What was going on here? It looks like a bunch of kids meeting up for a race.
There are legit "crackdowns" on people riding without plates and licenses each year in Shanghai right around this time.
I don't think its shanghai the streets name don't match. But quite a coordinated crackdown. Pretty impressive really. Don't the background just had a friend forward to me.
yeah there's been numerous crackdowns in Beijing. I've seen probably triple the amount of cops roaming around, and I've whizzed by several bikers that were pulled over in the city. By the time you get halfway out of the city, (3rd ring road ish) the cops stop caring.
Some Chengdu white folk that feel no license was needed got arrested questions jailed and some deported

Right way to enforce law! In my home country no one would have the idea riding without license or plate. So, why here?

Just got back from a 7000km trip up north.
On 2 times out of the 10 times I was stopped and checked, DL and bike documents was asked for and inspected.
I am sure if I had not been fully legal then I am sure the shit would of hit the fan.
I just sit on my bike and smile waiting for them to realise today is not there day to nick some western guy on a motorbike.
Lol.
Agreed I've been pushing for legal, I offer license help in Chengdu no matter if you got one back home or not
I've only got 3 applicants total for full process from nothing and I'm the first in Chengdu that had managed to be able to get legal licenses from nothing
Nearly no takers and my fee al in that included govt fees translator my 60+ hours to get to this point is 3300¥ I make 1400¥ for all my investment the rest goes to other parties involved

IMO a reasonable price. In Germany it is muuuuuch more expensive. Besides u could take that Chinese license and just convert it to German one ☺

wow that's nothing. corerup gov offacial charge that even to the locals.
If one has no bike license from home country there is also thr Option to go to Korea for few days, do a korean international bike DL there and use it as base to get a bike DL in China.
This is proofen as one of my riding mates did exactly this just few months ago.
There is an English speaking korean agent and also the relevant materials and exam are in English.
I have the wechat contact of the agent. PM me if needed

Many option available to people.
But the must is sort it out?
Have noticed over the last year more police are checking to make sure you are fully legal.
Just last night just before the 5th ring road coming into Bejing on the G4.
BIG police check point , with no way around it.
3 police jumped on me very quickly.
After there realized that this western guy was fully legal all big smiles happy day, pass on and ride safe. Lol
So be warned people, it's not the time to think about hay no problem I just won't stop or turn round ?
Them days are gone.
Luckey for me and most riders on here we don't worrie about situation like this.
It's time for that foreign bubble to burst, but too many white trash in China and they either learn the hard way or get lucky
