Insight to how you get onto the toll roads

I tend to not use the far right lane as the police are normally waiting to stop you.
Try the ECT lane which is normally on the far left and just hook up behind a car that is going to use this lane.
Works for me OK
Just happy to see the guy get on ok.

But as time goes on and more big bike try their luck in this way it will get harder and the police will get a bit smarter IMO

Right, but genrally speaking, if they turn you back how do you suppose to exit the road?
Are you expected to reverse ride-back a mile or so till the nearest exit?
And in case you are on the express way already and exiting it (with no entrance ticket given as you followed a car at entry point) - do they just let you go or ask for fare or what?

It depends on exactly where on the Expressway the offending rider has been intercepted or stopped. If it occurs on an on-ramp toll or similar, and there is room, or space available for the rider to turn around and leave, then that's likely what the rider would be expected to do. If the rider however is already well and truly on the Expressway and is say exiting from the Expressway then, the rider might be let off at the exit toll booth. However I have had an incident where the toll booth attendant was surprised to see a motorcycle on the Expressway and attempting to exit, she wouldn't lift the barrier arm, and instead used a telephone to speak with someone else. Since there was enough space, I didn't wait around to exchange pleasantries with the 3rd party. I simply smiled and said "see ya" and rode off, avoiding the barrier arm, off the Expressway. If on the other hand, a rider is apprehended somewhere along the Expressway, be it at a provincial border toll or elsewhere along the Expressway, then based on my experience, the rider will be escorted off at the nearest exit and be required to follow a Traffic PSB vehicle to do so. If a motorcyclist rode onto an Expressway - however they rode/got on, without obtaining a 'card' then it follows the rider would need to find a means to exit etc with as little chance of detection or apprehension as possible. Given that some Expressways allow motorcycles, and payment is also required then the motorcycle rider would be expected to stop and pay like most other users at applicable toll booths. However, some provincial Expressway authorities or operators tolerate motorcycles, and others turn a 'blind eye' and payment for use isn't required or expected. Ride on, ride off. Riding on Expressways really is a cat and mouse game, or stick and carrot. Like most of TIC; Passive vs aggressive. YMMV

one point I like to make is when do you know which one will allow you on and which ones don't
Great if you live in the area and you are knowledgeable of the rules in that area.
But for me when I travel about I treat ALL Tolls roads as the same (That one is not allowed on).
The time saved when you need to get from one area to another by using the toll roads is just remarkable.
I have in the past clocked up over 1500 km many times in a day when using the toll roads with my best stands at just over 1800km.
That was a long day and hard work. lol

Ha, I love it. Just found this post and video. Not only is it the same model as my old bike, but I have used the exact same tactic - after getting stopped, just ride on by!

Only once did i get escorted off the motorway by the psb - they were very polite about it and wished me good journey - but on the regular roads. They saw my bike parked at the rest stop and they camped out behind my bike waiting for me to approach.

And yes getting through the tolls to get off can be a problem. I would just blast through - hugging a car in the ect lane works great. But when I returned from my long trip and entered Beijing province (where bikes are allowed) I stopped at the toll booth and was prepared to pay whatever they charged. I told them I got on in Shandong province. But they just could not process me without a ticket. They consulted with each other for a long time and finally motioned me to go around the gate without paying. Geesh, does no one ever lose a ticket? I wonder what do they do in those cases? cars can't drive around the barrier. So I ended up still on the expressway without a ticket. When I got to my final destination I just crashed the gate again because it seemed pointless to try to pay without the ticket.

Accord. To my experience coming from Hebei (after sneaking on ) into BJ region they just gave me a ticket once I reached the BJ area toll station.
Just told them " meiyou piao", no nagging, no further asking, no phone call. Maybe "experienced" staff sitting in the booth

No one has had problems receiving service from the gas stations on the toll roads?

one petrol station even had a very old rusty kettle, which I was refused to use.
So I needed to go to the next service station, so with that in mind, my advise is.

1. Fill up long before you need to.
2 . Check to see if there is an exit point nearby.
3. Smile and be happy and don't talk Chinese
4. Carry extra fuel

And always remember you are illegally riding on the Toll road in most cases

Let's just say I know a guy who isn't me, who gets on the toll roads here in and around the Guangzhou/Guangdong area when he's in a rush for time or doesn't feel like riding behind trucks and muck on the regular highways. And he's been doing this for years and never had a problem. He even recently did it right in the middle of a big meeting here in Guangzhou a couple of weeks ago, the Fortune Global Business Forum where many politicians and leading industry execs were present and security was on high alert EVERYWHERE in this area - nothing happened to him at all from doing the usual dodge on/off... But, in hindsight he realizes things won't be like this forever and that things are changing and enforcement will start to become more serious in the future with the way things seem to be shaping up from a certain, let's say, political point of view.

I had another friend who rode his scooter to a relatively remote riverside beach, and three armed cops showed up in a SWAT vehicle and interrogated him intensely for half an hour in the sun. Not something that happens everyday in the area of Guangzhou he was in. Specifically it was just outside zengcheng, for those who are familiar with it.

Something that may be relative to this thread and the ramifications of law enforcement or breaking the law, etc. - here's an interesting story by the BBC to give you a glimpse of things to come... Stay safe... Eyes are watching you at all times. Not to mention their cyber controls as well and plans to have China nearly cut off from the world by making VPN usage illegal... I could go on and on.

Pro -tip - go on at nighttime. I'm a little shocked about Guangdong, I've been chased down on that expressway. Some of the expressway gate arms seem to be getting longer but who knows. On the one hand, I think providing for irontight anti motorcycle enforcement on these expressways runs into the "Not My Job" symptom of large bureaucracies which has allowed us all to skirt the rules. On the other hand, all you need at this point is one signature from above to change all that.

Night time or holidays when the tolls are free.

Also, pick an entry on-ramp out of town small quite one much easy and no police about.
