I thought people could post here about various motorcycle shows or movies they've watched and what they thought...
Firstly, if anyone's seen The Long Way Down, with Ewan McGreggor and Charlie Boorman, you may have noticed they met up with some guys on the side of the road with 3 or 4 Lifan GY5's?
Those shows are pretty good, Long Way Down, and Long Way Round... Race to Dakar I didn't find as interesting but I never finished it, though I'm not really interested in the race or rally type stuff...
Torque, is a movie about sportbikers, it really isn't very good, but it has a few cool parts in it, and a lot of stupid and fake stunts. It's a good thing it has bikes and girls in it, otherwise it would be a complete waste of time and money.
Wild Hogs is about a group of friends who ride harleys on a road trip, and it is pretty funny. John Travolta is the best.
The Worlds Fastest Indian is a pretty cool movie, worth watching...
Oh and, there is The Return, it's this dvd about some whacko's trip across China on a 150cc bike named Big Wheels.:biggrin:

The Worlds Fastest Indian is really good.:clap::clap: I'm a bit of a maverick so I'm always a fan of the Burt Munros of the world. It was also good to see a non-American as the central character (no offence intended to my US friends).
Although Wild Hogs kept me entertained on a long flight I would have enjoyed the movie more if there had been a stronger focus on the bikes rather than the humans. Having said that I'm not a huge fan of Harleys. Maybe I need to ride one.

I'm not in the US so I guess that is why I missed it:P Actually, I think it was before my time, I've heard of it, but have no idea what it was, this is the first I've heard about it having to do with motorcycles...

The ones I keep watching....
The Return - A great DVD by Crazy Carl
The Worlds Fastest Indian - Not just for motorcycle fans, a very well made film.
On Any Sunday - An absolute classic, complete with 70's music and lots of sideburns. Probably one of the most important motorcycle movies ever made.
One Man's Dream The Britten Bike Story - An amazing story about an inventor from New Zealand that turned the motorcycle upside down by creating his own idea of what a motorcycle should be. A must see!
The long way round & long way down are both enjoyable, lot's of great ideas if you had endless money and resources to plan your adventure rides.
Cheers!

This is not a movie or show and it doesn't even have a motorcycle in it but the main character used to ride and I think is good to listen to for motorcycling tips or if you're in the Mood.
It's long. Let it load.

The Long Way Around got a lot of flack for featuring a mega-millionaire celebrity on heroin (ok, the heroin addict was just a part in the movie "Trainspotting" but he was a little too convincing) on the Horizonsunlimited.com site. Most of the people were just jealous that he made the series with a bunch of back-up vehicles, and all, when they (some, anyway) were doing round the world rides without backup or backing.
Either way, I never saw it.
The Return looks promising, and has great reviews, but have not seen it. I have seen bits of it on Youtube, though---and JUST ORDERED A COPY (hint, hint, hint everyone)
On Any Sunday I saw as a double feature in the mid-80's with the movie "Good Guys Wear Black" a Chuck Norris movie. My sister took me, really to see "Good Guys..." but I remember her telling her high school friends on the phone the next couple of days how enjoyable "On Any Sunday" was--I loved it too; it was actually before I really could narrow down that I am a big sucker for documentaries involving geography, and a couple of years before I watched my first hardcore porno (don't know how that relates to motorcycle movies, but I did start to get interested in bikes around the same time, so there could be a connection...)
No one mentioned "Dust to Glory" which wasn't so much about motorcycles than all the vehicles that ran the Baja 1000 a few years ago, but motorcycles and ATV's were involved in that race. Alot of fun, and if the planets align and a huge influx of cash comes my way, I might try to run one of the Bajas (probably the 250) on a Chinese bike--probably Qingqi, and if I still possess the cool, late 90's 3 chip Sony I have, a documentary could be in order (it could be sooner if someone else with the bag of cash does the same thing, and I just film it--if you know anyone, let me know; I live just a few hours from where the 250 is usually run)

I thought the main star of that show was a motorcycle rider who rode the last leg at night with a broken leg and ribs? They got the whole thing on helmet cam and he went down pretty hard going 70mph on dirt at night.
Amazing stuff. When he pulled in to the finish line they asked him if he needed anything and he I think he said "beer and a taco." First class.

Motorcycle shows
I guess you younguns don't remember a TV show from the 1960s called Then Came Bronson. About a guy who travelled the country (U.S. that is) on an XLCH if I remember right. That got me my first taste of motorcycles. Been crazy ever since.

On any sunday for me.
I liked the Long way around and have just started watching long way down.
I like to watch the Paris to Dakar when its on.
I liked watching Charlie Boorman's Race to Dakar I had bets on how long he would last.Totally over his head on that one.
I wonder when he will make a show on the Transorientale rally or a ride around China.(I Wonder what they could call it?):scooter: :eekers:
Zorge, checked out "Girl on a Motorcycle"... it's also named "Naked under Leather"! :eekers:
If you buy this movie, does it come in a solid black plastic bag? :mwink:

Re: Motorcycle Movies / Shows
Beats me. Probably in black leather bag...
That movie I watched some twenty years ago and I remember one sentence: "Cars are just tin boxes, but the motorcycle becomes part of your soul." or something like that.

Re: Motorcycle Movies / Shows
I just finished watching Mondo Enduro, an excellent film about 7 guys who set off to circle the world on 350 dirt bikes in the mid nineties. These guys are truly hardcore ADV riders, they made through some of the toughest parts of the world, sometimes only managing a few miles a day and without GPS or any of our fancy modern equipment. Highly recommended!

Gardo, I actually prefer when members bump old threads rather than starting new ones. this thread is exactly where your post should be. good on you!
only question is whether we can actually tune in that video here inside the great firewall. Alas, I see now that your link is to yout*be, which is forbidden here in the harmonious paradise.
cheers

Been thinking I should start a new hobby. Collecting motorcycle travelling videos and books.
Edit: Argh, ICT showing its ugliest side again with every forum making their own unique way to embed youtube vids.

Re: Motorcycle Movies / Shows
Just finished watching an interesting movie. Arctic Clutch
Young Canadian guy, brand new rider, buys a V-Strom and rides it from Toronto to the Arctic Circle, solo. Quite funny, but genuine - starts off, he can't even get on his tremendously overladen bike (taking everything one could possibly imagine).
Home-made via a hand-held cam, but reasonably well edited.
Hard to find this movie, but I will seed it via Utorrent for a few weeks.
Quadraphenia was a true brit classic. The mods and rockers scene.
Recently Sons of Anarchy coming from the US. A hard hitting TV show based around a gang of bikers running guns.
