Help! Part id needed

Hello, I'm about to put the crankcase cover back on and I need to determine if this part (pictured) is important. I found it stuck to the flywheel, w/obvious nicks and scratches in the magneto. I've checked all the related schematics and can't ser where it fits into. It's metal, no threading or driver fitment, w/a spring around it. The bike was bought used/for parts, so I have no idea if it came from the engine or was dropped into the dipstick hole.
Bike is a CF Moto V3 which uses the same engine as the Honda Helix 172mm.
