Who's renting hacks in the SW?
Howdy All,
Planning my next trip to CN for late next Spring or early Summer '13. This time I'd like to ride Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan area. Since I haven't been back to China in a few years, I don't know how the environment has changed. Basically, my two questions are "Who's renting bikes?", and "Is the licensing situation any different than 2009?"
My wife and I have an apartment in Guangzhou Panyu so I'd like to stage out of there, but I think I heard in the past that someone is renting CJ's that can be picked up in or around Kunming.
Anyone have any info?
Cheers,
Dan K.
Re: Who's renting hacks in the SW?
Hi Dan,
I don't know anyone in the Pearl River Poo Poo pit renting bikes. We also haven't seen ANY progress in the licensing issue here. Was thinking of your situation and thought I would make a suggestion. Since your wife is Chinese, why not apply for a spousal visa? You would then have the necessary long term visa required for getting a license, and it would also make it easier for you to come and go as you please in China. Once you get the license, you're good to go for six years, then you can go back to the regular tourist visa for future visits.
Cheers!

Thanks ChinaV. I brought this up with my wife and she's going to look into it for me.
