    Just use household aluminium scourer (it looks like swarf). Works a treat, cheap, does not damage the surfaces and you can give it back to the Missus when you're done with using it. :naughty:

    Sounds to me that the flahser unit is kaput, or some elec connectors have oxidised or come loose (as CC's post). I trust you have already used the WD-40.

    It's worth noting that some arrangments are that the clevis is a permanent fixture to the clutch cable, so it gets replaced with the cable. I suspect this is such a clevis in the pic of Sprockets...
