Now that you have a solid lead on the BMW, if anyone else is interested in a Yamaha tdm 850, I know a guy looking to sell his here in Shanghai.
http://www.google.com/search?q=yamah...ed=0CBgQ_AUoAQ
Motokai, any details? Price, year, condition, legality...
96 Yamaha TDM850
23K km
I haven't seen the bike but I know the owner (local guy) and he claims “车况还不错”
RMB 18500
No plate, so you'll have to find a means to get it registered.
If anyone interested I can put you in touch with the owner.
Cheers, i have a mate who's looking for a bike, let you know if he's interested.
No disrespect Motokai, as I realise you are just the messenger... but I got to point out for any of the uninitiated potential motorbike buyer here in mainland China (and warn others) to be really cautious... while the TDM850 received fairly good reviews when it was launched (as did the TDM900), this is a 1996 model motorcycle - 15 years old... and claiming 23000km which I'm highly sceptical of. It's owned by a local, who may or may not have looked after it (serviced reguarly etc), but take a moment to realise that there are few really decent motorcycle servicing shops around especially when it comes to large displacement imported bikes. Plus many bikes when first landed on the mainland are stripped of many of the valuable internal components for lesser quality ones. BUYER BEWARE!
No disrespect. As you said I'm just the messenger!
And good points/good post.
On separate issue, I'm thinking about making a run for the Hangzhou Bay Bridge (plan would be to truck the bike over the bridge) and discover some of the awesome rolling mountain roads outside of Ningbo.
Check out the Motowhere thread here and if possible maybe you can lay down some of your favorite routes around Northeastern Zhejiang onto the site?
Thanks!
[EDIT: Just saw your post there Bikerdoc. Yes, you should be able to lay down the entire route. Try it and let me know if this works for you - see you in Ningbo!]
Good stuff, I've often thought about trucking bikes over the bridge and decided to something even better. HD (SH & BJ) have a few different motorcycle trailer configurations for sale (self titling and stow away) for some good pricing considering. I and a friend are considering buying one. Just a thought.
When I have a moment, I had planned already to lay my many tracks down on the motowhere site. But it's like many of my plans and wants (CFMoto HZ facilities review and the CF650NK photos and review (yes got to see and sit on a 650NK up close)). One day, one day!!!
OH, and for gawds sake let me know when you will be in Ningbo, I will show you around... :)
