Smoking wires when starting Kinlon 200SM
Thought i was create a new thread rather then messing with my other on valves..
Anyhow.
While i had the tank etc off i noticed the wire from the back of ignition coul(green) was melted to exposed wire..I taped it up with insulation tape.
While using the electric start i then noticed it did the same thing on a wire from the the negative terminal battery terminal as it was melting/smoking.
Could this be a bad earth or something?Dont really want to cook my wiring and have to kickstart
Re: Smoking wires when starting Kinlon 200SM
Check the large negative battery cable that goes from the battery to the engine case. If it's disconnected or has a bad connection the starter motor current will be carried by whatever smaller ground is available.

thanks..I will check that as i had that off to put some tidy up sleeving on it.
Re: Smoking wires when starting Kinlon 200SM
Most chinese bikes use wire that is way too thin, especially battery leads. I would replace both battery leads with a heavier wire, I have seen hundreds of them that smoke the original wires under load.
