Thanks Fred! Never get tired of MGS.
And there's something about fallen leaves + twisties that makes me very nostalgic....
Re: Day trip to Moganshan
Nice one Fred!
What you write on the tank in chinese?
Next time you come around Moganshan or Tonglu (anyway near Hangzhou) let me know, I may join in!

I didn't write anything, the guy at the Traffic Police station did it, before taking the "official" picture of the bike for the blue ownership book. I don't know what this stupid twat used, but I can't manage to wash it off, at least not with water...
As I don't want to scratch the paint I didn't go berserk on it yet, but everytime I see the tank I'm snapping his neck in my mind...
Re: Day trip to Moganshan
It's just a 雅马哈 light spray and not deep, which means it's easy to come off - but H2O won't be enough.
1) Get yourself some buffing compound and a terry cloth towel.
2) Add some H2O to the towel (just dampen it) and work some buffing compound onto the moist area. Gently rub the white paint off.
* Alternatively, you can go to any car wash in Shanghai and they can do if for you next time you get a bath. Just make sure they don't get overzealous and start removing your shiny red paint!

Toothpaste
Nice ride report. Thanks. The only time I went to MGS (a weekend) it was gridlocked towards the top.

Shanghai allegedly has rules saying that a bike's branding MUST be in Chinese to comply with state regulations. So they spray it on. Every bike gets this treatment. Then you wash it off. I think they even charged me 10 yuan to spray it on, and the guy with stencil told me it washes right off. You know, it's a valuable service to bring the bike into compliance with the great state so that people who see the bike won't think it's a horse or a chocolate eclair or a thong bikini, but an actual motorcycle.
Can't have people confused by foreign words, you know.

I see, Shanghaiers must be very sensitive and easily confused by foreign words... it's funny even most of Chinese brands don't have the branding in Chinese on the motorbikes....
Perhaps the stencil guy has very powerful friends! Who knows...

G'Day,
Did my own lettering the other day to get full bike rego down at the Hami Road vehicle management bureau. 3M foil, easy to peel off.
