Hello, I need some advice as to why I can't get my 250 cc Baja to start. The battery says 100% and 3 wks ago it started right up after sitting for sometime. I'm trying to sell it with only 44 miles on it. What the heck can it be?

Did you try with another battery? Do you hear any noise when pressing start?
Hi, No noise at all and I haven't got another battery yet either. Will be doing this next. I never mentioned that I did have to keep trying to start it so I wonder if I may hve burn out the starter or the modual or switch. I don't hear it turning over or anything at all. I hope it's a simple fix since I'm trying to sell it. I'm not the motor cyclist I thought I wanted to be . I would rather be a rider. Thanks for your response and I will keep you posted if this happens to be the battery. Have a good evening.
Dear newbygirl,
Not the motorcyclist you thought you wanted to be, and would rather be a rider? What's the story behind that? You mean you'd rather be a pillion? Or just want to ride without the hassles of wrenching? Tell us your story! Maybe we can persuade you to give it another shot!
cheers!
If the battery is low, you should at least hear the relay clicking. If the charged battery doesn't help, connections check is next, and finally the relay and starter motor.
Euphonius,
I scared myself on the back roads riding and didn't have the knowledge of the positive/negative steering. Nearly, did a big mistake in a turn and now I think I will have to say I'm a "Pillion" for what it's worth. There goes my riding days. Thanks for your response in fact I wish I could have taken to the bike better than I have. Cheers to you too!
Krasi,
I think your right about the relay and starter motor possibility. I 'm going fishing and will put much thought as to how I can get this accomplished. I have better luck fishing than trouble shooting.. lol I will get on it soon and keep you posted after I get fish in my raft. Thanks and have a great day !
Dear Newbygirl,
Well, everything has its time and place. There's no shame in feeling fear, or in changing one's mind. Motorcycling IS risky compared to many other things, and those of us who embrace those risks (at least those of us who survive) do so with our eyes wide open, and a dedication to improving our skills and the safety of ourselves and those around us. Even as a pillion, you'll need to assess certain risks, including the skills of your driver. I only recently carried a pillion for the first time, and it was a wonderful but also sobering experience in shared responsibility.
Thanks for sharing your story, and best of luck with whatever comes next!
cheers
Euphonius, Thanks for the words of wisdom . Have a great and safe time riding. Cheers to you !
I sold the bike today and he had no problem figuring it out as what the problem may be...my loss at 1000.00. Thanks for your advice and I will be deleting myself from the site, unless one of you can give me a reason to stay connected....lol Ride til your hearts content and be safe while you do it, Your loved ones will miss you! So what was the problem according to the buyer?
Krasi,
He really didn't say,but thought that the trickle charge on the battery when I disconnected it to store it was needed in order not to ruin the battery. Simple fix if that's all. Thanks for you help. Nice people on here, for sure! Have a great day!
