reminisant of those found in chinese palaces got the chance to ride one whislt waiting not bad pretty nippy things.
Attachment 4321from here my bike was taken into the garage here is when the seat and side panel were removed after this i wasnt allowed to be in the pit area for "safety" reasons but i kept close at the doors to take some pictures of the progress.

Attachment 4328here are a few of the bikes ready to go in to be worked on apart from the Sinnis apache 125 supermoto that belongs to the apprentice who's the same age as me he lives not to far from me will have to do abit of cruising around with his SinnisAttachment 4325A nice new AJS Regal Raptor 125 ready to be put togetherAttachment 4329
Attachment 4326and here it is on the bike absolutley lovely noise which has to be illegal by EU standards could hear it a good half a mile away whislt she ws being test ridden its absolutely lovely since it sits lower hopefully wont smoked my already smoked by OEM indicators. on terms of performance the throttle is crisper/sharper pick up is allot better and it just sounds like a pure motorcross bike unfiltered noise and thats how it should be

Re: Rieju marathon PRP 125 SM
Your Rieju looks fantastic. You'll have to post a little video so we can all appreciate the sound track...
Are these Riejus still 100% Spanish-made or is that a rebadged Chinabike?
cheers!
-
Re: Rieju marathon PRP 125 SM
Euphonius
Rieju are still 100% spanish made there factory is just north of barcelona. the other bikes in the dealership are mostly of chinese, taiwanese and korean built bikes consisting of Lifan, pulse which is just a UK company that buys chinese bikes to be rebadged, AJS another british company that uses chinese bikes, baotian and the only korean brand there Hyosung iv got a video of me revving her but the sound quality isnt too good on my phone so i'll have to get my camera out some time to record it.
Thanks.

Re: Rieju marathon PRP 125 SM
recently iv found the rear suspension to be allot softer than i want it to be when pushing hard round bends since mine is a early production model its a non adjustible olle gas dampened rear shock should get confirmation on a price for the newer adjustible rear shock will have show the difference in the shocks once its been purchased and fitted
Attachment 4463heres a pic of the soon to be released Duke killer black edition it shows what the newer standard rear shock looks like with the compresion adjuster ontop of the gas damper

Re: Rieju marathon PRP 125 SM
another update got my full license now so i can legally get my bike deristricted when she gets serviced this wednesday should be allot better top end punch will have to see what top speed is up to afterwards

Re: Rieju marathon PR0 125 SM
got my bike serviced and at full power can feel a instant difference in pick up might have to get a bigger front sprocket as im so close to hitting the rev limited in 6th if it wasnt the headwind slowing progress had to wait a while during the service and all round check up so i did abit of chinese bike hunting round the dealership
Attachment 4513my bike now at full unrestrictred power i must say allot better looking without a stupid L plate on her
Attachment 4515a moto roma once a spanish brand now chinese owned as i told not sure whether it is or not but not allot of information out there about them
Attachment 4514now i definitely know these are chinese even though the name zontes makes me think they have a spanish like
Attachment 4511they had 3 models of zontes there all 125 in form not to sure where the engines origins are from but they claim to be own design this one came with some very offroad looking rear tyre loked abit weird but its proportions would make for a proper comfy commuter and occassional offrad hack

Re: Rieju marathon PR0 125 SM
Well done on your license and getting the bike to its proper potential! 20hp on such a lightweight bike must be a real hoot. Get the front wheel up in the air yet?

@felix thanks yeah shes real good fun to click up with first, second and third are my wheelie gears since there all really low down havnt tried 4th yet too much head wind on the way home came close to having a off some stupid woman in a car was halfway turning into a smaller road and stopps for no reason was about half a foot away locking the brakes up.
@Slabo aha yeah the moto-roma is quite a nice bike but not allot of info out there about the bike all i know is from what iv been told by the dealer and some guy at college who has one they go alright for a 125 not a bad topspeed and the build quality is quite on par with korean and taiwanese built bikes

apart from having a near crash today iv fitted some new bars in gun metal grey allot more comfortable since they pitch back abit more than the standard ones
Attachment 4532Attachment 4533Attachment 4534the standard ones here in there aluminium finish were nice but i wanted abit more contrast in my bike than just gold, blue, white and aluminium finish
Attachment 4535a nice shade of gun metal grey handle bars were purchased at my local Hein Gericke shop had to rely on pictures to remember the order of where and what was fitted to the bars first, spent a good 10 minutes yesterday deciding what colour bars would be best there were a choice of Chrome, gold, black and these gun metal ones as much as im tempted by the gold ones iv seena picture of gold renthals fitted to this bike too much gold going on for my liking, plus this gun metal is a nice contrast between the gloss black and my standard aluminium finish ones best of all these bars are thicker internally yet lighter.
Attachment 4531this yellow cone came in quite handy when changing the bars over all i need now is a bar pad should get one next week off a friend iv been described its black with gold writing MXB or something like that.
The brand of these bars are called pro sports some austrian company had some interesting time reading the information about them in german been 3 years since i last learnt german only remember the bare basics. :/

Re: Rieju marathon PRP 125 SM
only a day after fitting my new bars and im already thinking of new mods
since i will finish all my coursework for college i'll the rest of the time until term ends making parts fro my bike free metal why not.
so heres what im going to make a tail tidy but different to how everyone has them facing the sky which makes the bike longer, i was inspired by this Yamaha WR125X over in finlad it makes the bike look stumpier and gives the rear a sharper look iv already started to sketch a few designs i'll make some measurements tomorrow after work.
Attachment 4574i just love how it gives a sort of ducktail look hopefully when i change my rear shock it'll raise the rear abit more.
the other thing im going to make is a bash plate since i hate cleaning the bottom of the engine after its been a wet ride im thinking of spraying it in a metallic dark grey to match that of my handlebars.
Attachment 4575im basing my design off the official Rieju product but why spend money on something i can build and personalise to my needs for the bike so far iv only spent £27 on my bike to make her better performance and looks wise, and so far Patricia has been fitted with a Race DEP exhaust, fully deristricted, handlebars changed soon to come an update of my build, paint and installation of my bash plate and tail tidy also recieving a bar pad soon.

Re: Rieju marathon PRP 125 SM
a few updates here and there from the past few weeks i attempted to build a bash plate but some pikey knicked the metal before i got around to drilling and bending it :/ shame and then i didnt have enough time to finish off my tail tidy since iv now completed college and waiting for Oxford brookes uni to get back to see if i'll be studying there in september.
Attachment 4671the angle that i wanted my license plate to be ahhwell i can always fabricate one while im at uni just need to keep hold of all the measurements i made for it.
Attachment 4670half way dismantling the plastic unit
Attachment 4672a picture at the end of my last day at college at donnington after a few shake down test sessions for the formula Ford and radical overall it werent a bad college since i did learn allot about motorsport during my two years studying there
Attachment 4669my lovely new bar pad used but atleast it was free suits the bike nicely having the gun metal grey bars

Re: Rieju marathon PRP 125 SM
Right its been far too long since i last did anything to my bike, just been doing the usual chain tensioning and greasing but now i have decided to sort out the red lining 6th gear by getting a bigger front sprocket standard its a 14 tooth iv orderd a 15 th now should come wednesday a nice simple job will get a 30 miles test ride just to see how much of a difference it will make hopefully my top end will be more comfortable than hearing the bike scream
Attachment 5272here it is even includes drilled and threaded holes for the retainer
Attachment 5273heres some CJ type police bike i saw during my return back to hong kong this was over in the chinese side of sha tau kok

Re: Rieju marathon PRP 125 SM
okay since my last post my sprocket arrived after just one day of it being dispatched great service on behalf of SPR racing UK, the sprockets if not better made than the OEM part from italy, took about 20 mins to get it fiited nice and easy jsut got real messy in the garage, took it for a test ride a good 8mph(12kmh) extra on top of what it used to do and thats not even pushing my bike hard yet is saw 83mph(133kmh) easily whilst still sitting upright and wasnt the most ideal weather conditions today hopefully tomorrow will be a more conclusive long run on the new sprocket.
im surprised going up just on tooth can make such a good difference not bad for a £12.99 sprocket
Attachment 5281heres the new 15th sprocket alsoe comes with retainer plate
Attachment 5280the original rather groggy looking sprocket
Attachment 5282when fitted i was abit worried about the chain clearance on the cover thank fully i had no reason to worry plenty of space left
Attachment 5279fitted and ready for its first test run here

Re: Rieju marathon PRP 125 SM
Great and Nice 125 cc little bike you have.
After installed 16 tooth, how the feeling on the ride both street and trail.
-
Re: Rieju marathon PRP 125 SM
its abit slower offorad having a bigger front sprocket having less torque but on the street its allot faster 130KMH +
at the moment iv switched back to the standard 14th as im only doing short trips and prefer to have the torque for the time being it is nice to have the most powerful 125 4 stroke on sale
iv got another 2 years with a 33bhp restricted license so i'll just do a few small mods during that time to get things perfect then im planning on going on a double BMW ownership 320D m sport and a BMW F800GS
-
Re: Rieju marathon PRP 125 SM
Tks. So mostly onroad and short distance better to use stock.
While 16 tooth is for long distance travelling.......
With my bike I have to stock 2 front sprocket, 1 on use and other under in tool box.
Some friend had 2 carb, 1 for E85 and other for E10-E20 as upcountry
cant easily find E85....Ah ahahahah
BMW F is dual sport while the R is more classic and last forever.
If I am buying, I will get any R-GS or even the older R model.
I like K1, had once ride it. R1150GS is superb cant decide which one
to choose. Final fall into R. This is the reason why I choose R series.
-
Re: Rieju marathon PRP 125 SM
yh its good having two sprockets to choose from only take 10 mintues to change over and get the chain at the perfect tension, too bad i wont be using my bike for a while from september onwards until easter,
i prefer the F800GS as its more useful everywhere not being as specific as the R series plus there lighter and go further on a tank of fuel the only R's i like are the R80GS and the R71 but thats only because the Russian's reversed engineered it to make the URal and then CJ baught the rights to build there own boxer military bikes.
-
Re: Rieju marathon PRP 125 SM
after a week or two on the larger sprockets i had some issues with it first being a lack of top speed in head winds which bored me allot, less torque to get up to speed and it would be harder to shift gear with the larger sprocket something about it just made the gearbox feel looser and less willing to engage, for these reasons iv converted back to the standard 14th sprocket less top speed but atleast it can hold its speed allot better and no problems what so ever with the gears as soon as i reinstalled it.
