And to think, right, China is now moving to Euro3 emissions standard. So it will take [5? years] to phase out the ink squirting farmer trucks and buses littered everywhere. If only the Chinese would put off buying cars for few years to see if this team from Michigan delivers.

Looks promising, though i wouldn't mind more details. Is it really that great or are there major drawbacks that aren't mentioned in the article?
Still, it looks simple enough. I'll get to work reproducing it in my kitchen (potatoes make a great raw material for prototyping) and report back on my progress and findings.

These kinds of reports seem to come out every few years. I remember being a kid and reading similar findings in Popular Mechanics. "100 HP from a single cylinder". Nice thing about using potato prototypes is the wife can always serve the failed experiments for dinner.
