Shipping licensed motorcycles inside China
Hi guys, searched the forum but could not find the info I was looking for so I thought this might be a good thread.
I am looking into options for shipping my bike inside China (Beijing - Chengdu and Xi'an - Beijing in particular) for my tour in May. I heard you can ship via train or hire a truck to transport your bike. So how does it work via train? Do I have to call ahead and arrange everything weeks in advance? And if, whom do I call. Or can I just show up at any train station and tell the guys to unload the bike at a particular station? Do I have to accompany the bike? Dry tank? Disconnect the battery? Can I put some luggage on the bike? What is the price?
As for trucks: I guess most things are negotiable with the trucking company/owner of the truck. Can anybody reccommend a good trucking company in BJ and maybe even in Xi'an? Any ideas about costs? Do I have to put the bike in a crate?
A lot of questions. Would be nice if this thread could develop into some kind of sticky guide.
And if I overlooked an already existing thread, please point me to it.
