Free copy china2wheels magazine
From Dave McMullan to MCM users...
The team from china2wheels has developed a new magazine which ONLY features news, new models, events, expos and advice on the Chinese motorcycle industry. We will NOT be running features on Honda, Polaris, Triumph or any other non-Chinese company (unless they're affecting the Chinese industry). We know that your local magazines have that news and that what you really need from us is news from China ONLY.
We have just finished our first sample issue which you can read by going to
http://cnluwo.com/C2W/01/C2W01.html#p=1
Future issues will be fully interactive (this is a sample issue to get your thoughts on)
Our website is not ready yet but will be soon. If you have a chance to look at the magazine can you please tell us what you like, what you don’t like and what YOU need to read in future issues? We will adapt the magazine around YOUR requirements.
C2W (china2wheels) will be free to everyone every month from now.
Best wishes from David and the C2W team!

Re: Free copy china2wheels magazine
Dave, please give us plain .pdf version, because this slow loading of almost every page kills my enthusiasm.
-
Re: Free copy china2wheels magazine
It loaded instantly for me, not that sure about the alternating orientations though. I personally do not have too much trouble rotating the orientation but others may find it distracting, if not challenging.
-
Re: Free copy china2wheels magazine
I've had good reports about the loading speed worldwide but it's slow for me too! When I get back from Canton fair I'll send you the PDF Zorge, in future the PDF will be available for download as an option anyway.
Also, next issue will have English instructions and will be completely interactive, as I mentioned, this was a sample that I had to get ready before Canton fair.

Re: Free copy china2wheels magazine
Thanks!
If I can say something, after reading twenty-something pages: Dave, it looks that editing of a magazine is not completely "terra incognita" for you. It is first issue and I believe that some thing will be different in future, but "me likey alot".

Re: Free copy china2wheels magazine
Cheers Zorge and all, just spent my first day at Canton fair and the really stand out bike for me was a XGJAO, getting full details on that and others over the next 3 days. Forgot my bloody camera (great journalist I am) so waiting for my wife to come tomorrow to-
A Bring the camera
B Stop me drinking to much with factory bosses and
C Just basically ruining my fun and reminding me that we're "here to work"
Cheers from an eminently serviceable but predictable expo.

Re: Free copy china2wheels magazine
I heard there are these flash new kinds of phones that have cameras. I know it's hard to believe but apparently they have loads of pixels crammed in there and produce amazing images.
I doubt they will catch on.
-
Re: Free copy china2wheels magazine
I've heard about those telephones, allegedly with cameras, but I doubt - they are to small to fit 110 film cartridge, not to mention plain 35 mm film. :lol8:
-
Re: Free copy china2wheels magazine
Can't read it, don't have flash. Flash is dead anyway, one should never ever use it anymore.

Re: Free copy china2wheels magazine
you may want to use swiffy? Dave, some of your audience has sworn off using flash players.
-
Re: Free copy china2wheels magazine
Swiffy it is then, cheers very much mate.

Re: Free copy china2wheels magazine
Thanks for all of you suggestions, this is a sample copy and intended to provoke reaction, I'm really happy that some of you have taken the time to give me some brilliant advice.
By January it will be nice and ready and can hopefully please the China moto fans and traders.
If anyone has the desire to visit moto city give me a bell and I'll buy you a pint (or 9) and hotpot.

Re: Free copy china2wheels magazine
Oh, wait for reaction about content - this is just reaction on a magazine format. :icon10:

Re: Free copy china2wheels magazine
What was that?
You started to talk like Java, Martin Mystere's sidekick? :lol8:
-
Re: Free copy china2wheels magazine
Actually, I could do with feed back about the content, I'm just putting together the 2nd issue.
-
Re: Free copy china2wheels magazine
Don't worry - judging by first 40-50 pages, you did a good job with first issue.
Currently, I'm bit busy with harvesting, ploughing and sowing, but very soon I'll read the magazine from cover to cover because I'm, as you can see, kinda interested in the Chinese motorcycle industry. Plus, you are on the spot and you can recognize what could be interesting for non-Chinese reader.
So, thumbs up!

Re: Free copy china2wheels magazine
I'll ask the designer to send me the PDF Zorge. In future it will be an option to download anyway.
-
Re: Free copy china2wheels magazine
The next issue will feature reports on Zongshen and Keeway.
If there's ever anything in particular you would like to see reported please let me know.

Re: Free copy china2wheels magazine
You know what could be interesting for C-moto enthusiasts, so... "from top to bottom", from showrooms to foundries. :mwink:
I repeat, I didn't managed to shovel whole magazine, so perhaps something like that is already there...
I'd like to see, as a regular column, detailed overview of a Chinese motorcycle engines, one per issue, starting with the "mainstream" engines, and then all of these new or improved designs. Also, it would be interesting to see articles about C-moto frame designs. Basically, all topics related to the motorcycles components would will be interesting for me.
-
Re: Free copy china2wheels magazine
BTW, is first issue's .pdf finished?
-
Re: Free copy china2wheels magazine
That engine overview would be a great feature in each magazine. I would read the magazine just because of that enthusiastically.
-
Re: Free copy china2wheels magazine
There will be (hopefully) an engine review in each issue. Next issue is the Loncin TE engine
Zorge, how can I get this PDF to you? Are you on QQ?
-
Re: Free copy china2wheels magazine
"From top to bottom"
Great idea! I'll work on that with Jeremy Hamilton and Sean Kerr
-
Re: Free copy china2wheels magazine
I really enjoyed the magazine--it 'turned the pages' quickly and easily, and the ads made it interesting to see who are the 'players' who bothered to place ads! With chinariders.net and mychinamoto, years ago, I had imagined someone publishing a similar magazine for the USA and what bikes are available here, so if something like that is doable for any region of the world, perhaps something like that might be an expansion for you (I now doubt the US would be a good country, but there must be places, ie south of the US border, or Africa, where Chinese bikes dominate and could support their own magazine?
-
Re: Free copy china2wheels magazine
I'm redneck - I even do not know what is QQ. http://mindromp.org/forum/images/smilies/spruce.gif
If this is not too much trouble for you - you can upload this .pdf file on some file hosting with not only Chinese interface, such is, for example "Depositfiles" - http://dfiles.eu/, or some similar at your discretion. This way, anyone could download magazine and reading it even on e-book reader before sleep, or print it on the paper and use it the way he wants.
About "from top to bottom": I didn't found appropriate phrase. Maybe will be clearer if I say - "from A to Z" , "from alpha to omega"... Simply, I would like to see how some C-moto is born. That not refers only on final assembly line (it is well known how this thing work), but more on how they make frames, wheels, brakes, engines, carbs... And, of course, how people from some factory, decide which components to use when they design new bike.

Re: Free copy china2wheels magazine
Hello Calcune, thanks for your words, we have a great relationship with mainly the Chongqing factories so expect to see adverts from the top 20 CQ manufacturers.
Zorge, I will work out how to share it on DropBox, does that work for you?
-
Re: Free copy china2wheels magazine
Every file hosting with not only Chinese interface will be good.
Thx.
-
Re: Free copy china2wheels magazine
Hello Zorge, I've put the PDF on Dropbox, now I have to work out how to give you access to it! Dropbox is blocked in China so I've never really used it but I'll get the hang of it and let you know.
