SMC Motorcycles PLEASE HELP!
Hello.
This is my second post on this forum and I'm asking for help.
Late last year I bought a SMC YB125 motorbike in the UK directly from the distributor. Since then the company has ceased trading.
I found out when I emailed them (SMC) inquiring about spare parts and received a reply from someone (not from SMC) who first of all informed me that SMC had gone out of business and went on to say that 'they' meaning his company had been contracted to take on all parts and warranty obligations. I wasn't to happy with the fact that the email address was a Google account and there was no company name but the guy assured me that all would be OK getting replacement parts so I thought 'fair enough'.
However when I contacted them again I didn't receive any reply and haven't done since which is a bit of a worry.
I have been in touch with a couple of dealers in the UK who sold the bikes and asked where or if indeed they obtained parts for SMC bikes and they said they had email correspondence with this nameless parts company somewhere in Gloucester (UK) but like me all communication had stopped leaving them in the same situation as myself and no doubt countless other SMC owners.
As you can probably guess my problem in the future (the bike is running fine at the moment) will be that I cannot get replacement parts for my bike leaving me high and dry.
I'm going to contact Galaxy motorcycles in China as they are the actual manufactureres of the bikes SMC was just a a brand name and see if they can help with getting parts. I thought I'd post my problem on this forum and see if any of you guy's can help.
Many thanks.
Darryl.
Re: SMC Motorcycles PLEASE HELP!
Hi Daryl,
Oh dear that sounds bad news, when did you contact them ?
I've just imported a Galaxy XTR 250 direct from Galaxy, and was hoping I would buy any parts needed from SMC dealers.....but it sounds like that's not the case anymore.....Dam !
I'd be interested to hear what reply you get from Galaxy.
Cheers
Andy
Re: SMC Motorcycles PLEASE HELP!
Hi Andy.
Thanks for getting back to me. I've just received a reply from Galaxy (phew) see below.
Hi, Darryl Smith
Nice to receive your email.
Of course we are willing to help.
Please let me know what kind of parts do you need ? Please send me a list of the part with quantity. to avoid any misunderstanding, it would be better if you could take a picture of the broken parts. We could send you the parts at charge. If parts are not with big quantities, we could send them to you by air at your charge also.
Waiting for your reply.
hopefully that sorts my, yours and everybody else's problem. As mentioned I don't have any problems with the bike right now but I know I will need some bits and pieces as time goes by.
Lydia is the name of the person from Galaxy email is trade@yinhemotor.com.cn
Cheers.
Darryl.
Re: SMC Motorcycles PLEASE HELP!
Hi Daryl,
Phew, that is a relief !
I'm glad you got a reply from them, I've been dealing with Galaxy for the last 3 months.....sometimes their replies are almost instant, and other times it can take a week for them to reply. But on the whole they are a pretty good company to deal with. I know the guys on the site living over in China really rate them as a company.
keep in touch.
Andy

Re: SMC Motorcycles PLEASE HELP!
Yeah I was thinking the same thing Carl.
Andy I'll stay in touch regarding this. Gotta say that I have been to a mechanic near to me for a couple of minor things
and I'm getting a bit sick of them always siting 'cos it's Chinese' when they come across a problem they either can't fix or don't know how to fix.
Anyway happy riding.
Darryl.
Re: SMC Motorcycles PLEASE HELP!
Worst part is, if they can't fix a Chinese bike I wonder if they can tie their own shoes! :lol8:
