Whilst I agree with Santanas being a dickhead vehicle. My personal award goes to the mini bread shaped van.

These vans that only cost 30,000-40,000 new are driven by complete morons, with a small dick syndrome, they know their vehicle is almost completely worthless, but demand more than their share of the road space and actually drive more 500% aggressively than the average beemer driver, especially when going down the pavement in the wrong direction, you can hear the cheap high pitched horn trying to demand it's rights! :gun_bandana:

Hahaha... I drove one of those vans around for years. They need constant repair but pull like tractors through mud and bad roads and can be fixed anywhere in China for cheap.

I inherited the van from an Australian buddy of mine who used it to literally travel to every corner of China (including Everest base camp). These bread-loaf vans are the real work horses of China serving as commercial vehicles and taxis in even the most rural villages and countrysides. They're great vehicles if you want to drive a car and travel china.

They have 800 to 1000cc engine and can't go more than 100k/hr on flat out open highway and are often so overloaded it would take a long time to even get to that speed. Aside from poor maintenance, I've never had a single problem with the micro-bus drivers so maybe you've got a regional issue there?

How strange. Here in Spain Drivers of the equivalent VW car, the Passat, also drive like idiots. They seem an arrogant lot. They seem to be people who can't afford a BMW or an AUDI but want German build quality and status.

Never mind Mercedes drivers...they're even worse. As someone once remarked:
Mercedes cars, Arrogance without aristocracy, efficiency without soul.

Where I am am it's every peasant farmer big-wig wannabe's first car, after they have shelled out their 40,000RMB if new or as little as 5000RMB second hand they fully expect to be starting their second family with their new tai tai as they expect oh-so much face for owning a 'car'. :eek2:

Santanas here are driven by complete morons, yes, but as nearly 40% of all cars are Santanas here including fleets of taxis it seems a little over the top to hate everyone.

I also have a dislike for the big black Buick a-holes.

I hate the fact that so many things in China are a piece of shit. Using the worlds dwindling precious resources to make outdated crap with poor emissions driven my people with sub-standard training.

I'd have to place a vote for my wife as one of the crappiest drivers in China (Although, now she's a U.S. menace!).

I'll never forget my first day in China a few years ago. I thought that I was going to die within the first hour. The drive from Baiyun airport outside of GuangZhou to our home in PanYu included all of the following highlights:

* Stopping, three-point-turn (More or less), and traveling the wrong way down an exit ramp to return back to the highway.

* Stopping dead in the left-hand lane of a three-lane "interstate-style" divided highway.

* U-turns across the median of a busy divided highway.

* Stopping, backing-up 100m on a divided highway in order to review the exit/direction sign that was passed too quickly.

How's that for an introduction to China's drivers? My wife managed to have half a dozen fender-benders with her poor Buick Excelle in the first year of car ownership. Luckily, they were all in the traffic choked streets of GuangZhou where no one has much chance to go over 30 or 40 mph. Doubly-lucky was the fact that her company paid her insurance as she used her car for work.

Amazingly, since she's been driving here in the U.S. she hasn't had a single incident. I chalk that up to the fact that she had to sink-or-swim to drive here. We live at 9,200 ft. and she has to drive a 24 mile tortuous canyon road to arrive in the nearest town. Of course, if I hadn't installed GPS in her car, I would never have seen her again after her first solo drive into town. She has the worst sense of direction of any person I've ever met.

No, you got it all wrong. After years of scientific study I can tell you Jetta drivers are the absolute worst, and in particular silver colored Jetta drivers are the worst of the worst. Watch out.

This is weird, it must be purely regional, watch out for silver Jettas and Xialis in Beijing, bread-shaped vans in Shandong and black Santanas in Sichuan, and Passats in Spain.

So far I can say all of the drivers (of vehicles introduced) are equally insane.
The collection so far is really representative (just my 2 cents).

One exception I have to mention. Drivers of black Santana's aren't too bad - I had one myself before it vanished in a on board fire caused by a cable failure :lol8::lol8::lol8:

I remember driving one time with my wife and it had me hitting the imaginary brake pedal on the passenger side floorboard. I love her so much, but man that was scary. We're signed on for motorcycle training classes in May! :eekers:

Fact is that even in Europe studies are made to find out which models, brands or colors of vehicle are driven by the most aggressive, slowest or most careful drivers.

Road traffic gives people (the drivers) the opportunity to live the little freedom they may have. Some show their state of wealth, while a motor vehicle is just means of transportation to others. All together they are lucky with the bad law enforcement.

Evaluation of road traffic provides a good overview of the state and maturity of a society, I believe.

The bread vans are the worst, like little rolling roadblocks........I can pass them on the Chang.
Colour, make or type of vehicle it doesn't really matter the level of driving here is piss poor. My wife just passed her test........they didn't teach her to drive, just pass the test.

China has the highest numbers of fatalities for miles traveled. Many Chinese will say that US has a higher accident rate, however, the accident rate for miles travelled is 20 x greater in China than the US.

I read a book about the driving habits of the world. Apparently the world's worst drivers come out of countries with the world's highest corruption. Belgium drivers are twice as bad a dutch drivers. The only difference? Corruption is twice as bad in Belgium.

That means driving in China is just going to get worse.
