Re: Car Ferries to Hainan
Hi Winston,
If you're looking for some good routes through Guangdong, let me know. There's a place to stay, and a workshop for the bikes at my house in Dongguan if you need it . Be very careful coming into Guangdong, the Asian games have just ended, but all the roads within 100 kilometers of Guangzhou are loaded with security checkpoints, and they stop everyone.
There is a ferry that goes from Guangzhou to Haikou, it departs in the afternoon and arrives the following morning. I think it's like 18 hours and around ¥700. You will have to do some google searches to find out the details.
Cheers!

Re: Car Ferries to Hainan
Shanghaifingers - Ever make this trip?
Has anyone else ever been to Hainan Island with their motos?
Found info on the ferries but do any of them (either from Guangzhou or one that shoots across the Qiongzhou Strait) allow motos to board?
If so, are there links to this service/schedules?
Thanks.

Re: Car Ferries to Hainan
Yes I did make this trip.... I chose to drive down to the southern most city across from Hainan. I meet a Harley Rider from Guang Dong who had just come off the ferry from Guandong and he said its about 400 rmb and 18 hrs but well worth avoiding the boring route south past Guang Dong.... It leaves 3 times a week and you can go to either HaiKou (northern city) or the much nicer Sanya in the South....
Hainan is really cool, it has both awesome jungle riding to mountain passes. You can even very easily get onto the beach in Bo'ao on the east coast....
