Hi all , just a short gidday from me ,
I have had my CFMoto 650nk 3 months now having got it new and have just clocked 6000km and had the 2nd service done yesterday , its a great bike and my first brand new one ever , a revelation ! these are , I love mine .
Talk soon , my darling is due home soon and we will go for a ride together , she rides a nice VTR250 Honda .

Hi all , a few photos of my newly installed 'Scorpion' muffler I fitted yesterday , sounds nice , deep and tune full and gone is the horrible snatching I had while riding around town , I like this a lot.

FWIW in the photos the Scorpio muffler looks like it's rotated too far as I suspect the muffler is oval in shape? If so then the oval is best rotated so that the bulk of the shape is (horizontal) longitudinally in line with the ground. The outlet should be facing outward - away from the bike. In the photo the oval looks like it's sitting vertically and the outlet is facing more upwards than outwards. If any of that gibberish makes sense.Quote:

Thanks for the advise , but I tried every way of movement on the short , about 15 degree transition pipe and this is the maximum rotation either way . eg. rotated one way the muffler fowls the rear tire and the other way it hits the swing arm , I am more than happy with it and after a 200km ride yesterday it makes the engine sing and as I said that horrible 'snatcheness' has completely gone at 2500-3500 rpm around town , just nice and smooth pulling away in 2nd-3rd from 2000rpm now , nice .
Also the sound on de-throttle is very nice with no back fireing on de acceleration so the seals and fueling is spot on , sexy muffler that suites the bike well .
Oh yes this is the kit for the Kawasaki ER6 and it fitted perfect .

^Seeing as you're unable to rotate the muffler without it hitting either the swingarm or tyre, then I'm thinking that Kennon might have a very vali8d point - that the muffler is too long. I've two after-market mufflers, one a no-name cheapo brand and the other a IXIL hexagonal design, both mufflers I've fitted to my TR (TK). The cheapo muffler first before the IXIL. Both mufflers were designed for the Kwaka 650.
It's not easy to tell for certain based on the photos, but I'm pretty sure the mufflers I have aren't as long. I'll go measure both mufflers later on today and post up the measurements.
Both mufflers clear the swingarm and tyre.

No name muffler fitted. Note that the outlet is pretty much right beside the RHS edge of the rear tyre.

No name muffler, fitted with horizontal profile, meaning outlet directed outwards away from the bike.
Quick question Brian, did you make sure that the muffler was slid as far up the distal end of the header pipe as it could go? I ask because this was something that I found was not easy to achieve on both mufflers when I installed them at the time.
If the muffler is not forced as far as it can onto the pipe this would explain why it looks to be either longer than the usual aftermarket mufflers on all NK/TK's I've seen, or otherwise is sitting too far back.
If you fitted this muffler yourself, I think it's worth checking that the muffler has travelled as far as is possible into the pipe. I used a lubricant, a clean rag, small length of wood, rubber mallet. I applied lubricant to both the distal end of the header pipe and the muffler insert end. I used a lot of argy-bargy to manipulate the muffler onto the pipe. At times I used the rags and wood to absorb and soften blows from the rubber mallet to the end of the muffler.
The fit is very tight Brian and it might seem that the muffler is on the pipe, however when I thought I'd got the muffler on, I found that not to be the case for me. Oh, and I used a lot of tongue movements too.
Hi Bikerdoc , I just measured my muffler and transition pipe , they are ,
Muffler , Scorpion 'Red Power' style and its 400mm from end of pipe to tip ,
Transition pipe , 110mm total length from header stop to muffler fit .
I also had a good look at the instructions and the photos show the muffler oriented in about the same position as mine .
Its raining here today so I am going to take the screw holding the rear baffle in and remove it and see what it sounds like ,,, stay tuned .
Have I said it looks cool and sounds excellent .
edit , all pipes are fully home on install , with ample tongue movements on my part as well , good point tho .

ps. your bike looks sweet , I have only see one TR in the flesh here in OZ but it was a fleeting look at a service station , impressive tourer .
Well , I took the bike for a blast to work today without the rear baffle fitted and man I must be getting old , sounds very good , more back firing on de-acceleration but I found it a little loud for day to day riding and put it back tonight , I will remove it when a blast is happening with other riders for sure , but the noise was a bit much , nice deep noise tho ....
