Re: Thinking about getting a CQR250
Hi, I've had a 250 CQR (bought new) for the last 7 months.
It is true most everything will fall apart !! But, you'll get it fixed for nothing everywhere ...
You just shouldn't buy this as you 1st bike, you don't need so many problems.
Still if you're able to maintain it or understand problems before they happen / as they happen ...
Loctite is really what it misses.
Honestly, I'm having fun with mine ...
Re: Thinking about getting a CQR250
Actually, CQR isn't as bad. I kinda have a feeling half people in this post have just seen a CQR or heard it pass by.
Getting it legal - dream on. But it is a fun bike and your cheapest way into enduro. Got my CQR exactly for the offroad needs, wasnt planning to take it on the roads (even though i sometimes ride it to work). 9 months so far. Dropped it god knows how many times, riden it through shiet and mud, the bike got air and tough landings. All i changed in 9 months of riding it offroad literally every sunday for the whole day - twice the oil, once the clutch cable. Snapped the licence plate holder during one of the falls (who cares, in any case the bike got no papers). Super easy to maintain. Super cheap parts. It is a bit on the heavy side for anything too serious (my version is 135kg dry. I wish it were at least 120. Obviously not dreaming of those KTMs and Husquarnas with their 100-105). But, jezuz, it does and it goes. The fun part that the bike costs cheaper than my helmet, and that is the best part about it. If you total the bike - there are no superhard feelings about it.
One advice. Go for the 18-21 wheels. The 16-19 is horrible. Was tiny even for my wife who is 163cm 50kg. Keep in mind that you'd better have your won at least 175cm 75kg, otherwise that bike will be a bit too heavy and tall to operate in shiet offroad conditions.
(dont pay attention to a KTM styled light and non-cqr stickers. It is a CQR)
