Because he is Chinese and thinks he knows best ? :lol8::lol8:
Hi,
Is the bike still available?
Few questions (bear wth me, new in BJ ;) )
How many years remaining on the 11years lifetime of the plate? (Still no way to renew it after right?)
such a big deal if I drive with a Jin B downtown (I work in Guomao) or is it tolerated like Hu B in downtown Shanghai?
How difficult is it to transfer the paperwork to myself from a public plate? Why would the original company /owner help out after all?
Thanks
T.
is it not 13 years?
regardless of that point, the life expectation of a rider in China is only about 2 years if your lucky so I am sure the bike will outlast you IMO.
Yes the bike is still available. My friend tells me a Chinese guy came to look at it today and was quite interested - but has not bought it yet.
It was first plated in 2013, so it has used up 4 years of its life - however long that may be now.
I hear that one can often get away riding a b plate in the restricted area, but that there are times when they crack down. I would not do a daily commute. I lived way out in yanqing county so never drove it within 4rth ring Rd.
As for transferring ownership - I forget the requirements but it's not easy for a foreigner. I'll find the post from mjh that explains how the a and b plates work in Beijing. It is different than Shanghai. Public b plate is legitimate.
I'll pm you the phone number of the guy selling it for me
Looking forward to read this post you're speaking of, did some research on the forum couldn't find it...

My mistake, the post is by LJH (Lao Jia Hou), not MJH
