Getting out of Shanghai (without plates)
So here it is. I know you guys dont want to help me with this kind of thing but I am absolutly f*ckin sick of waiting and waiting and waiting to get road legal. We have a three week trip planned and already five days in... still in Shanghai. Now we're told we may be waiting until monday (-10 days!! and then of course who knows... maybe more).
How can i get out of here without being checked. Are the checkpoints manned at night? is there a road with no check points? Please dont advise me to wait or tell me I'm a moron. I am fully aware of the risks and am not looking to start another discussion on the matter. I only bought the bike for this trip, driving in the city is sh*itty. By the time these people get their arse in gear I'll be back to work.
Please help
Re: Getting out of Shanghai (without plates)
Definitely feeling your pain, and there's nothing worse than waiting!
There are plenty of members here in Shanghai who are adept at evading checkpoints on the main routes out of town. There are also plenty of roads that are not the G318, G321, etc. and these are pretty safe, especially for a foreign face. I do hope that some more experienced than myself will chime in with some routes!
cheers!
