I dont know.
Could be real, could be fake. Although there is no evidence that he is going to jail, that does seem to be police motorcycle impound yard. The law does state that those things can happen but I've never heard of it in 7 years here, other than rumors.
I think the bike has Hubei plates. Maybe the plates are fake and he's getting in trouble because of that and no insurance as well, rather than the license problem.
There was a case a few years back of a 4ner who rode his bike from Chengdu to Yaan without plates or license or helmet. He was apparently arrested.
I think they will arrest you but either you've got to be one holier than thou dick-head or the cop has a real axe to grind.
Either way, that guys bike was in trouble! Maybe he was riding inside a ring road?

Some years back, a European guy on a business visa was driving a car without license in Rizhao, Shandong. He killed a lady one night, being drunk, and was detained for 3 or 4 weeks down there before he has been released into house arrest (after Embassy intervention) into a BJ hotel (at his own cost of course). Reputedly, 100k EUR compensaiton made him leave China - forever. I personally know this guy btw.
Causing death by dangerous drunk driving would probably get anyone forced to pay massive compensation and deported, whether they had a Chinese license or not.Quote:

Video from my Nokia N72. I was pulled over on May 2nd, 2008 for being a foreigner. I was then taken to jail for 7 nights then kicked out of the country for not having a proper Chinese drivers license. They kept the sidecar. This was the last time I was in it. There were at least half a dozen police motorcycles escorting me to the police station along with the cop driving my sidecar. I then went directly to jail for a week.
If you were punished under Chinese law, death by drunk dangerous driving would probably get around 7-15 years in jail. I think that deportation and banishment was an alternative to prison as he was a foreigner.Quote:
