KINLON RT 200 User Manual

http://www.kinlon.com.au/rt.php:icon10: Hi i just got my riding L's and bought a new Kinlon RT 200, the bike is second hand but brand new at only 2 km's as the owner never rode it, unfortunately it does not have a user manual which would have been very helpful, i could not find a pdf version on the net . if anyone has a hard copy and has a bit of spare time and a scanner pls send me a copy, would be very appreciated, thanks in advance. and of course i'm a new rider havent got on the beast yet, waiting to get a helmet, and any tips on breaking the bike in would be thought out, it only has 2 km's on it, also would like to lower the bike cos my feet just touch the ground, how can this be done?

As for lowering its seat height there are various ways, none too easy except for dropping the forks through the yokes 15-20mm. This sometimes quickens the steering and may not be to everyones's liking. Has to be tried out. It should be accompanied by fitting a shorter rear shock, but you have to be carefull here. If the shock is just mounted between chasis and swing arm, directly, then if you fit a 15 mm or whatever shorter shock will result in a proportional reduction in overall height. However if there's some sort of linkage there, then you'll find that a 20 mm reduction in height will only require a 10 mm shorter shock and so on. Depends on the leverage ratio of the linkage.

Another way is to have the seat reduced by an upholsterer and recovered, normally using the same vinyl cover it came with. This has the disadvantage of some discomfort in longer rides.

In the mean time I would drop the rear spring pre-load to the minimum so that when you sit on it the rear suspension dips a bit and do the fork yoke mod mentioned earlier.

As I feel like a quick moan this morning, I would request new posters to fill in their location on their profile page. This will then show up to the left of their messages and enable us to reply using the correct measurement units, (km or Miles), money (£, $, etc), etc and knowing where they're makes it easier to recommend suppliers, dealers, etc. There's no point in telling you there's a great dealer in Middlesex UK when you are posting from Papua New Guinea...Doesn't take very long to do and helps to know where you are.

the klingon is a nice bike. The plastics are a bit crap and be very wary of loose nuts and bolts, but otherwise I am happy with it. It does the job and was a bargain. How much did you pay for an as-new one?

I have the manual but I don't have access to a scanner. Any ideas?

i bought mine from ebay, enden up paying $1925, though i had to drive from sydney to brisbane to pic it up and that cost me about three hundred on fuel, but i never been there before so i treated it as a holiday spent two nigths on the way to get there and one on the way back, so it was like a holoiday trip as well, and i enjoyed it, as for the manual if u let me borrow it i can return it to u as soon as i copy it, thanks, just got myself a couple of helmets today from bike biz at parramatta, i also think that the forks are too soft but i'm not game enough to change the oil in them,maybe when i have a bit more mechanical experience i will attempt it by way of your instructions, i will get it road regd.this week, i dont intend riding in dirt, so when i start riding it i will report more on it.

that is a good price, especially if it is in mint condition like you say. :thumbsup:

ok mate, I will bring the catalogue into work here and photocopy it and then give you the copies. Do you have access to a scanner? It would be good if you could get it into an electronic format so that anybody else that comes along can have access to it.

Hmmm... I might even be able to convince one of the assistants to do it for me :mwink: I'll get back on that one...

With changing the forks, it is pretty easy to do it the way I did. I have no mechanical experience just a desire to give it a go. It isn't like cracking the crank case and fiddling around in there... :confused1:

ok. got the rego yesterday, and now free to go anywhere (weather permitting) and to kingmarty thanks for the manual in advance looking forward to to it. and desperately need it, i do have a scanner, if u can send me the manual i can put it on this forum so anyone can read it.
took her for a spin today, got up to about 70kph, but dont want to push it cos its only done 20kms so far, i think to do >100ks u would need to throttle quite a bit, with the usage record of chinese merchandise and the price i paid for it, i think its the closest thing to having a brand new disposable bike. but if i plan to continue riding, i think i will definitely upgrade to a bigger and reputable engine, heres my trophy pic with me on it.

choke position

:confused1: as i dont have a user manual yet! i need to know what position the choke is on in this picture. it starts and runs ok when the lever is in the opposite side hot or cold but when its like in the picture shown, the engine sputters out (stops running), does this mean that this is where it should be to run hot and that i need to adjust the idle screw, or what?, any help would be greatly appreciated.

That looks like the "ON" position. The cable is taught, which means it's operating the choke mechanism. Turn the handle towards the cable to release the choke. A little slack must appear in the cable. Feel this by trying to move the cable's outer jacket in and out of its abuttment when you should feel a little slack.

I agree with forchetto. My jetski had a choke on the same side and the same location. Thumb to the left for choke, ease it to the right as it warms up. Off is all the way right.

i was under the same assumption too, but the position of the choke symbol confused me, the way to be real sure would be to look in the carby,. i filled the tank and reset the odo, after i fill up again i will see if i got good mileage and i will post it here.:scooter:

sorry I haven't got back sooner but I keep forgetting to bring the manual to work :riding:

The problem I think we have is our bikes are similar in name only. My choke is next to the carb, I have different handlebars, all my switches are different, I have a different headlamp, I have USD front forks...

Mine is red though :thumbsup:

I am pretty busy at work at the moment, but I will get around to .pdf'ing that doc.

Kinlon Rt 200

i seem to be getting about 23+km per litre of vortex, and i have noticed that although i have an ngk spark plug as king marty advised, it seems to lose power at high speeds which is noticeble as an intermittent slowing down (as if u change to a lower gear) at speeds over 80kmph. i have done over 400k's and sped at over 90k's ph. my son seems to think that its not the spark plug misfiring but it is a timing problem. eg. some new model cars have whats called a VVT or variable valve timing which is supposed to auto adjust the valve timing depending on the engine revs. and which this motor does not have. was he right,? a remedy might be is to change the rear wheel sprocket as the bike seems to be under geared:chinese::dirtbike:
as i still have no user manual for this bike my guess is the first oil change would be 1000km am i right?

If it's grossly undergeared the engine will be revving at maximum revs when you notice the slowing down. It means the rev-limiter is cutting in. What revs are you doing when you notice this?.

All bikes that I know of have fixed valve timing and 90% of the cars on the road. VVT is found in relatively few vehicles, some Alphas, Hondas, Mazda MX-5's and a few more.
The ignition timing on bikes is either fixed or electronically advanced and retarded by a control unit. I doubt this is your trouble.

1000km is about the right time to do the first oil change. Do the filter as well as any dirt or metallic particles from the assembly and running-in process will be trapped there.

it does not have a rev meter but assuming that i pushed it close to its limit to get it past 80+kmph that maybe so. if thats the case i will try revving an a lower gear to see if a similar thing happens, and if it does alternatively i will need to change the rear cog to get more smooth speed . will update post when i try lower gear.:thumbsup:

here's how i run my engine in:

ride the bike really hard, accelerate hard and roll off the throttle often, but change oil really often.
i changed my oil after the first 30k, then 150k, 500, and 1000. everytime i changed it i could see particles from the engine breaking in and honestly, i wouldn't want them in there for a whole 1000k grinding around inside my shiny new engine!

breaking it in like that it creates a good seal between the cylinder wall and the piston rings, mine doesn't burn any oil. plus it saves you the traumatic boredom of doing 1000km at e-bike speeds!

this is how race bikes are broken in, i trust this method.

:thumbsup: thanks to king marty for the user manual. although its typical of the chinese :chinese: english. but i still learned a few things from it. and as for the engine cutting out at high speeds, i have tested it by going at high revs on third gear and u guessed it it cuts out intermittently as it did on full speed, so it appears that forchetto was right in saying that there may be a high rev cut out switch, the only way i can think of around that is to change the rear wheel cog to a smaller one. but i'm not ready to do that . Yet. and i suppose i better change that oil pretty soon..

No worries Memosyd. Unfortunately, it isn't the most useful document going around. Especially when you compare it to the Honda CB250 Manual I have at home which is massive.

The english in the Manual is pretty funny. One of my favourites is in the "Safe Drive" section - "grasp the left handlebar by the left hand" - I knew I was doing something wrong! :taz:

Also, "full preoccupation is required during drive" - being preoccupied is not the best way to be riding, try full concentration instead! :asshat:

Hi forchetto, that is the ON position. I have the same bike in china.

But you need the choke only in VERY cold days. Or just few seconds when you start the bike.

Re: manual, i have mine in chinese but i can try to tell if you have any specific question. You can also try to fin in the internet the JL200, is not the same bike but the manual is very similar.

KINLON RT 200

:thumbsup: :clap: i got my riders licence last tuesday, which means i went from novice to licence, from the 28th april to a licensed rider in just six weeks on june 9th, 2 out of six didnt pass the MOST test, i think i could have got it earlier but the test was all booked out, i had never ridden before.
anyway i will be changing my oil when i find out how to, i still dont know where the oil filter is any ideas,tips, i tnink i will ask the boys down the street for help, they've been riding for a long time.

Kinlon RT 200

the carby...... replace it with a decent race type... its the easiest power mod u can do aswell gasman bikes should help u out...they are in sydney look on the net:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

yeah not much info on there about carbs they are slinging... the only parts in there for sale is $90 NOS kit for a pit bike...

there is a manual on page 2 of this thread, and as i remember the oil filter is inside the shiny looking cover, it has a bolt like protrusion on it

Yeah, I have looked at it, as well as the parts manual etc. I'm looking at a 2013 model. Also, is the oil filter just a mesh that you clean and not the replaceable type?
