Dirt Bike Track in Beijing
Dear friends,
As summer is approaching, I invested my hard earned cash in a JiaLing CQR250 and another health insurance. ;-)
So my question to all Beijingers - where is the right track? I have already been to the Goldenport Race Track, but the place is a bit too rocky for a thin-boned rider like me. I am looking for the sandy, soft soil with some (natural) kickers, hills, etc. Heard something about a place near 永定河, but that is a bit far from Beijing. What about the BMX track at LaoShan? Are dirt bikes allowed?
Many thanks for your help!
XF
Re: Dirt Bike Track in Beijing
Hi
Congrats with the bike.
Google Earth: 40 02 46 16 N - 116 45 19 18 E East of the airport - here is a huge dry river bed.
Really nice place to ride some sand - always some dirtbike riders/4x4 in the weekends.
Maybe a place for a "Sunday MCM meeting"..... camping possible.

Re: Dirt Bike Track in Beijing
hey guys, i'm moving to Beijing this summer for a 2yr work assignment. I have two boys that ride dirt bikes as well (65 and 85cc), is it easier for us to bring our bikes in our pod of stuff from the states, or just buy bikes locally? was wondering if i could find smaller bikes for my boys, or if most for sale locally in china were for adults. i appreciate any advice. thx!

Welcome to the forum.
You might want the start a new thread in the "Welcome to MCM" forum, and give a bit more detailed introduction to tell us exactly what you are looking for (in case replacement bikes are required). Furthermore people who might have more knowledge about this than me might miss your post in this thread. :mwink:
How old/tall are they? Depending on the bikes they are riding now, I'm not sure if you could easily find suitable spare parts for those. We have some really cheap mini dirt bikes over here, but they are of questionable quality I think. There should be something that fits them.

Re: Dirt Bike Track in Beijing
Dear friends,
just for your information, I found another track in the NW of Beijing.
Coordinates are:
40.048536 N, 116.133749 E
or
+40° 2' 54.73", +116° 8' 1.50"
There is a dirt track, a kart track and an RC car track (from South to North).
The park is called: 汇通诺尔狂飙运动乐园

The young guy in the tourist office bordering the kart track, where they also rent small quads, told me, that the track was getting repaired in two weeks. Currently you can ride there for free, as it is in a bad condition (probably due to heavy rains plus lack of maintenance). Once it is repaired they will ask 3,500 RMB for a or 100 RMB per day including basic insurance (We'll see of that ;-)).
He also told me about two other spots in Chaoyang District: one at 十八鲤 (yes, specifically this "鲤", not "里") and one at a place called "290km". I didn't find any of them, so if someone else knows anything, I would be happy to learn about it. Otherwise I will waste a lot of tyre rubber on my weekend excursion to the NW from now on.
Thanks for reading.

EDIT: I noticed, that the coordinates are not exact depending on what map (Baidu, Google) and view (Satellite, Map) you use. So check the picture below for reference.

Re: Dirt Bike Track in Beijing
Hi Xiaofei,
do you know if they offer some off road training as well?
Re: Dirt Bike Track in Beijing
Hi fahni,
Sorry, I didn't ask for that. But as they only had a few quads (the small kind) for rent, I guess they don't offer offroad training. But I will specifically ask next time I'm there. The guy did mention that they will have shows/demonstrations (表演) though.

Re: Dirt Bike Track in Beijing
Update:
- They are not offering any offroad training.
- You must wear protective gear, if you wish to ride on the track.
- The track will be repaired in 1-2 weeks (still), if they are sure that the rainy season is over.
- The phone number of the Tourist Office for inquiries ("Is the track repaired yet?") is 010-62455588.
- This is how they had the area planned:

The track on the left will probably not be built.

Re: Dirt Bike Track in Beijing
After a short holiday my friend and I had another weekend trip to 温泉区. The track is repaired! :) Well, at least there are no 40cm grooves anymore.
So on the second round I tried a little more gas and at the last jump I got a little more air than usual. It felt like 3m, but my friend claims it was around 50cm. :riding:
Anyways, while I was landing on the flat table there was a disturbing sound. Crrrumm! I rolled down the table, but I noticed the bike didn't feel right anymore. When I came to stop, I noticed that the seat was a little lower than usual. Ok, long story short, the suspension mounting at the swing arm broke off.
There are two theories now: either I am over-weight (maybe just a liiiiiittle bit: 180cm, 80kg) or the quality of the CQR parts is just bad. (I think it's the latter. ;-) )
So here are pictures:

Re: Dirt Bike Track in Beijing
Internet research for "CQR 平叉 断" revealed that I am not the first person to experience this problem. One Taobao-Seller told me that there have been swing arms from Zhejiang province, which tend to break. The ones from Chongqing wouldn't break. He also mentioned that the quality swing arms have this little mark:

But:
- my bike was bought from a seller in Chongqing
- Taobao sellers are not famous for their honesty
- I might be a little over-weight ;) (started eating salad again)
Anyways, I still have to repair my baby. Then see what happens next time. I still have the number of the 面包车-guy who brought my bike back to Chaoyang for 200 RMB...
Just wanted to share this experience and soften my pain.
Cheers, XF
Re: Dirt Bike Track in Beijing
Well, I'm finally settled in Beijing. We are excited to start riding. We plan to head to the mx track you mention above. We dont have bikes yet, but will take the RCs with us.
Re: Dirt Bike Track in Beijing
Welcome to Beijing!
I won't be at the track this weekend, but next Sunday I'll definitely be there. See you!
