To post YouTube videos in a thread, all you have to do is "wrap" you video number in [youtube] "tags"
1) Find the YouTube video identifier on the URL of your video. It usually looks something like: 3LVyaFOIhn8
2) In the editor, hit the "Wrap [youtube] tags around selected text" button and the tags will appear.
3) Insert the video identifier between the tags and Click "Preview Post" to make sure it works and that's it!
Happy posting!

Yo-Jimbo! That's some neat video work there. Looks like you had fun with additive dissolves! What software did you use?

Ulead Video Studio 11, it is pretty easy to use, and relatively cheap to buy... I originally used a way older version in high school years ago, and it was so easy which is why I have it now. I've seen some good stuff made with it on youtube, I don't really have any video to work with though.
Any thoughts on a "motography" section to the forum? Or is that just sort of blended in with the expectation of photos with posts? edit(now this question is irrelevant ;))

While were on the subject, what software did you use when you were producing your DVD, and how did you do the menus?

CrazyCarl
Adobe Premiere series was used from start to finish. If you're looking into some slightly more capable and mid-level professional software for not too much I suggest using Premiere Elements. Has lots of cool authoring (menu-making) templates which are extremely customizable.
If you're interested in DVD authoring or video production, it's essential to have good working knowledge of Photoshop as these two integrate seamlessly and are used for all kinds of effects (titles, transitions, etc.).
Also, learning how to use key-frames is extremely important as well as proper sound editing. All of this really takes some time and bunches of practice. More professional software can make certain aspects easier but will also give you more options than you'll know what to do with...just like photoshop.
If you haven't already, check out the ChongQing moto expo video. It's got voice over, live track, looped music, simple title effects and basic sound design principles in it. Same software for that but of course no need for authoring.

Sounds good Carl :) I haven't used premiere, though I am familiar with many adobe products, I just use ulead for the price difference, same reason why I have paint shop pro as apposed to photoshop. Although, I am certain premiere is more capable then ulead, ulead is decent for simple stuff like I used it for :)
I did check out the video, not much on the Lifan side of things, guess they had a boring line up?

I didn't see much of anything too exciting from their company or I would have surely posted it. I was smelling around for 250's but non could be found.
I just posted a few video production tips in the Camera corner, worth a quick browse if you're interested.

All you need is the video identifier like:3LVyaFOIhn8
Between the "youtube" tags. Nothing else.

Thanks :), About Lifan, they should be coming out in Canada soon with a LF250-GY7 water cooled bike, also the bike I posted in the dual sport section, the 250GY6, it isn't water cooled though, I forget it's actual displacement.

Hi guy`s !! I am new.....
and I try to find out how to work with this site.
for a beginner it is not so easy, so, questions:
1. where is the button for posting without answering to a post.
2. the description for posting a Youtube Video is also not very clear. (in this moment I didn`t get it!)
to make a Photo Album was easy. I believe the rest is also very easy, but this moment I am helpless.
with greetings from Beijing

Sabine,
If you haven't worked with a VBulletin type board before it can take some time to get used to, even for the best of us. There are still some features in here I don't know how to use!
1) I think you're referring to posting a "new thread" and to do that you'll see a blue button on the top and bottom of the left side which says "New Thread" and looks like:
2) To pos youtube videos, take the video identifier for you video which is all the numbers and letters after the "=" sign in the URL. In your case it's : xo-RAG6cLwc
In a post, highlight the "xo-RAG6cLwc" with a click and drag of your mouse and then click on the "Wrap [YOUTUBE] tage around selected text" button above. To see if it work properly you can click "Preview post" below the editing window.
I did exactly what your today`s answer said. I also found the "wrap arround Button". Now I am waiting since 1 hour and in my post is still the "Quote, xo-RAG6cLwc" reading.
in "preview Post" it was the same. From YouTube I am used to wait a longer Time, is this the same in this Blog?
I know, every beginning is not easy.
I promise, when I got it, I will make a teaching Video and post it in this Blog. for the next one`s to have an easier Start.

Sabine,
In your post it should look something like:
[YOUT*BE]xo-RAG6cLwc[/YOUT*BE]
Replace the * with U because if the U's are there, it will embed (show) the video in the post like...
If you do it correctly, it should show up almost immediately. Maybe Andy can help explain in German if I am not too clear?

Sehr Schone! Wunderbar! Thanks so much for taking the time to create that excellent tutorial video! It is plain to see you have a real creative spirit and passion.
For future reference, what software did you use to create the panning action in the tutorial?

the Programm I have used
is: Camtasia Studio 5 from TechSmith. I have downloaded a Trial Version and I am absolutly satified! That small Video was, more or less, my first Try to work with it.
It is especially made for that kind of Presentations or anything else you need a Screenshot.

Too bad you can't embed the high quality versions...
01-18-2009, 03:34 AM
CrazyCarl
The ability to embed high quality videos is determined by the video host which mostly means Youtube. If they make their high res version available for embed then it should appear on VBulletin like any other video.

not true...
It has to do with how the forum is setup.
For example, on china-moto.biz you don't simply wrap the video id in youtube tags, you wrap the url in media tags... By doing this you can include the &fmt=18 after the video url, and that will make it embed the high quality version... It works for youtube, just not with the youtube tags in this forum, you can put the fmt parameter after the video id tag here but it is ignored.

CrazyCarl
Jim,
I'll check it out. The only ID tag available when you look at a video is without the "&fmt=18". However I'm finding if you manually add it to the url you'll get a High Quality version page.
If wrapping in "media tags" doesn't involve opening the site up to HTML (and all kinds of not so friendly Java and ActiveX scripts) then it's worth checking out. I'll take a look at China-moto.biz and see how they handle it. If there's a safe way to post high res videos on here I'm all for it!

I tried it, is it what you meant? I don't see a difference.

No, the videos you posted are the same. Be sure not to confuse the URL with the IDtag. The USL is the full web address like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvIQxfHtmVY. The IDtag is just the:LvIQxfHtmVY. If you type the whole URL in your browser and add the "&fmt=18" end, then it will take you straight to the "high quality" version of the Youtube. Not all videos on youtube have the HQ option as it depends on the res of the original file.
Jim is claiming that the China-Moto.biz site has the ability to embed the high quality video right into the post/page. I have never seen this before so I'll be interested to see if it's true. What we SHOULD get is a larger embedded video screen. VBulletin uses BBCode for the [youtube] tags and this is based on the "embed" data you get on the upper right hand side of each youtube video. You will see that it does NOT point to the URL but points to a www.youtube.com/V/<idtag> regardless of which version you're watching, youtube only natively offers one imbed type (and this is in their interest because of bandwidth considerations).
I suspect the other site enables HTML in their posts which allows it to directly use the URL, but this also opens a page up to other problems. Either way, I'll check it out. I would love to have the ability to post a widescreen high-res video in the forum posts.

If you go to the video, you can see the watch in high quality link, or you can manually add the thing to the url... There is one other one, fmt=22 I think, it depends on the video, if it doesn't have that version it will simply play the regular version.... I don't know the specs of each format off hand, they are available online, I believe the 22 one (or maybe it was 20), is for ipod video, with higher quality sound, and slightly smaller resolution...
The site doesn't have html enabled, it simply has different tags to embed youtube with... They can be used with other media sharing sites.
Paying attention the actual videos now though it may actually ignore the fmt tag over there as well... It would be nice if it worked though. It looks a lot better in the other format.

I tried it again, again and again.....
this is the best I can get out of YouTube. It is still "fresh", maybe, a better Quality will process in some Hours. Now "watch in high Quality" is not available.
the Original File is 1680x1020, high Resolution. The original Export to Quicktime is nearly perfect.
Today:
1. I exported the .mov to .m4v, now I have a very good Video on my IPod Touch. I can read everything! Even when the Screen is tiny.
2. I went back to the Camtasia Sudio 5 file, exported to "Web", .html. Than I uploaded this .html file to YouTube. The Upload was finished, and at the End of Processing YouTube send this Message: Processing failed, File too small.
3. I made a new Export to Quicktime. This Time with the Option : save original Size. The Product you can see above.
For me, here is the End of the Road. I am not a Technician, I am really not happy with this Stuff.
If someone likes to try, I will send him/her the original Camtasia Studio 5 File (free Download for 30 Days) or the .mov file.
Today I was on the Road with our ChangJiang, really not cold! ... and I have another Question:
When riding alone, I would like to have a Helmet Camcorder, not a fixed one on the Bike. There is sooooo much to see arround!
I can cut off every "shit" take, or Stop, to make a Take with our Panasonic. I would like to capture the Things I see, not a "fixed Shot". any Ideas what we should buy?
.....and Please, easy to connect, you know, I am not the Technician in our small family.
( Andy !!!! you have shown me on your Post tooooo much cables!)
so, Hello and Good Night to everyone.

Sabine,
There are wireless video cameras that record straight to an SD card. The quality from these is not always the best but they are convenient, waterproof and could be fun to play with.
yes, something like that. During the Holidays we will check it out.
Thank`s !!

Helmet cam
Hi Sabine
The shop in Germany, where I got my recorder from, offers some package solutions. Check out their site.
If you ask our ever present friends from Google for "Helmkamera", you'll have material for a day of reading. :deal:

Helmet-Cam
a very good link, good Informations.
The small SUV Cam2 would be nice but I dont like > integrierter Akku<. It is much more better to have seperate, chargeable Akkus.
...... and they are really expensive, I didn`t thought that. Most of them are more expencive than our big Panasinic Camcorder! Maybe we will check the Internet for Informations and than go to Zongguanchun to test some.
You own one, are you satisfied with the Recording Results?
