Am i the only one from Turkey ?...
I may be the only one from Turkey here in forum but millions of Chinese bikes in Turkey...
46 yrs old, have been riding big big cc Japanise curuisers and German BMWs for 26 yrs.
Own two forum sites;
www.bmwgstr.com
www.bmwboxer.2forum.biz
Because of personal financial problems and gas prices in Turkey (almost 3 usdollars / liter) sold the BMW and bought a second hand QM 200 GY...
I love it, i really love it.. Since i used to do all maintenance and minor repairs of all my bikes myself, after my BMW R1100GS, this bike is kid stuff.. 1 liter oil and a filter ewery 2000 kms, few touches and hit the road, consuming only around 2 liters gas ewery 100 kms... This should be heaven...
In Turkey they are called Ramzey or Pioneer QM 200 GY..
Here is mine on the mountains of West Turkey..
Planning a long trip for November this year..

Re: Am i the only one from Turkey ?...
Welcome!
Turkey is such a beautiful country, with lots of great riding and interesting places. Great food too. And the coffee is fantastic!
I completely agree with you about the migration from large to small bikes. Frankly, small bikes are a lot more fun! The fact that you can buy a brand new small cc bike for less than the price of a BMW rear drive is a huge bonus! And the gas mileage - I'm still wondering when I will have to fill up my 125cc. I'm thinking that maybe some time in November?
There is lots of info on this forum about the Qingqi 200 (and its various overseas permutations). It is an extremely popular bike.
Re: Am i the only one from Turkey ?...
merhaba,
I'll be in Istanbul for a couple of days end of April. I wanna get some bike gear, can you recommend a few good shops to check out? Where's the bike market ? A google maps link would be awesome. How about prices? Are the items tagged or does the price depend on the customer like in China? I'm sure it's cheaper than here in Beirut.

Re: Am i the only one from Turkey ?...
Dear Basri,
Damn, those look like great shops!
Slabo, after Kunming and Beirut, you're going to be on Cloud Nine in these shops. You probably should leave at least some of your savings someplace safe....
cheers!
Re: Am i the only one from Turkey ?...
By the way, Basri, I don't think you are the only MCM member in Turkey. Do you know this guy Dalyan? He posted a nice Black Sea tour ride report a while back, though it seems the images may no longer be hosted. That would be a shame, as they gave us all a nice alluring glimpse of Turkey....
Sorry, my bad! The pictures are fine, just need a veepeeyen to see them from inside China. F*ck you once again, thin-skinned grandma.
cheers!

True. So true. I've been on bikes for almost 4 years now, and only now I have a chance to get proper gear. What savings? I'm buying as much as I could carry back home, I'll worry about the savings later.. Seems prices are as good as US prices.

To work out with "Turkish Lira"
1 Usdollars = 1.76 TL , Than you should divide the Turkish Lira price by 1.76 for USdollars.
When you see "+KDV" means you should add apprx. 18% Value Addition Tax on top.
When you see "KDV Dahil" means price include VAT.
But i think Google can translate all these...
If you get official receipts for all purchases, you can claim 18% tax back at the airport when leaving Turkey..
Re: Am i the only one from Turkey ?...
What an amazing country. Looking down from the plane, it felt like the perfect place for a biker to get lost. Twisty narrow roads on beautiful green mountains.
I'm a bit disappointed by the food though, or maybe it's because we were in heavily tourist laden areas.
Bike stuff ::
First I checked out http://www.feyizoglu.com/ .. nice shop, only one it's neighborhood. Prices were decent but they only had Nolan and LS2 helmets. Nolan is top notch but out of my price range. They had the latest models but LS2 weren't comfortable due to my extra large ears. The shop also stocked Revit jackets.
Then I went to the other place you recommended, http://www.motomaxonlineshop.com/ they had the best of the best gear, but nothing was in my price range, and everything they had was overkill for my needs. But that neighborhood was loaded with shops selling all sorts of gear. I ended up getting my stuff from http://www.motoplus.com.tr/ . They have the widest selection and prices were good too. They stocked Hein-Gericke jackets and pants, Venom and Bell helmets and
I got this helmet, Venom VF-307 http://i.imgur.com/KF9Pu.jpg
It's ECE certified but I can't track the manufacturer. It's feels much better than my GIVI helmet though, and the fabric doesn't irritate my skin. Fits my egg head perfectly with enough room for my elephant ears. I'll post a proper review and more photos in the flipup helmet section if I can find the manufacturer's site.
In all the shops, the staff were friendly and helpful, unlike most shops in China where they only want to sell you something. One day I'll ride up there and get all the gear I need.
