As per thread title guys, the rear shock is doing nothing at all, after only 2000 km, does anyone know the dimensions of the original so I can buy an uprated version off eBay?
Many thanks

james,
Have you contacted your dealer to whether its just a bad rear shock that can be changed under warrenty being a 11 plate it must still be in warranty.
if your set on getting a uprated rear shock you will ahve to take the shock out do all the measurements and then find something suitable if not you might have to do a few tweaks to get it to fit and work efficently but on a 125 not allot of wieght being thrown around there, when i wanted to upgrade my rear shock i just deassembled it and added effectively a custom spacer/washer to get more stiffness in the damping.

Hi, thanks for the reply, I haven't spoken to the dealer yet as I only found it this morning, the warranty may be voided as I haven't had the bike serviced with an agent or had the book stamped,
The uprated version was more for future cover as I weigh 17st and the original shock/spring combo wasn't up to much.
James
ahh im sure your dealer won't be too much of a bitch to deal with my dealer said to me do what ever you want to the bike mod it tune it and we'll make sure we deal with the warranty pretty good dealer aswell.
but i do see your point now, when i was considering upgrading mine the mechanic at the dealership suggested contacting rear shock manufacturers for what was the best thing to do for weight and handling that sort of stuff and to try and get the best deal possible.
I'll give em a try tomorrow, even if they offer a replacement at least I'll have a sample I can take some measurements off, until the shock comes off, I don't even know if there are any manufacturers markings on it.
James
i doubt it'll be made from another manufacturer other than that pulses uses to produce the bike, olle is a good european brand really good damping especially on th bumpy stuff entially it seems really slodgy on standstill but it actually stiffens up when riding which does make the wooden plank of a seat on my bike unbearable when doing 70 miles in one day.
maybe you should try playing around with the the preload if they supply a new shock for you.
ofcourse the holy grail would be a ohlins rear shock but i dont want to think ab out how expensive that would be :/
Kennon
The standard shock has no adjustment, except for spring preload, depending on the length of the original, there are a few pit bike shocks with adjustment and remote reservoirs, low priced too,
Ohlins is money no object stuff, kind of just need a bit better shock for not much money lol!
I know what you mean about long rides, 119 miles is the longest, and the seat is not built for touring!
James
i would advise against a pitbike shock as there not designed for such a heavy bike or for long usage and predominantly offroad use even on the hardest settings will still feel soft on your bike.
really i found the seat on the pulse's and sinnis' really comfy and cushioning compared to my bike when i was looking at getting a125 supermoto
http://www.mychinamoto.com/forums/sh...hon-PRP-125-SM this is my bike
I see what you mean about your seat, not much to cushion there, I've never seen one of that make before, sounds like it's making a lot of power compared to most learner legal 125s available?
I wasn't sure about the pit bike shocks, as I didn't know what kind of weight they could handle.
aha its no longer learner legal had the air filter restrictor taken out at first service valves adjusted for better fuel intake, plus a illegal for road sue exhaust definitely not legal but having a full license means cops dont really take too much notice anymore plus runs better now at full power not being overly rich.
yh not mayn people have heard of Rieju even though theyve been in the uk since the 70's i only heard about them 2 years ago when i was 16. iv raced my frineds WR125X same engine apart from fuel injection and just cained him all the way even with shorter gearing just so nice being able to beat a bike thats ment to be built better and sells for so much more when i get better forks rear shock and more power and a lower cost to buy i love my bike especially the number plate having both my intials and my parents country of origin.
iv been contemplating a 180cc kit to get my bike up to the "200cc" spec bike but perhaps next year going to uni in oxford soon and they hate any form of transport with a engine so i'll just leave my bike to my dad to keep serviced until i return
i know superbyke are trying to get the 250 version of the sinnis apache suitable for uk use if they do the rear shock on that will be much better for heavier loads, i would generally look for a 250 shock if i was you making sure the dimensions are up to the job bearing in mind
Wow, a lot of work in there! I've been looking at the 150 kit for mine, not much in the way of torque for a rider of my build,
Do you think any of the 200cc versions of the sinnis/pulse/superbyke would carry a heavier duty shock than mine?
probably not as the bike was originally designed as china bike for chinese people and were not the heaviest people which was then fitted with the en125 head to meet learner requirements
a 200cc bore would be a good boost in torque and power a extra 75cc instead of 25cc's
superbyke is actually built for by sinnis which is the UK name for the proper manufacturer Qingqi, pulse used to get this deal until sinnis told em enough was enough with the same bike so pulse baught the rights to there slightly different plastics sm and went to another factory and said build this for us but cheaper
I see about the weight :-(
Didn't think the 200cc stuff would fit, maybe something to look out for.
May have to settle for a sinnis STD shock as they have pressure adjustment but the pulse ones don't?
its the same bottom end just look at a Qingqi liger QM 200 same bottom or even a DR200 same parts everything Qingqi actually make OEM parts for suzuki's engines
on the sinnis shock its the same design that pulse copied so jsut preload adjustment on it very rare to find allot of adustment on a chinese built bike
I knew some of the parts interchanged, so cylinder and piston would fit? Maybe different rod for longer stroke, probably carb too as I'm not confident in the mikunis ability!
The images of the pulse shock show a bare body, but the sinnis shock shows a fill nipple on the body, if the are the same the pulse one will have to do, unless one is a little better made than the other?
yep bigger cylinder, piston will fit straight ont he crank casing, change the carb for sure for the bigger cc's some portuguese guy did a 150cc swap on here before i joined quite a interesting thread will have to dig it up sometime.
your best bet for bore kit is here: http://www.chinesemotorcyclepartsonl...kes_RMR200.php
sinnis is better built as told by mt delaer who sells both telling me you can tell that just by the body work a sinnis will fit correctly 9 out of 10 bikes but pulse's normally require spacers and washers to be attached to body work that should be snug. adjustment nipples are normally on gas reservoirs only to adjust the rebound
A wealth of useful info, thanks for so much help and advice, I know it's not always easy to deal with noobs, especially noobs whose previous transport was 4 wheeled not 2!
I'm going to ring the dealer tomorrow and see what happens, I suppose STD working shock is better than STD broken shock eh?
I'll post up the result for sure as it will provide future reference for similar problems encountered by others in the future.
no problem mate just ask if you need any advice, will be good to ehar what happens with your bike.
spoke to the dealer today, no warranty replacement so i need to source a new shock,
thing is i need the dimensions of my original shock without having to remove it to get all the measurements.
or i need to find somewhere that will give me the specs if i ask nicely lol!
ohh that sucks mate,
iv seen just a new replacement one is £44
hmm that website link isent you there real helpful when i was looking at dimensions for parts you could try E-mailing them.
yes, the dealer quoted me £39 today, but wasnt very forthcoming with any specs, probably because he didnt have one in stock to look at,
im going to email pulse direct for specs and see what happens there,
just dont really want to pop a standard one back on if i can get away with it!
aha dont blame ya definitely a rear shock designed for a 250 would be much better and comfortable for you plus 250's being a somewhat niche market means ther high quality built parts with the sort of adjustment your looking for
oh yes, heavyweight is the way forwards!
ive mailed pulse/lexeter uk to enquire about dimensions, also an ebay seller who has one for sale to get some basic measurements.
ive recieved a speeding fine in the post (not while on the bike) so i now need to really concentrate on price!
ahh yh that a bummer, hopefully no points right? iv only just managed to keep my license clean since i got it
its gonna be fixed penalty route i think, £60 fine and 3 points
unless they offer me a speed awareness course, then ill do that instead so i dont get the points!
awareness course all the way mate more expensive than teh fine but then your insurance wont go up only reason i did some £250 safet driving course rubbish
Have to look at how much the insurance will go up in relation to the extra cost, but if it's offered I'll take it, unless it's £250, that's way too much! what was that for?
got rear ended in my car that got written off then the insurance deemed it 50:50, plus the previous owner of the car had fitted a tyre the wrong way round so got charged with driving without due care and attention so i cant get insurance on a car after having a accident just sucks but ahhwell atleast iv still got 2 clean vehicle licenses
