I just took delivery of the latest model of the X5 so i'll write an ongoing review of how the bike holds up during break in and on an upcoming road trip this summer. I've only put 80 k's on it thus...

The ones in Chengdu usually play an ice-cream truck type song too. My favourite are those riot-grade water cannons they use to water trees and plants to within an inch of their lives. I'd do that job.

I was looking at a similar route through the stans but it seems a carnet is required for Iran. That puts me off, which is a shame because Iran looks like an amazing place to ride.

In my experience i found that the local countryside people tend to drive a lot more reasonably than the people in their Audi4x4's out for a weekend drive. Fair comment about those bus drivers though....

Zhu, myself and a few more Chengdu based riders will be heading there this year. It'll be my first time going there so i'm really looking forward to it. Hopefully it'll be a lot more entertaining...
