Hello from Las Vegas (city of sin)
Hey there everyone. I'm Steven and I live in Vegas. I moved to NV from FL and am enjoying myself in the city of sin. I signed up on this site because I plan on buying a chinese sport bike in a few months. I am looking forward to getting my D250RTC around my birthday. I have a lot of plans for it and hope to get some good reponses to the work I do to it. I will post a pic of the bike and color I hope to get.

Hello Homebuilt, welcome to the MCM. :goodtime:
Sport bike? Welcome to the club! would you post your engine brand name and specs. Would like to see what your future beb is having under the tank! :mwink:
Re: Hello from Las Vegas (city of sin)
The moto is a Dongfang 250cc. It is marked to have 250cc with 18.77HP. I plan on dropping it, stretching it, put fender elimintater, flush mount signals, and maybe getting it jetted. I would like to get 22HP out of it if I can. I want it to compete with the ninja. That's my main goal, while showing people that you can mod a chinese bike too.
Re: Hello from Las Vegas (city of sin)
Thats nice a bike.
Is it DOHC and liquid cooled?
Is it 5 or 6 speed?
Re: Hello from Las Vegas (city of sin)
11kw @ 6500 rpm
229cc
That is what Dongfang Motor, Inc. submitted on their application to the EPA for that engine, that’s 14.96hp.
Unrestricted exhaust and increased jets can get you a 3% increase in hp.
http://www.epa.gov/otaq/cert/veh-cer...r-01-26-11.csv
ADGFC.278M3W-003
That engine does not have 18hp it likely does not even have the potential for 18hp.
Re: Hello from Las Vegas (city of sin)
given that these engines can happily rev to 10,000 rpm and the max power is stated at 6,500 rpm
if you increase the compression and inlet flow and change the cdi box for one with a more agressive curve
you can certainly get 18hp
Re: Hello from Las Vegas (city of sin)
It is a pushrod engine….good luck getting it to rev to 10,000, the point is always missed. How can they claim it is limited to 6500 rpm to the EPA and then sell it to the public directly contradicting the information they submitted to the EPA?
Re: Hello from Las Vegas (city of sin)
err because "they" are chinese?

Now that is what i really want to do when i get one:mwink:. If i get 26hp from stock, i can easily get 30hp by upgrading the compression and inlet flow and change the cdi box , right?:icon10:
Where do i get this CDI box for better performance? :riding:
Re: Hello from Las Vegas (city of sin)
the usual method is to find a box from a performance bike such as a crf 150
you can see what is is doing by using a strobe light
the standard box will retard off the timing to stop the engine from revving
Re: Hello from Las Vegas (city of sin)
Well, I myself am just quoting the website I plan to get it from. They mark it at 18.77hp. Now you guys can't really think that sometimes the company run lower #s to the EPA for different reasons? I have looked on several sites about this model and most sites have it around 16-18hp. The HP rating is really not overly important to me. I am buying this just for training how to ride and a promo ride when I launch my clothing company.
