Both of these bikes are sold under the Derbi brand in Europe but since the Spanish Derbi factory closed they're made in the same factory as the RS4 125 which is based off the Derbi GPR 125 4T, I wonder if they're fitted with the fuel injection as fitted on the Aprilia models or the carb of the Derbi models
I think that I read they have carburetors, I am wondering if these are being manufactured in china considering the prices.
Derbi dropped them from their line, they only have 50cc models listed.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Derbi brand gets mothballed it's no longer used as a name in racing the Spanish heritage is gone, Gilera aren't what they used to be again not used for racing only scooters available in Europe and Chinese re branded as Gilera in South America. If these were produced in China would bring the costs down so could help out Piaggio in building cheaper bikes to sell as long as the quality stays what it is from the Italian factory

Piaggio has been focusing investing into developing their Moto Guzzi and Aprilia brands. My thought is that the 125 DOHC could be put in the Meggelli frames for the EU. Since they are already in production at Zongshen they could be re branded and sold with other 125cc, like the GPR and STX. That would offer a line of entry level bikes with low price tags to compete in that section of the market, the 250cc version would bridge up to the larger displacement bikes. I am suggesting that they could be branded as either Derbi, Gilera or Aprillia. It probably be best to offer them under a name outside of Aprillia and to offer them to the existing Piaggio dealer networks.
However as to whether Zongshen has reached parity in quality with the rest of the industry is questionable, the material used and build quality as well after market support, is still suspect.
Piaggio should look close at Gilera in Argentina, and in that consider getting these models into that market and sourcing out of Chinese production. In that Gilera could be the brand name of choice for entry level Italian designs for entry level street bikes, 125cc-250cc. Gilera is currently offering sub-par Chinese models in Argentina and compete with Zannella and Motomel. They could shift to these and in that set a process in place to manage and distribute out of Foshan very nice entry level models globally, they could follow Piaggio brands into existing dealer networks.
