Pat, you were already a legend. Now you're just showing off.
  4. Re: Harbin to Kashgar, and wherever else theres time for

I'm still reading! Love your pictures, and the stories are great too.

By the way those trees you talk about in qinghai are, i suspect, a part of the "great green wall of china". It's a project to...
  5. Re: Harbin to Kashgar, and wherever else theres time for

Looking forward to the rest, really hope you got some nicer camping experiences later in the trip!
  6. Re: What I need to know about riding a few thousand km in india?

Those picture are indeed better viewed on facebook. Great stuff, keep it coming!

By the way 50km/h is plenty fast enough to take basically all your skin off on tarmac. And road rash fucking blows...

    Re: Round Trip Yunnan

I see you're going down as far as xishuangbanna, good plan but make sure you don't just stay on main roads or there's no point in going down that far. Here's a little loop i did a month ago that made...
  9. Re: 20 days Yunnan - Kunming -> Shangri-La -> Yuanyuang -> Kunming

Hi JayDee, thanks for the useful info on that Shibaoshan temple near Shaxi. I went to check it out two days ago and it didn't disappoint. Loads of monkeys too, which is always a good thing.

  12. Re: My CJ750, or the story of how i came to be in China

Another wee update if i may.

I've been running sidecar tours in guilin for the last three months and it's been going pretty well. I've put another 8000km on the CJ in that time, almost entirely...

Thanks for the initiative and the beautiful pics. As China'?' mentioned we tried this before, without great success. Here are a few threads where the topic was covered.

  17. Re: The Moriarty MKII, a new project bike for a friend

I think it looks spiffing. Clean lines, well finished, has a great 'farting around town' look to it. The vestigial front fender probably won't do much in the rain but sure it looks good and i...

Re: New Member About To Purchase a Skyteam V-Retro / V-Raptor

Wondering why you'd consider messing with anything else when you have such a beautiful beast in your garage. I would sell my grandmother's balls for an XB12.

    Anyway general chinabike advice...

    Re: TIC (This is China)

That is fucking priceless. So they don't actually test the emissions that come out of the pipe when awarding the C3 badge. They just take a quick glace and say "yeah, that looks grand".
  20. Re: Shanghai, Anhui, Jiangxi and Zhejang, or how I spent 1300km on my new X5 (day 5)

    Well done and nice ride!

So did that black shit get in there whilst riding, or was it 'original from the factory'? If it's the former, i'm guessing it could be rocky bits of sticky tarmac. Did you...

    Re: Bye Bye "V"

No, i stripped it down and prepped the parts for painting, then brought them to an auto paint shop to have them done properly.

Rattle cans are fine for my CJ, but this is la Vstrom.
  25. Re: How my girlscout fianc got her ADV riders badge

    That was on purpose right?

Nice report man, and great job teaching the lady to cross rivers and generally follow you through all that stuff. You guys make a splendid team.
