S&T Motors aka Hyosung out of Korea is partnering with an Indian company by the name of DSK MotoWheels They will be building into the market in phases. Initially offering domestically made 125-150cc models priced under $800.00 USD and eventually offering their current 250cc imported offerings as domestically made at around $2,600.00 USD currently the 250cc imports retail in India for around $4,400.00.


It all sounds great, however what is less then inspiring is the new 250 single they are promoting….it is very different some might even say just fugly.

S&T Motor's New Model Takes 1st Place
EXIV 250N, 2013 KKRRC Champions

S&T Motors has recently developed a new 250cc naked motorcycle, the EXIV 250N (model name: GD250N). On Sunday, November 10^th, the 2013 KKRRC (Korea Road Race Championship) was held at Yeongam F1 National Stadium. The new EXIV 250N piloted by Garage41 rider, Mr. Jeong took first place in the ST250 class. He navigated through the race beautifully all the way to a huge victory by a margin of 19 seconds.

KKRRC (Korea Road Race Championship) is the nation's only large displacement motorcycle race in the 250cc class, and this is the first time for a Korean domestic model to win in this class.

The EXIV 250N was recently unveiled at the 2013 EICMA show held in Milan, Italy from November 5^th to 10^th. The EXIV 250N was well received by European motorcycle riders at the show and will be available soon in the overseas markets, with the US and Canada to follow in 2014.

The EXIV 250N is a naked class bike with a proprietary S&T Motors 250cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder DOHC engine.

I can see that Garage 41 removed the centralized exhaust, the bike is for racing and it likely lost the catalytic element within their race version and its exhaust system?

I am not sure what plan they have for a plant in India, but this is actually the bike to manufacturer their IMO.
It certainly cannot be manufactured their today since the factory in India is not likely built yet? Just not enough time to do that, they have in the meantime been setting up dealer networks throughout India.

BSM: What about exports? Are you looking towards catering to the international markets with your upcoming plant? SK: Yes, we are very much interested in catering to the export market. In fact, we had talks with Hyosung with regard to manufacturing engines here in India for overseas markets and they have given us a positive reply. With regard to complete motorcycles, we might do this, but we will only manufacturer certain models. After all, Hyosung also has their Korean plant to manufacture out of. I cannot tell you when any of this will happen, but it is on the cards.

In an alternative world, this bike could be coming online out of production in China through Yinxiang, that could be possible at some juncture? One that should be or could be approaching?

Yinxiang is an OEM for Hyosung and very likely for its 125cc engines, I believe? They may manufacture their dual sport?

Here is an Image of a Comet 250 branded Yinxiang….so the connection to Chinese manufacturing exists, but does not seem to have evolved. That venture may have been ill timed?

A lot of development in this GD250N. The engine appears to a stressed member of the frame.

It should be the fastest 250.

I also like the adjustable foot-pegs/rear-sets.

It will be available soon in iran and it impressed me a lot ,after many years of experience in building air/oil cooled single and V twin engines with suzuki technology what should we expect from a new born LC engine in corporation with an indian company since they are pretty successful working with KTM (duke 125.200.390) kawasaki(ninja 250.650) and also new pulsar 200NS all by bajaj.

Hyosung has a terrible dealer network in the USA.

They do not exist? Or are what you could call 2nd or even 3rd tier.


Bigger is not always better, however if a dealer has a large operation they do have a reputation to defend and in that they try to stand behind what they sell. If they are struggling for their existence they may not care about your issue or they may simply leave the market as in the close up.


Manufacturers do not sell to consumers they sell to dealers, if the dealers will not buy them you should wonder why.


If the first tier refuses them, then they go to lesser and in that they make bad partners in some cases. The result is a terrible dealer network.

Access to the consumer with full set of benefits, that being service and support. That is what distribution is, it is not about selling factory direct, that will always fall short as support does not truly exist. Neither does warranty as that has to be backed with an actual identifiable local physical entity. That being a local dealer that is obligated to resolve any warranty claim, under the local laws of which they operate within.

Hyosung does have a dealer network, unfortunately it is not strong in the USA, it is weak. A dealer network that is strong has real actual outlet committed and supported by the factory.

Racer uses Yinxiang as an OEM, their RC250LV is based off a Hyosung GV250 engine and that seems to be a modified GV650's frame.

The 650's be it sport or cruiser are a completely different frame to the 250'125's.
The rumour is that Hyosung are going to make a new 250 Liquid cooled V-twin or even 300cc to compete better in the market, the GD250 is a good development so hopefully Hyosung can start to compete better in the small capacity category.

They shortened the GV650 Aquila’s frame, they bent it the downward slope is more drastic on the RC250LV, which basically shortened it.
