Re: China Motorcycle Hire (Chengdu > Urumqi)
Chengduren here. ShuBen is right about forgetting the idea of renting. It's not possible, unless you want to ride a BMW and want to pay a ridiculous amount of money. There are 3 big markets here that...

Re: Monoshock mod on YBR250/YS250
Modron and me found 2 different shocks on ebay, each with different specs. Which one would be better for a trip to Europe with heavy luggage: A or B?

Re: Yamaha YS250(YBR250) 2014 vs Honda CBF190R 2015
Been riding the YS250 now for almost 20,000km and had no problems. Took it literally over every kind of surface. Heard the GW250 is a nice bike too, but is worse on shit Sichuan roads and next to...

thank you both so much for these detailed answers. I'm planning to meet someone who owns one to have a testride. I might have to get into motorcycle mechanics a bit more though

A question to all JH600 riders
Since March this year I've been riding a YS250 (ybr) and I really love the quality and reliability of the bike, but I did a long trip a few weeks back and since then my knees are hurting an awful...

Re: Retroactive China - Europe RR
Lost, can you let me know you things go with your Chinese motorcycle license in the old Soviet countries (like Kazakhstan) and when you're in Europe? I only have a Chinese license, so I'm unable to...

Thank you so much for posting here! Your blog is amazing, especially the prep and border crossing part. I'm planning a trip to Europe next year so this blog is incredibly helpful. May I ask which...

Yamaha reduced the price of the YS250/YBR250
Most official shops are selling them for 19,800 instead of 22-23,000. My dealer told me it's to beat the competition (gw250). It is NOT because of a new YS model as they don't expect one till the end...

Re: Recommendations for touring bike (YS250 vs GW250 vs JH600 vs X5)
Update:
So far, I've driven nearly 3000km on my YS250 and it's a magnificent bike. Only had to repair the bike once, but that was my fault and not the bike's (burned the clutch on a steep icy... -

Re: Recommendations for touring bike (YS250 vs GW250 vs JH600 vs X5)
Thanks for the advice, ya'll. I just got home from my first trip with the new YS250. Still breaking it in, but the first impression is great. No complaints. Only issue is trying to fit hand guards on...

Re: Recommendations for touring bike (YS250 vs GW250 vs JH600 vs X5)
Quick update: I decided to go with the YS/YBR, as I expect to come across some bad roads. I found a nice, small Yamaha store in a motorcycle market with a very helpful and friendly owner. He told me...

Re: Recommendations for touring bike (YS250 vs GW250 vs JH600 vs X5)
I haven't thought about this, so I'm gonna follow up on this advice. The modification for the aluminium cases seems a bit too difficult and I'm sure I'll experience some problems later on (it's a...

Re: Recommendations for touring bike (YS250 vs GW250 vs JH600 vs X5)
Thanks for the advice. I hear you on Chinese bikes. I burned through 2 bikes in the course of a year and I could have bought one nice bike for the same price. The constant problems are the reason...

Re: Recommendations for touring bike (YS250 vs GW250 vs JH600 vs X5)
Thanks for the answer. I'm looking for something a bit more powerful than a 150cc Jialing. The RX-3 was on my list before and I had the chance to ride it, but it looked too appealing for a 20,000RMB...

Recommendations for touring bike (YS250 vs GW250 vs JH600 vs X5)
As I finally got my legal motorcycle license, I'm now looking for a bike that can take me places. I've owned a CQR and a cheap Regal Raptor, but they weren't made for local roads, so I sold them...
