Re: TaoTao 150 exhaust header/port mismatch

Looking at replacement gaskets I wonder if TaoTao actually mounted the gasket sideways. Then it fell out when the nuts came loose. That's the only explanation I have. I might just order a normal...

    TaoTao 150 exhaust header/port mismatch

I lost the nuts off my header which I have replaced but obviously there was something else in there to seal the port. Some sort of gasket or WTF? I don't get it. The header does not match the exhaust...
  3. Re: GY6 150cc starts/idles fine but bogs under throttle

I kept thinking it must be the main jet but was trying other things because the carb is so locked down. Finally pulled the carb and had to cut slots in the stupid security bolts to get the bowl off....
  4. GY6 150cc starts/idles fine but bogs under throttle

The other day I turned from a light, went full throttle up to 50 MPH, then when I came to a light I let off the throttle and felt the motor drag abnormally hard. Once I stopped it seemed to be...

Re: Head shake when using the front brake

Just to follow up (even though no one ever does this), I disassembled the entire front-end and tightened the head-bearing and forks "hand" tight (30+ years experience working on bikes here) instead...

Re: Head shake when using the front brake

Thanks! Yeah, I will double check the head bearing and wheel bearings. I have checked them externally and there is no looseness in the wheel or the head but I'm left with having to disassemble things...

Head shake when using the front brake

This is a 2014 Taotao Paladin 150 with about 600 miles on it. I have been getting an increasing amount of head shake when using the front brake. It feels similar to a tank slapper with the bars...

    Re: Spongy front brake

I took the "ABS" thing off a long time ago and while it didn't fix the spongyness, it made the front brake grab a lot better. You don't need any extra bolts or anything to remove the "ABS", all the...
  9. Re: The GVWR GAWR specs on these things means they can't be safely ridden

MCO lists the GVWR as 230 LBS. What a joke. Not sure why the VIN plate is different from the certificate. All of this is much different from their advertised numbers of 300+ pounds.

    For those that...

    Re: Spongy front brake

I think the piston in the caliper may be sticking or something. In other words the self adjustment is not working. I'm going to try removing it and opening/closing the caliper to see if it loosens up...

    Spongy front brake

Taotao Paladon 150 (CY150). If I pull the front brake the lever almost touches the grip. I have bled the hell out of this system and there was/is no air in it as far as I can tell. It's not spongy...
  12. The GVWR GAWR specs on these things means they can't be safely ridden

For example, my TaoTao Paladin 150:

    The TaoTao web site states:
    G. W.: 300 lbs
    Weight Capacity: 350 lbs

However, the actual plate on the scooter states:

    GVWR: 75kg (165 pounds)
  13. Re: Anyone know the thread size for the TaoTao mirrors?

I noticed the left side mirror is not exactly tight in the threads so as best I can tell they are 8mm-1.25 threads. I went ahead and chased the threads with the 8mm tap. I don't know if it's because...
  14. Anyone know the thread size for the TaoTao mirrors?

The right-side mirror mount on my Paladin 150 does not have all the threads. They are only on one side for some reason (how is that even possible?!). Needless to say, it's impossible to screw the...

Re: TaoTao Paladin, can't get seat bucket bolt out

Yeah I'm going to try one of those plastic trim panel type things that you put in then push a pin through the center to lock it in place. My car uses those to hold all the plastic body work on and it...

Re: TaoTao Paladin, can't get seat bucket bolt out

Never mind. I managed to pry up the plastic on the other side and jam a box wrench in there. I wedged it between the nut and the bracket then applied as much sideways force as I could to the wrench...
  17. Re: Which of the low or mid-range scooters can fit a full-face helmet under the seat?

Thanks! Yes I would love a Kymco or SYM in that price range you mentioned for the peugeot but that just isn't going to happen because the closest dealers are hundreds of km away and I have never seen...

TaoTao Paladin, can't get seat bucket bolt out

This is a brand new paladin 150. There is one bolt at the rear that I can't get undone. There is something on the other side of it that is spinning but I have no way to access it. Any ideas?

    This...
  19. Which of the low or mid-range scooters can fit a full-face helmet under the seat?

I'm looking at the less than $1200 scooters 100cc or more. It seems many of them can't fit a full-face under the seat which is a deal breaker for me. Can someone point me in the right direction?

    I...
