BG Stunt Show at Red Bull Asia Show car Tour – Hong Kong Dragon Run
Red Bull, the world most famous energy drink - Hong Kong, one of the world’s most Vibrant city get together on the 18/6/2011 to put up a F1 Car show that is the 1st in Hong Kong, over 43000 fans get together at the Seal off Lung Wo Road at Central, next to the famous IFC Tower to enjoy this 1st of its kind in Hong Kong event.
From as early as 2007, Red Bull Formula team has been operating these Get close to the public, Street run of the Red Bull F1 cars so all the F1 fans and street people can get to see and hear a F1 car up close, this is a great opportunity for the promotion of Red Bull energy drinks and at the same time, to introduce F1 to more people.
In 2011, 6 rounds of these Red Bull Racing Asia F1 Show Car tour has been planned in Asia and 18/6/2011 is the Hong Kong Round.
The Red Bull F1 car and the show team arrived in Hong Kong on Monday 13/6/2011, and the F1 car was tow around Hong Kong to all the strategic locations to promote Red Bull and their partners, so the promotions lead up to a big event that many people has been looking forward to.
With the Support of the HK Automobile Association (HKAA), the newly built 1.46 km long Lung Wo Road, stretching from Central’s IFC Towers to the Liberation Army HQ at Admiralty was being seal off on Saturday allowing the event to be hosted at the heart of the Hong Kong Island commercial district.
BG-Motorsport, the only Pro-Super bike Stunt team in the Greater China region was invited to perform our famous Stunt show as a supporting event during the Red Bull Dragon Run.
But due to BG’s regular Stunt bike cannot be shipped back to Hong Kong as to the 19/6/2011 Sunday is the Zhuhai Circuit’s most important 2nd Round of the 2011 Pan Delta Racing Festival, so 1 x Kawasaki ZX6R race bike and another ZX750 street bike was lend to us by our long time sponsor and partner – Kawasaki’s importer : Titanic Motorcycles in Hong Kong.
The weather in Hong Kong has been horrendous a few days into the event’s weekend, thunder storms and heavy rain gave everyone a bad feeling for the weekend, and on the Friday morning just before the Sat event when BG’s Stunt Pro and mechanics were busy turning the 2 race and street bike into a usable Stunt bike, a lightning hit the roof top of the bldg where BG’s Hong Kong shop and workshop is and set fire to the sheet metal house at the roof, the fir trucks and police came and in less then 30 mins the fire was out, but the building was seal off for the rest of the day and only to be re-open at 9.30 in the night, this has gave everyone hardly any time to finished working on the bike and no time to test.
So on Sat noon time, the 2 BG Stunt bike was delivered to the event compound with no testing and set up and then we’re informed that there will not be any open practice time and our bikes are not to run over the city speed limit of 50 km/hr.
The main event started at 6.30 pm, the Sat weather has been brilliant, except with a couple of light showers in the morning, the sky clears up from noon time onwards, it was actually sunny all afternoon making the climate very hot for everyone.
The supporting events are the Lotus car run, a Car drift show, BG Stunt bike show, then the Red Bull F1 car doing a demo run.
The moment the Stunt bike was out to the road after the Lotus car and Drift car runs, the Crowd was already getting all excited, the moment the Stunt guys heard the cheer of the crowd, all precautions was out of the window and they start to put on a great stunt show with high speed wheelie, stoppies, the over 43000 strong crowd reacted by giving them more cat calls and applause which fuel our stunt guys even more to give a better show each time when its their turn to go out to cheer the crowd up.
The 2 Street bikes stand up extremely for the hot weather and there were 3 x Super bike Stunt shows in between the 3 Lotus car, Drift and F1 car demo runs.
The event ended at close to 8.00pm in the evening, everyone were extremely happy that the event has been ran extremely well and the spectators and invited guest all has great fun.
There was a after event party at the famous Watermark Restaurant next to the event site and all the Red Bull managers and guest all gave BG the thumb up for putting up such a great show.
This F1 Demo Run show was the 1st such event in the history of Hong Kong and judging from the number of spectators present at the event and the number of press/media/TV reporting, this event will be broadcasted and reported allover the world which will give Hong Kong, Red Bull and the BG team some of the biggest well deserved international exposure.
