Shineray X1 - mixed CG engine to bike?!
Ok I'm a bit confused but here goes
Bike is a Shineray X1 with rounded CDI one bolt coil original regulator. Was original CG150cc
Engine - now here's the strange bit, I think 125cc CG but runs like shit
So if the stator is from the square CDI system this could be an issue? Timing and or other mixing of AC or DC system?
This I don't know if both systems are the same as far as the stators goes.
What's what square and round CDI plugs?
Is each stator and pick up and flywheels the same? Or are they different?
I need to be sure I have the correct stator flywheel and pick up sensor to suit the bike before I can look at other things.
Also now I upgraded to a PZ27 carb and new upgraded air box too.
I got the bike free with issues
I got it running etc and working thru what I know was wrong.
So are there variations to stators pick up and flywheel affecting timing and or ignition? If yes what type do I need for the X1? If no then I can eliminate this as an issue.
I think it's a 125 so my carb is too big and will run like crap, best change the barrel to 200cc tune carb and ignition should all match?
Your knowledge greatly appreciated

Heh, those fast moving electrons are not my cup of tea... Not at all...
You know, there is cute video which explains what are the differences between AC and DC ignition systems - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFBDNkdc45g.
As you can see, there are differences in CDI units, and from where they get juice.
Stator can be different, in sense, on one type on ignition, he must to pump juice for both ignition system and all the rest electrical systems (some coils do one job, other - another), and on the other, all the juice goes to the battery via rectifier. But all they make AC current, to be clear about that.
All the rest parts (pick-ups, rotors, rectifiers...) are probably the same.
If you are not sure which sort of CDI you have, you can "follow the yellow brick road" and see where those wires on the CDI leads.
Or do simple test - if your engine can run without battery, than you have AC system.
And those round and square CDI systems you mentioned - I don't know what is that.
Re: Shineray X1 - mixed CG engine to bike?!
The fact that you do not know the engine makes it’s allot harder. It may be the problem as the CDI for each engine is obviously not the same. They may have dropped a new engine in and without any regard and it may never have ran.
If you had an engine code that might help…but not always.
Unless the drop in is identical, all the rest should have been replaced.

Translate the following in http://www.microsofttranslator.com
CG = 20mm http://www.motorfans.com.cn/bbs/view...uthorid=217223 & ~ 20deg http://www.motorfans.com.cn/bbs/view...=217223&page=2
CB's deg is little bit different (curve & angle is close enough in daily use, so guys said they're interchangeable)

Re: Shineray X1 - mixed CG engine to bike?!
OK, "Humabeing" explained some things.
If we talk about the thing which, using Hall effect, gives the signal when to "shoot" spark - IMO, those should be the same, regardless of CDI type.
But what is wrong with your bike? You suspect that some rascals do overnight something to your bike's electrical system?

Current engine and the rest is shineray X1
Is there any difference in stator flywheel pick up that relates to CDI? That's the main question now
As for engine cc and carb I'll tackle that later
Its a Zongshen pushrod 150cc,
it uses these types of CDI

Re: Shineray X1 - mixed CG engine to bike?!
The engine you have now is a Zongshen CG150 and it should use the common square six pin CDI. The Shineray XY150GY would have had that type CDI. If you tested everything else and working correctly you will need a CDI of this common type and it may need to be replaced.

No, Hall effect is different on Earth's southern hemisphere comparing to Hall effect on northern hemisphere, so maybe your bike is fitted with northern hemisphere pick-up. :lol8:
One more detail that crossed my mind... Pick-up must to be some 0,3-0,5 mm (check correct value in some manual) from this... lump on a rotor.

pink/yellow *** We don't care it (read the image above = to Reg/rec )***
Blue / white <-> green = pickup | seems OK but what's the voltage ?
What's the reading of AC-source[black/red] (ohm/ volt)?

Re: Shineray X1 - mixed CG engine to bike?!
That would go to the Rectifier/regulator to the battery in a DC set up. It only goes to the CDI for AC. The pic I linked to is for an AC type.
If you only have one wire connected to the two prong on the CDI it is a DC type.
Re: Shineray X1 - mixed CG engine to bike?!
No actually, that makes me think it is bad, you should check for continuity between phases and get nothing to ground.
