The pushrod or OHV type will be easier to maintain, setting the valve clearance, removing cylinder head, etc.
In theory they have less performance but for a day to day ride to work you won't notice the difference.
If the systems are made well and ridden gently they should both be about equally as reliable. In a high performance environment I think the OHC (overhead cam with a timing chain) is better due to the circular movement of the chain and cam. When you start to rev a push rod engine real hard I think the up/down motion of the push-rods (which connect the crank with the valves actuators) can be a little rough on the engine especially since there's a change of bending the rods.
The plus side of a push rod engine is that as long as it's gently ridden, it's a real work horse. I've had one run for hundreds of kilometers after getting literally entirely flooded. OHC (cam chain) engine require a great amount of lubrication at the head or parts start to shred.
