Semi synthetic oils dont need to be changed as often and I used castrol in motor. Oil was just getting cloudy when changed so I felt it was still doing its job. Changing every 600 miles would get expensive and in my opinion be over kill. I did notice some metal in bottom of pan and also saw metal shavings when clutch was changed a few months back. I think maybe transmission gears were not sinced as well as a Suzuki trans and may have caused the lockup issue. Piston still moves easily with motor in neutral.
Has anyone done a motor swap with any other type engine? Trying to figure out a easy and less ezpensive engine other than qlink,
China riders member Fastdoc put a Lifan engine in a Honda XR and also owns an XF200, that’s a good person to communicate with on the matter.
In china your sons bike would get repaired and if the engine needed to be replaced it would get replaced with the same engine they do not have limited access to parts and the prices are not too high. There would be no real good or practical reason to change engine types in china.
This site would or could be useful to source internal parts for the engine maybe…possibly through taobao, but you would have to tear it down and see what failed. You would also have to be able to identify the parts needed.
The service manual for the model does cover rebuilds and is linked on the site.

The engine cost $280.00 in china....plus freight
How much would freight cost be to ship engine from china to Tampa Fla. 33710? I priced the qlink parts depot in texas and he quoted me 800.00 delivered to tampa which I cannot justify spending. If I could get a motor for 500.00 delivered I would do it. Anyone know freight cost. Website is in chineese so I am lost as to try to figure out freigt cost.

UPS and estimate the freight based on the weight and distance. You have to use a service to handle the Taobao purchase they are online as agents, they sell the service.
How about a EPA certificate on that engine?
Does Taobao have a english website that I can understand? How do you communicate with them on what you are looking for? Are they like a broker? I think I will order engine if freight is not to high.

Dear Cab4less,
Search this site for posts about Taobao Focus or just browse to www.taobaofocus.com, which is the best known agent. It's all in English and has been used by at least two US-based MCM members to buy stuff off Taobao. Sourcing an engine successfully would be a thing of beauty -- and confer major bragging rights!
Let us know how get on.
Cheers!
Cab,
I used the English version of Taobao Focus to order off Taobao. Focus is a broker that will charge a handing fee. My biggest charge was the air freight to the USA.

You do need to make sure the engine has a EPA approval or it will be crushed by US customs at POE.
